Universal built two 750-room hotels from one set of plans, put one behind the other across Kirkman Boulevard, and charges different prices for them.
Stella Nova opened on 21 January 2025 and Terra Luna followed on 25 March. They are a matched pair in a stricter sense than the phrase usually implies: the same template, the same 315 sq ft room, the same single room product, and mirrored lobbies — reception and dining sit to the left at Stella Nova and to the right at Terra Luna. They share a signature exterior of roughly 144,000 hand-placed acid-washed iridescent tiles, which is a genuinely striking piece of building from some angles and, in the wrong afternoon light, a wall of glare.
What separates them is theming and address. Stella Nova takes deep space — blues, teals and purples, galaxy headboards, porthole windows — while Terra Luna takes an undiscovered planet in warm earth tones and golds. And Stella Nova sits closer in, with a signed footpath to Epic Universe’s main entrance that takes most people about ten minutes. Terra Luna sits beyond it, across Kirkman Boulevard, with a longer and considerably more disputed version of the same walk.
That footpath is what the difference in price buys. Stella Nova runs $10 to $30 a night more than the hotel next door, and this page is an argument about whether that is money well spent. Two things run the other way — Terra Luna’s kitchen is rated higher and several reviewers prefer its smaller pool — and the full head-to-head sits on the Terra Luna page rather than being printed twice. Before any of it, though, there is a question that disqualifies a great many parties outright, and it is the next thing here.

That is unusual enough — and disqualifying often enough — that it belongs before the pretty pictures rather than after them. Pick your party.
Some booking channels list king rooms here; those are most likely accessible rooms rather than a general category, so confirm before you count on one. Housekeeping runs every other day by default, which is worth requesting differently if it matters to you.

- Two people in 315 square feet with a split bathroom — separate vanity, separate toilet and shower — laminate floors, a decent closet, a mini-fridge, a wireless charging clock and a backlit mirror. - This is the hard limit and the reason this interactive exists. Stella Nova has no suites of any kind, no family suites, and no rooms that sleep more than four. What the ten-minute walk actually involves
This footpath is the whole reason Stella Nova costs more than the identical hotel next door, so it is worth knowing exactly what you are buying. It is real, it is signed, and it is not a garden stroll. Step through it.
Reported times range from about eight minutes to about fifteen, with a consensus near ten; our own framing is that a fit adult walks it in ten and a family with a pushchair and a five-year-old should budget fifteen. The shuttle bus is an alternative at under ten minutes door to door and is the sensible choice in heavy rain or heavy heat.
Stella Nova costs $10 to $30 a night more than Terra Luna. Over a five-night stay that is $50 to $150 — roughly the price of a decent dinner for four at CityWalk, spent instead on a shorter, straighter, better-signed walk. Our view: if you will make that walk twice a day for five days, it is comfortably worth it and it is the single best walk-to-Epic value on the property. If you already know you will take the shuttle most days, you are paying for a footpath you will look at from a bus window, and Terra Luna is the better booking.

- The route crosses live surface roads on the way — paved and signposted, but roads with cars on them rather than a landscaped resort walkway of the sort Disney builds. In January that is irrelevant; in July at four in the afternoon, with the humidity where Orlando keeps it, ten minutes of direct sun is a meaningful ask at the end of a park day and a worse one at the start. There is no table-service restaurant here and there was never going to be. What matters is the timing advice, which is the most useful line on this page after the walk.
Cosmos Cafe is the only kitchen in the building and serves all 750 rooms. Terra Luna next door runs the same single-counter model at Omega Cafe — the two hotels share nothing, not even dining.

- Not included: free Express Unlimited, priority seating, a table-service restaurant, or a room for a fifth person.
At most Universal hotels, not including Express is a real cost. At this one it is close to irrelevant, because Express has never covered Epic Universe at any hotel on the property — not at Portofino, not at Hard Rock, not at Royal Pacific. For the days you spend at Epic, the perk you are giving up would not have worked at the gate you are walking to. For any day at the two original parks, it very much would have.
One thing no hotel gives you. Epic Universe sells its own paid Express, roughly $129.99 to $329.99 per person per day, and no room key anywhere on this property includes it. That decision is identical whether you sleep here or in a suite at Portofino — so budget for it or plan around it, and do not let a hotel booking convince you it has been handled.
Who should book it
The best-value way to be within walking distance of Epic Universe, provided your party fits in one room.
Two of you, and Epic is the trip. A well-specified modern room, a ten-minute walk to the gate, at Prime Value money. Nothing else on the property matches it.
You will actually walk. Twice a day for several days and the premium over Terra Luna pays for itself several times over.
You want the early hour cheaply. Identical Early Park Admission to the Signature hotels, at a third to a quarter of what they typically charge.
Express was never the point. It has never covered Epic Universe, so down here you are giving up nothing you could have used.
There are five of you. Nothing in the building takes a fifth person and nothing connects. Cabana Bay and Endless Summer are built for you; this is not.
You know you’ll take the shuttle. Then book Terra Luna, pocket $10 to $30 a night, and ride the same bus.
Your week is at the two original parks. Four miles, a shuttle each way, and no reason at all to be down here.
A pool day matters. Big, hot, crowded concrete. Cabana Bay is a different proposition entirely.
If two of you are doing Epic Universe and you will use your feet, this is the sharpest booking Universal currently sells and the footpath is worth every dollar of the premium. If there are five of you, or you already know the shuttle will win by Wednesday, the answer is a different hotel — and this guide would rather tell you that now than have you find out on arrival.

What is the pool like?
Large, busy and unremarkable. Ten thousand square feet of resort-style pool with a hot tub, a fire pit, poolside films and lawn games — a good specification on paper, and there is an interactive splash pad, although sources disagree about whether the pad is here or next door at Terra Luna, so confirm it if it is deciding your booking. In practice the deck is sprawling concrete, chair-heavy and short of shade, and it gets crowded. Next to Cabana Bay's two courtyards and lazy river it is pedestrian. Several reviewers actually prefer Terra Luna's smaller, more cohesive pool next door.
How do you get to Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure?
By shuttle bus, and it is a proper journey — budget 30 to 40 minutes door to gate, and longer in the return queue at park close. The two campuses are four miles apart, there is no water taxi, and there is no walking route. If most of your week is at the two original parks rather than at Epic, the whole logic of staying down here collapses and you should be looking at the north campus. Stella Nova makes sense when Epic dominates the trip.
What does it cost beyond the room?
Parking is $30 a night, the Prime Value rate. There is no resort fee at any Universal hotel. Rack rates have run a promotional floor of about $90 to $110, roughly $150 to $200 on typical dates and $200 to $300 at peak. Worth knowing: housekeeping runs every other day by default rather than daily, and the resort's shops and arcade are thin — the arcade is largely claw machines and the merchandise is generic.
