Playlist Productions, Carnival's standard contemporary production-show format, came aboard with her February-March 2026 dry dock in Singapore. It's built around pop-song revues and interactive musicals.

Three titles debuted in March 2026: Rock Revolution: Summer of 69, Broadway Beats and Dear Future Husband. Carnival's own Playlist page now lists her as Available. Her sister Carnival Adventure is still listed as Coming soon.

Her main theater is the Marquee Theatre at the bow, per Cruise Critic. Black Circus, at the stern, hosts Blanc de Blanc Uncorked, a paid 18-plus show. Nightly comedy runs at the Punchliner Comedy Club, and an April 2026 reviewer rated the comedians good.

That's a standard Playlist rotation plus comedy, the same shape as Carnival Legend and Carnival Pride. It isn't a signature production at Excel Class scale, and a July 2026 review rated the ship's entertainment 2 out of 5.

Cruise Critic's ship listing names Piano Bar 88, among roughly a dozen bars aboard. That's the one live-music room this page can name.

No 2026 sailing report gathered here names a band, a lounge act or an atrium show. Some baseline live music is close to universal on a ship this size, so read this as thin, not absent.

Per Wikipedia's own entry on Princess Cruises' Grand-class ships, the class was designed with its signature nightclub either cantilevered over the stern or positioned just aft of the funnel. The original Star Princess was built with that piece of naval architecture in 2001-2002.

That room still works as a nightclub. It's now Altitude Nightclub, overhanging the stern, per Cruise Critic — covered under Nightlife below.

EDGE is the standout here. It's a paid, multi-element adventure course combining a Flying Fox zipline, rock climbing, a Bridge Roof Walk and "walking the plank," per Carnival's own Australian site.

Participants must be at least 5 years old and weigh no more than 110kg.

They must fit the required safety equipment correctly. Closed-toe athletic shoes are required, plus a head strap for glasses.

EDGE is confirmed on only one other Carnival ship: her sister Carnival Adventure, the former Golden Princess and P&O Pacific Adventure, covered independently on Seabound. That makes it a shared format specific to this converted pair of hulls; it isn't run fleet-wide.

The Byron Beach Club is reserved exclusively for guests in Byron Beach Suites. It sits at the bow with its own private pool, whirlpool spas, ocean views and table service from Luke's Burgers and a pizzeria, for an additional charge.

Oasis, an included 18-plus retreat, offers its own dedicated pool, deckchairs and bar service. Both are confirmed on Carnival Encounter and Carnival Adventure specifically rather than fleet-wide.

Her March 2026 dry dock revitalized all five pools, replaced all seven hot tubs and polished the Twin Racer slides. Cloud 9 Spa runs its fee-based treatments and gained a new thermal suite in the same dry dock.

No FlowRider turned up in any source gathered here, and no ropes course beyond EDGE itself.

A paid attraction most converted hulls on Seabound don't carry is strength in its own right. That holds even without a signature attraction at Carnival's Excel Class scale.

Punchliner Comedy Club is confirmed present and included in the fare. An April 2026 reviewer rated the nightly comedians good.

Cruise Critic's venue list names the rest. Altitude Nightclub sits in the Grand-class nightclub that overhangs the stern. There's a casino, which Cruise Critic describes as quiet, and named bars including The Bonded Store and the Encounter Hotel.

That's a real set of rooms. What's missing is any sign of a busy late scene: the same April 2026 review calls the silent disco a disaster.

Camp Ocean's three core marine-themed bands are confirmed via Carnival's own generic program description: Penguins (2-5), Stingrays (6-8) and Sharks (9-11).

They cover arts and crafts, songs, games, movies and video games, with kids' menus and small-group supervision from trained counselors.

That page describes daytime Camp Ocean as included fleet-wide, with no ship exclusion named for Carnival Encounter.

The ship's own listing separately confirms "kids clubs" aboard. It names no age bands.

Cruise Critic's ship listing goes further. It names Turtles, Carnival's program for infants under 2, plus Circle C and Club O2, the tween and teen clubs that run staffed hours through age 17 on other Carnival ships.

That listing is undated, and no 2026 sailing report gathered for this page describes those clubs in use. Her P&O Cruises Australia predecessor used different youth-program branding entirely.

Cruise Critic's venue list adds the Marquee Theatre (main stage, bow), Black Circus (stern, home of Blanc de Blanc Uncorked), Altitude Nightclub, a casino, Piano Bar 88, The Bonded Store and the Encounter Hotel.

Specialty dining at Fahrenheit 555 Steakhouse and Bonsai Sushi Express (new on Deck 5 in March 2026) carries a charge. Waterfront, Angelo's, Dragon Lady and The Pantry (included), plus Trattoria and New Zealand Natural (additional charge), are on her listing but weren't re-checked for 2026.

All five pools and the Twin Racer slides were refreshed in the March 2026 dry dock.

EDGE is the standout: a multi-element, paid adventure format — zipline, rock climbing, a roof walk and a plank walk in one course. Seabound hasn't documented that combination on any other Carnival ship besides her sister Carnival Adventure.

Cruisers whose priority is the year-round Great Barrier Reef itinerary from Brisbane, and who want a paid adventure course in EDGE, will find value here.

It isn't about the entertainment build at all. It's about the destination and one standout attraction.

Couples and small groups drawn to Oasis's included adult retreat get confirmed amenities most converted hulls on Seabound don't carry. So do suite guests booking specifically for the Byron Beach Club.

Families whose trip depends on the infant or teen clubs should confirm them for their sailing; they're listed, but undated. Anyone who wants a lively bar-and-music scene will find this ship thin.

Verify directly with Carnival or a booked sailing's HUB app before counting on any of it.

Class and specification verification, stated plainly. Carnival Encounter is listed at 109,000 gross tons and 2,596 guests at double occupancy, built in 2002, in the Grand class. Independent sourcing confirms all of it.

Grand Class is Princess Cruises' own name for this hull design, not something Carnival invented for her. It carries straight through her P&O Cruises Australia years as Pacific Encounter and now into Carnival's fleet unchanged.

Her build year checks out exactly against her January 25, 2002 christening at Fincantieri's Monfalcone, Italy yard. That followed a May 10, 2001 launch, on an order placed in January 1998.

Her tonnage checks out against Wikipedia's own 109,000 GT figure. cruisehive.com's independent reporting cites a close 108,865 GT — ordinary measurement variance across sources — not a data problem.

Her passenger count checks out closely against Carnival's own current marketing citing roughly 2,600 guests.

All of it checks out.

The double rebrand, stated plainly. As Star Princess, this hull entered Mexican Riviera service from Los Angeles on March 10, 2002 and sailed 19 years for Princess across Alaska, the Caribbean, the Mediterranean, the Baltic, Southeast Asia, Australia and South America.

In 2021 she transferred to P&O Cruises Australia and went through a Sembcorp Marine dry dock in Singapore. Renamed Pacific Encounter, she debuted from Brisbane in August 2022.

When Carnival Corporation closed the standalone P&O Cruises Australia brand entirely and folded its fleet into Carnival's own Australian operation, she went through a roughly two-week wet docking in Melbourne.

She re-entered service as Carnival Encounter in March 2025, still homeported in Brisbane. She runs year-round Great Barrier Reef itineraries through at least 2028, supplemented seasonally by Carnival Luminosa.

A February-March 2026 Singapore dry dock added further Carnival-branded technical work. An Australian Maritime Safety Authority inspection during that same window, triggered by a whistleblower crew-quarters complaint, found no deficiencies, per Carnival's own statement.

Her hull is 23-24 years old carrying a 2025 Carnival service date. This page states that directly instead of letting the marketing date imply otherwise.

Against named ships already scored on Seabound. Encounter's 4.9 sits level with Carnival Legend's 4.9 and below Carnival Liberty's 5.4, a native 2005 Conquest Class design built three years after this hull.

It also sits below Carnival Firenze's 6.0, a fellow converted, rebranded hull — the former Costa Firenze. Firenze's 2024 Carnival transfer came with a confirmed full re-theme and a confirmed six-band Camp Ocean.

This hull's original 2002 build year is exactly contemporaneous with Carnival's own Conquest, delivered the same year and scored on Seabound at 5.9, though Encounter didn't join Carnival's own fleet until 23 years later.

The gap to those ships now sits in the day-to-day. Live music, activities and nightlife all land at 4.5.

Her 2026 dry dock moved Production and Family up. It didn't change the rest.
