How we chose

How we chose

Location first. New Orleans is easy to cross by cab but better on foot, so we picked by what each address puts within reach: the river, the French Quarter or the Warehouse District.

Three of the six hold a Forbes Four-Star, and one of those also holds a MICHELIN Key. Two more are Forbes Recommended, and the sixth is a Warehouse District guesthouse with no award listed.

Embarkation day

Before boarding day

  1. 01

Ask which night your line includes

ACL builds a hotel stay into each itinerary, with a lobby-to-ship transfer on boarding morning. If you want to be in town earlier, add a night of your own before it.

  2. 02

    Get the boarding address first

Port NOLA names no wharf for either line. Your line gives you the address and the time, and the walk from your hotel depends on both.

  3. 03

Book the evening before the room

Preservation Hall opens at 8 pm and the Davenport Lounge plays Wednesday to Saturday. Pick the day for the music, then choose the hotel around it.

Quick answers

New Orleans pre-cruise hotel questions

Which hotel is on the river?

The Four Seasons, at 2 Canal Street on the banks of the Mississippi. The Windsor Court has bay-window views of the city or the river.

Which is best for jazz?

The Ritz-Carlton, where the Davenport Lounge plays Wednesday to Saturday. Preservation Hall, in the French Quarter, opens at 8 pm daily.

We want something quieter than Canal Street. What do we book?

Maison Métier in the Warehouse District, near the WWII Museum, or the Windsor Court on Gravier Street.

If we book only one, which?

The Four Seasons for the river, the Ritz-Carlton for the building and the jazz. Neither is a mistake.
