The short answer

Fly into Gran Canaria Airport (LPA), at Gando. MSC puts it about 27 km from the port along the GC-1, and Global’s line 60 runs direct to the Santa Catalina interchange beside the terminal for €2.95, per Aena.

A taxi is metered. Spain’s tourism board puts the ride to the capital at about €30 to €50; no fixed fare is in force that we could confirm.

We found no nonstop flight from the US to Gran Canaria, so plan on a connection. On a one-way crossing that’s a long day. Land the day before.

Take line 60 if

  • You’re travelling light
  • Your hotel is near Parque Santa Catalina or San Telmo
  • It’s one or two of you

Take a taxi if

  • You’re carrying a crossing’s worth of luggage
  • There are three or four of you to split it
  • You land on sail day

The Ride

What the ride to the port costs

The taxi rows are per car, the ends of Spain’s tourism board’s range; the bus row is per adult.

Travelers

Taxi to the capital, lower end—
Line 60 to the Santa Catalina interchange, per adult (Aena)—

One way, in euros, as published on October 19, 2026. The taxi is metered; the range is the tourism board’s average, not a fixed fare.

A rental car makes little sense for a Las Palmas cruise: we found no published cruise parking at the terminal.

Sail-Day Landing

Landing on sail day? Check your timing

No line we read publishes a standard check-in cut-off for Las Palmas, so put in the departure from your documents. The first row is the ride plus our own allowance for the airport; the second is our margin — not a rule.

  • The ride, plus clearing the airportAbout 30 minutes on line 60, per a transfer guide, plus our own allowance of about two hours for bags, the ride and the ship’s check-in — your documents give the cut-off.—
  • A ride in with time to spareOur rule of thumb, not a line's: land at least 4 hours before the ship leaves.—

We found no nonstop from the US, so you’ll connect, and a crossing ship won’t wait. We’d land the day before.

A night in Las Palmas first

Fly in a day early. Walk to the ship in the morning.

We ranked ten hotels for a Las Palmas cruise, several a short walk from the terminal. Tell us the flight and the ship, and we’ll pick the night that fits.

Coming Home

The morning you’re back

No line we read publishes a Las Palmas disembarkation time. Line 60 and taxis both run back to the airport, about 27 km. Enter your flight and when you expect to be ashore; the planner sets out the ride and the wait.

Partner links may earn Seabound Journeys a commission at no extra cost to you. They don't change the plan, which is built only from what each company publishes. Fares are in euros as printed on October 19, 2026.

Clocks, Entry and Bags

The clock, the border and your suitcase

Start with the clock. The Canary Islands run an hour behind mainland Spain, on the same time as London. If you connect through Madrid, your watch goes back an hour on the last leg. Through Lisbon, it doesn’t change.

Entry is Schengen. The EU’s Entry/Exit System (EES) has been fully running since April 10, 2026. It replaces passport stamps for non-EU visitors with a photo and fingerprints at the first Schengen border. ETIAS hasn’t launched and isn’t needed yet. The EU has promised at least six months’ notice, and no start date had been announced when we checked on October 19, 2026. Check the State Department’s Spain page before you fly.

Bags: a third-party port guide says the terminal stores luggage on request. We couldn’t confirm that with the terminal, so ask your line. For the terminal and the lines, see our Las Palmas cruise guide.

Fly In Early

Flying in the day before

One night in Las Palmas takes the pressure off a long flight, and the city’s worth the evening. Four of our ten are within about 800 m of the terminal by our map.

None runs a shuttle to the ship. Line 60’s Santa Catalina stop is a short walk from the hotels by the park.
