Carnival Elation Cabins

Elation’s best cabin decision is not automatically a balcony. The ship gives you several different ways to buy daylight, a view or outdoor space—and 6J Scenic Ocean View is the category that makes the comparison interesting.

How I would shop Elation

Start with PT if you only need daylight. Jump to 6J if the view is the point. Make Balcony prove itself against both. Elation’s current plan lists 6J Scenic Ocean View, standard Balconies through 8E, 8M Aft-View Extended Balcony, OB obstructed Junior Suite, JS/JT, GS, ES and GV. That is enough variety to make a straight “Interior → Ocean View → Balcony → Suite” ladder misleading.

The Elation choices that actually change the trip

PT

Fix darkness cheaply

Carnival identifies PT as a room with two porthole windows. If the only thing you dislike about an Interior is waking up in a dark room, this is the first fare I would check.

6A–6E

Conventional Ocean View

A picture-window view without paying for a balcony. On a short sailing, this can be the sweet spot when you expect to spend most of the day elsewhere on the ship.

6J

Scenic is the wildcard

Carnival describes Elation’s Scenic Ocean View with floor-to-ceiling windows facing forward. That is not merely “more Ocean View.” Put its fare beside a Balcony and choose panorama versus private outdoor space.

8A–8E / 8M

Balcony needs a use case

Elation has standard Balcony categories plus 8M Aft-View Extended Balcony. If you picture wake views and long stretches outside, 8M deserves a look. If the balcony is mostly for ten-minute visits, keep the standard room in the comparison.

GV

Grand Vista is a destination cabin

Carnival describes GV as Elation’s biggest room, high on the ship, with floor-to-ceiling windows and a large balcony. Compare it with ES and with two cabins. At this level, the room should materially shape the vacation.

Elation watch-outs

OB

Junior Suite can be obstructed

The deck plan explicitly labels OB Junior Suite as obstructed view. If view quality is why you are moving into a suite, stop at the cabin number and verify what blocks it.

Upper berths

Balcony bed conversion can change

Carnival notes that Balcony beds do not convert to a king when both upper Pullmans are in use. For a four-person cabin, that is a functional detail—not trivia.

High & forward

Scenic and Vista location is part of the product

The dramatic glass comes with a particular place on the ship. Travelers sensitive to motion should weigh the view against location before paying the premium.

Families: compare one impressive room with two useful rooms

GV and ES can be tempting because they feel like the “family upgrade.” Still price two cabins. Two bathrooms and separate sleeping space may solve more real problems than one larger room. Then check the exact berth symbols before deciding.
