Playlist Productions itself is Carnival's fleet-wide production brand, running on 27-plus ships. This four-title mix is what's confirmed for Venezia, not a claim that any of it is unique to her.

Family Feud Live also sits on Venezia's entertainment rotation, per Carnival's own current venue listing for the ship. It's the fare-included game-show format Carnival debuted fleet-wide on Mardi Gras in 2021, and it runs here too.

No second, structurally distinct production venue — nothing built to the scale of Celebration Central's three-story atrium stage — is confirmed anywhere on this ship.

One well-appointed theater with real production values is depth for a mainstream ship. It's also a plain, direct downgrade from the two-venue setup every current Excel Class ship carries.

Between that and the live-music spread, this is a solid live-entertainment footprint for a mainstream ship. It sits in the same working tier as Holland America's three-venue Music Walk.

Short of Celebration's own wider bar-by-bar spread, and well short of Royal Caribbean's megaships running seven-plus parallel formats at once.

No BOLT, no FlowRider, no rock-climbing wall and no zip line are confirmed anywhere on this ship, checked directly, not assumed from a general Carnival reputation. BOLT: Ultimate Sea Coaster remains exclusive to Carnival's own Excel Class ships.

Carnival WaterWorks runs a three-slide package instead: the Twister, an enclosed Gondola-slide tunnel, and a splash pad for younger children. The Sky Course ropes course runs partly suspended over the ship's side, alongside mini-golf.

One detail carried over from the ship's original cold-weather-capable Costa build, confirmed by Cruise Critic's own editorial review: a heated pool under a retractable Magrodome-style roof. Unusual hardware for a Carnival ship, and not confirmed on Excel Class.

Working against that hardware: Cruise Critic's editorial review and independent guest reviews converge on the same finding. The ship's two main pools run small and crowded for her size.

One reviewer described them as "80s cruise-ship little" and dominated by children on sea days.

Functional recreation hardware without any headline attraction, plus converging evidence of a tight pool deck, is why this lands below the industry's mid-point, not at it. Well under Excel Class's coaster-driven 8.0.

No standalone multi-day family festival and no family-designed aqua or ice production are confirmed anywhere on this ship either. That's the same gap Celebration's own Family Entertainment card carries.

Camp Ocean runs the identical age structure confirmed across Carnival's fleet: Turtles (6 months-2, parent-attended and staffed drop-off sessions, fee-based), Penguins (2-5), Stingrays (6-8) and Sharks (9-11). The last three are complimentary and run on the same published sea-day and port-day hours as Carnival Celebration.

Circle C (12-14) and Club O2 (15-17) extend the complimentary structure through age 17, with a daytime slot each plus nightly hours to 1 a.m. Those cover karaoke, video gaming and scavenger hunts.

Fee-based Night Owls extends late supervised care to 1 a.m. for the youngest tiers.

Travelers who want a ship that feels different from the rest of Carnival's fleet will get value here that her category scores alone might undersell. That means a Costa-built hull with Italian architecture, Italian-themed bars, and Festa Italiana's own street-party format.

Couples who want two separate dedicated evening venues, not one, are well served. So are families comfortable with a single main theater and a smaller pool deck.

Thrill-seekers chasing a roller coaster, a FlowRider or a climbing wall should look to Carnival's own Excel Class instead. So should families needing a large, uncrowded pool deck on sea days.

None of that hardware is confirmed present on this ship today.

Origin and class, verified rather than assumed. Carnival Venezia was built as Costa Venezia at Fincantieri's Monfalcone yard, delivered February 28, 2019 at a cost of roughly $780 million.

She was purpose-built for Costa Cruises' China market, debuting in Shanghai on May 18, 2019. COVID-19 and what reporting on the transfer calls operational challenges across Europe and China ended that assignment.

Costa redeployed her to Istanbul in May 2022 and halted her Costa service on December 1, 2022.

Carnival announced the transfer June 22, 2022, and refit her at Navantia's Cadiz yard. She officially joined the Carnival fleet March 22, 2023, entering Carnival service May 29, 2023 on a transatlantic crossing from Barcelona to New York.

Independent sourcing confirms she and Carnival Firenze (formerly Costa Firenze) form a genuine two-ship Venice Class, itself a sub-class of the wider Vista-class hull platform. That means ships.csv's own "carnival-venice-class" label checks out, unlike the class-slug correction this project had to make for Norwegian Spirit.

What ships.csv does get wrong: its entered_service field is blank for both Venezia and Firenze, with no year recorded. The confirmed value for Venezia is 2023.

That gap is flagged here for the record, not corrected on this page. Carnival Firenze was researched and scored independently in this project.

Against named ships from other, already-completed lines and Carnival's own locked Excel Class. Venezia's 6.4 sits below all three current Excel Class scores — Carnival Celebration's 7.2, Carnival Jubilee's 7.0, and Mardi Gras's 6.3, the closest of the three.

That gap is almost entirely BOLT's coaster-driven Recreation score and Celebration's second production venue, neither of which this Costa-built hull carries.

She sits well above Norwegian Spirit's 5.2 and MSC Sinfonia's 5.1, two other aging or rebranded hulls scored elsewhere in this project. The evidence: full-age-range complimentary kids programming neither of those ships carries at Venezia's depth, and a two-venue Nightlife card.

Her own strongest evidence — Limelight Lounge and Gondola Lounge together, and Festa Italiana's Italian street-party format — is evidence a purpose-built Excel Class ship doesn't carry either.

That's the clearest sign this reads as a structurally different ship — not a diminished Excel Class one.
