- Which resorts get Extended Evening Hours?
- This is the perk worth choosing a resort for, and the one most often misunderstood. Disney’s own wording is “a Disney Deluxe Resort, Disney Deluxe Villa Resort or other select hotels” — and those other select hotels are the Swan, the Dolphin, the Swan Reserve and Shades of Green, none of which Disney owns. Two traps. Fort Wilderness cabins qualify and the campsites do not , because eligibility runs through the Vacation Club cabins rather than the address. - What does every resort get?
- Early Theme Park Entry is thirty minutes before official opening, at all four parks, every day of your stay including check-in and check-out days. It is the flattest perk on the property — a $200 value room and a $900 Deluxe suite get exactly the same half hour — and it is the strongest argument for staying on site at all. It also reaches further than people expect: Fort Wilderness campsites qualify, so do the Swan, Dolphin, Swan Reserve and Shades of Green, and so do a rotating roster of off-property partner hotels. - Where do five or six of us sleep?
- The cheapest honest answers are Art of Animation’s 565 sq ft family suites and All-Star Music’s 520 sq ft suites — both sleep six across three separate sleeping spaces, both have two full bathrooms , and Music’s are the lowest-priced suites on Disney property. For five, Port Orleans Riverside’s Alligator Bayou rooms carry a fold-down fifth bed at moderate rates and one bathroom. Above that the ladder runs Fort Wilderness cabins at six, Riviera’s villas from eight to twelve, and the Polynesian bungalows at eight. - Which resorts walk to a park?
- Beach Club is the shortest walk to any park gate on the property , at five to seven minutes to EPCOT’s International Gateway, with the Yacht Club next door a couple of minutes behind. BoardWalk Inn is the only resort that walks to two parks — EPCOT in five to ten, Hollywood Studios in fifteen to twenty along a flat lit canal path. On the Magic Kingdom side, the Contemporary has its own dedicated path with a security checkpoint of its own at eight to twelve minutes, and the Grand Floridian a shared lagoon-side path at twelve to eighteen. - Which resort suits which park?
- Decide which park owns most of your week before you look at a single rate, because that is the decision the resort is really making for you. Magic Kingdom heavy: the monorail row or the Contemporary’s path. EPCOT and Hollywood Studios : Crescent Lake walks to both, and the Skyliner from Caribbean Beach reaches the Studios in twelve to twenty-two minutes for a fraction of the money. Animal Kingdom : the Lodge is fifteen to twenty-five minutes and the All-Stars are fifteen to thirty. Six rules worth carrying
The things we find ourselves saying to clients over and over, in the order they matter.
Three that change the shortlist
- Choose the park, then the resort. A Disney resort is a transport decision. The gap between the right and wrong address is twenty to forty minutes twice a day, every day of the trip.
- Early entry is identical everywhere. Thirty minutes, all four parks, every day of the stay, from the cheapest All-Star room to a Grand Floridian suite. If you will use it, on site pays for itself; if you are a nine-thirty family, much of the premium evaporates.
- Extended Evening Hours is the only perk that splits the list — Deluxe, Deluxe Villas, and the Swan, Dolphin, Swan Reserve and Shades of Green. Nothing Moderate or Value qualifies at any price.
Three that catch people out
- Two Value suites sleep six with two bathrooms. Art of Animation and All-Star Music. Most people paying Moderate rates for a party of six never learn this.
- Fort Wilderness is two products. The Vacation Club cabins get Extended Evening Hours; the campsites do not, though they do get early entry.
- On-site guests book Lightning Lane seven days out, for the length of stay up to fourteen days, against three days for everyone else. On a busy week that window is worth more than the queue.
The most expensive mistake at Walt Disney World is not booking the wrong tier — it is booking a tier at the wrong end of the map. A Deluxe room on the monorail is transformative for a Magic Kingdom week and merely expensive for an EPCOT one, where a Moderate on the Skyliner would have put you at the gate faster for half the money. What is the fastest way to choose a Walt Disney World resort?
Answer two questions in order, and price comes third. First: which park owns most of your week? Disney resorts are transport decisions wearing a theme, and the difference between the right and wrong address is twenty to forty minutes twice a day, every day. Second: does your party fit in one room? Only four products on the whole property sleep six affordably. Those two questions eliminate most of the list before you look at a rate.
Is Extended Evening Hours really worth paying Deluxe rates for?
It depends on how many nights you would actually use it. It runs on select nights at select parks rather than nightly, so on a short stay you may catch one session or none — check the calendar against your dates before you let the perk justify the tier. What it buys when it lands is a nearly empty park after official close, which is a genuinely different experience from anything a paid line-skip gives you. Two things people miss: the Swan, Dolphin, Swan Reserve and Shades of Green also qualify without being Disney-owned, and they are frequently cheaper than the Deluxe resorts they sit among.
Do the cheap resorts really get the same early entry?
Yes, and it is the strongest argument for staying on site. Early Theme Park Entry is thirty minutes before official opening at all four parks, every day of your stay including arrival and departure days, and it is identical whether you are in a 260 sq ft All-Star room or a Grand Floridian suite. Fort Wilderness campsites get it too. You need valid park admission — the perk does not include a ticket.
Which resort is best for a family of six?
Art of Animation's family suite or All-Star Music's, and both are Value tier, which surprises people. Each sleeps six across three separate sleeping spaces with two full bathrooms and a kitchenette. Art of Animation's are larger at 565 sq ft and Skyliner-served; All-Star Music's are 520 sq ft, bus-only, and the lowest-priced suites on Disney property. Above them, Fort Wilderness cabins sleep six with a full kitchen, and Riviera's two-bedroom villas take eight to ten. For five rather than six, Port Orleans Riverside's Alligator Bayou rooms carry a fold-down fifth bed at moderate rates.
Does staying on site help with Lightning Lane?
Yes, and this is the on-site advantage nobody advertises. Guests of Disney resort hotels and the other select hotels can buy Lightning Lane passes up to seven days before their stay and for the length of it, up to fourteen days. Everyone else buys three days ahead. On a busy week that booking window is worth more than the queue itself, because the most in-demand arrival windows go first. We quote no prices here deliberately — Lightning Lane is demand-priced, Disney publishes no figures, and any number printed on a page like this is wrong within weeks.
Has anything changed for 2026?
Two things worth knowing. Both Early Theme Park Entry and Extended Evening Theme Park Hours have been confirmed to continue through 2027, so neither is a perk you need to hurry for. And theme park reservations are no longer required for date-based tickets, though they may still apply to other admission types — if you have a Park Hopper, you still need to enter your first park before hopping.
