Norwegian Encore Dining, Decoded

Norwegian Encore runs three parallel, complimentary main dining rooms — Savor, Taste, and The Manhattan Room — under Norwegian's Freestyle Dining model: no fixed dining time, no assigned seating, no assigned waitstaff. All three are structurally equivalent to a traditional MDR and all three score as ordinary Included — Full Service. Encore is the newest ship in the Breakaway Plus Class and the only one of its four ships carrying both Palomar and Onda by Scarpetta, a pair of 2024/2025-dry-dock and 2019-debut specialty concepts that give Encore the class's highest-ceiling specialty lineup. Across 17 scored venues, Encore lands a Seabound Dining Score of 8.3 — tying sister ship Norwegian Escape's headline, but on quality rather than breadth.

The 30-second answer

Norwegian Encore carries three separate, complimentary main dining rooms — Savor, Taste, and The Manhattan Room (Deck 17) — all open to every guest, all running real multi-course menus with real service, and all scoring as ordinary Included — Full Service, exactly like a traditional MDR would on any other line. The one thing that's different is the service model: Norwegian's Freestyle Dining means no fixed dining time and no assigned seating, which is a booking-flexibility detail, never a reason any of the three is treated as lesser or placed in a different category.

Beyond those three, Encore's included roster runs The Local Bar & Grill, American Diner, and Garden Café for casual dining, plus 24-hour Room Service. The Bake Shop and Gelato are Encore's paid dessert kiosks. Her specialty lineup runs seven restaurants — Cagney's Steakhouse, Q Texas Smokehouse, Le Bistro, Teppanyaki, Food Republic, Palomar, and Onda by Scarpetta — and it's that last pair that sets Encore apart: she's the only Breakaway Plus ship carrying both. The Haven Restaurant is a real, dedicated, complimentary suite restaurant on Deck 18, exclusive to Haven guests.

All of that lands Encore at 8.3 (weighted 8.275), tying sister ship Norwegian Escape's 8.3 headline — but Escape gets there on breadth (eight specialty restaurants across an 18-venue roster) while Encore gets there on quality (the class's only Palomar-plus-Onda pairing, on a leaner 17-venue roster). Both are real, defensible routes to the same number.

Seabound Insight

Encore's story is a 2024/2025 dry-dock story as much as a launch-year one: Palomar and Onda by Scarpetta both arrived via recent dry docks, and that same work folded the former Los Lobos into an expanded Cagney's Steakhouse. The result is the class's most modern, quality-oriented specialty lineup — not the widest bench, but the highest ceiling.

02

The Seabound Dining Scorecard

Eight categories, each judged on its own merits and weighted to a single score — never averaged up from the 17 venue scores below, because a roster this deep deserves an ecosystem judgment, not simple arithmetic.

Seabound Dining Scorecard · Norwegian Encore1–10 scale
Encore's Seabound Dining Score is 8.3 / 10 (weighted 8.275) — the same headline as sister ship Norwegian Escape's own 8.3, reached by a different route: Encore's edge is in Specialty Dining and Quality Ceiling, not roster breadth.
Included Dining (25%)8.3
Specialty Dining (20%)8.6
Variety (15%)9.0
Quality Ceiling (10%)8.3
Value (10%)8.1
Casual & Quick Dining (10%)8.4
Special Experiences (5%)5.1
Suite & Restricted Dining (5%)7.9

Variety is Encore's strongest category at 9.0 — a category judgment on the real range of formats aboard: three parallel complimentary dining rooms, three distinct casual venues, two paid dessert kiosks, 24-hour Room Service, seven distinct specialty cuisines including a tableside teppanyaki concept, and a dedicated suite restaurant. Specialty Dining follows at 8.6, the highest of the four Breakaway Plus ships, reflecting a lineup that pairs longstanding Norwegian signature brands (Cagney's, Le Bistro, Teppanyaki, Food Republic) with the class's newest and highest-ceiling additions: Palomar and Onda by Scarpetta.

Included Dining reads 8.3, anchored by Savor, Taste, and The Manhattan Room all scoring as ordinary Included — Full Service venues, a fare-included Room Service menu, and a solid casual tier — the included ecosystem stands on its own here, not boosted by how strong Encore's specialty bench happens to be. Casual & Quick Dining reads 8.4 and Quality Ceiling reads 8.3, both class-leading bands lifted directly by Palomar and Onda's presence. Value comes in at 8.1: three venues are fare-included, every specialty restaurant runs a normal, expected specialty-dining cover within Norwegian's published $40–$60 per-person range, and a stronger specialty lineup doesn't by itself move this category — better restaurants raise Specialty Dining and Quality Ceiling, not Value.

Special Experiences reads 5.1 — low-to-moderate rather than a floor. Teppanyaki's tableside chef preparation supplies real experiential dining substance, but Encore carries no scored ticketed dinner-show format and no confirmed Chef's Table, so this category doesn't climb higher. (Norwegian Escape's Supper Club historically had a dinner-and-show role, but Norwegian currently presents it as entertainment, not dining, so it isn't scored on any ship in the class.) Suite & Restricted Dining reads 7.9: The Haven Restaurant is a genuine, dedicated, complimentary fine-dining venue exclusive to Haven suite guests — a real product, not a placeholder.

Encore's scorecard leans on genuine quality: three full-service dining rooms, the class's only Palomar-and-Onda-by-Scarpetta pairing, 24-hour Room Service, and a real suite restaurant. It's a leaner 17-venue roster than sister ship Escape's 18, but it ties Escape's 8.3 headline on the strength of what's actually on the plate.

Savor, Taste & The Manhattan Room

Three parallel, complimentary main-dining-room-equivalent venues under Norwegian's Freestyle Dining model — not one MDR, and not a lesser format than a fixed-seating dining room.

Included — Full Service · Deck 6

Savor

Complimentary main dining room

Included — Full ServiceShared across all four Breakaway Plus shipsFormat: Freestyle Dining — no fixed time, no assigned seating
8.1 / 10

Savor is one of Encore's three parallel complimentary main dining rooms, open to every guest with no cover charge. It's on Deck 6, alongside Taste, and the multi-course menu and full table service are exactly what you'd expect from a traditional MDR anywhere else. The flexible timing and open seating under Freestyle Dining is a service-model attribute — it changes how and when you book a table, not what's scored here.

Included — Full Service · Deck 6

Taste

Daily-changing menu with wine pairings

Included — Full ServiceShared across all four Breakaway Plus shipsFormat: Freestyle Dining — same service model as Savor
8.3 / 10

Taste is Encore's second complimentary main dining room, also on Deck 6, built around a daily-changing menu with wine pairings. Same open-to-all access, same no-cover-charge structure, same real service. On sister ship Norwegian Escape, a bookable private/group-dining space called “The Private Room at Taste” folds into this same venue rather than scoring as its own card — that's an Escape-specific note and doesn't apply to Encore's Taste, which is a standard single-room venue.

Included — Full Service · Deck 17

The Manhattan Room

Multi-course menu, extensive wine list

Included — Full ServiceShared across all four Breakaway Plus shipsFormat: Freestyle Dining — same service model as Savor and Taste
8.2 / 10

The Manhattan Room is Encore's third complimentary main dining room, on Deck 17 (it sits on Deck 7 on older sisters Escape and Joy — a locational difference only, not a scoring signal). All three rooms exist in parallel so guests genuinely have a choice of atmosphere on any given night, and none of the three functions as a backup to the others. None is described here as an “assigned-seating MDR,” because none has assigned seating — that's the whole point of Freestyle Dining, and it's a convenience for guests, never a quality mark against any of the three rooms.

What's already included

Beyond Savor, Taste, and The Manhattan Room covered above, Encore's included casual roster runs three more venues, plus 24-hour Room Service. The Local Bar & Grill (7.6) is a 24-hour pub-style eatery on Deck 7 — functionally the same concept as O'Sheehan's on older sister Escape, under Norwegian's newer “Local” branding used fleetwide on the three newer Breakaway Plus ships. American Diner (7.4) is a 1950s-style diner on Deck 17, serving pool-deck comfort food. Garden Café (7.7) is Encore's indoor buffet on Deck 16, covering breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Room Service (7.0) rounds out the included tier. Encore's own current page confirms 24-hour in-cabin dining: individual menu items are complimentary, a convenience charge of up to $9.95 applies per order (continental breakfast carries a separate $4.95 fee instead), plus 20% gratuity on chargeable items — and Haven and Suite guests are exempt from those fees. It's the same fleetwide policy carried on both prior Norwegian classes.

All four of these, alongside Savor, Taste, and The Manhattan Room, are fully included in Encore's fare, with no reservation gate beyond ordinary Freestyle Dining booking — Room Service carries its own delivery-fee structure noted above, and it's the only one of the seven with any charge attached.

06

Casual dining & the dessert kiosks

Two small paid dessert counters round out Encore's casual tier — confirmed present on Encore and Escape, confirmed absent on Joy and Bliss.

The Bake Shop (7.2) is a small paid pastry counter, confirmed present on Encore and independently verified absent on Joy and Bliss — checked directly against each ship's own current Norwegian page. Gelato (7.3) is Encore's small paid gelato counter, the same concept as Dolce Gelato on Escape, likewise independently verified absent on Joy and Bliss. Each scores as its own standalone Extra Cost — Casual venue rather than folding into a shared food-hall entry — there's no Indulge-Food-Hall equivalent on this class.

Menu items and hours vary by sailing and season. Verify current pricing and hours in the Norwegian Cruise Line app or onboard.

07

Specialty dining

Seven standard specialty restaurants plus one tableside experience concept — and the class's only Palomar-and-Onda-by-Scarpetta pairing.

Encore's specialty ecosystem scores 8.6, the highest of the four Breakaway Plus ships. Cagney's Steakhouse (8.4) is Norwegian's longstanding fleet-wide signature steakhouse brand, on Deck 8, running Premium Black Angus beef. In the same 2024/2025 dry dock that brought in Palomar, Cagney's was expanded to absorb the former Los Lobos space — Los Lobos itself is not a current venue on Encore, confirmed via Norwegian press releases as removed and folded into Cagney's. Le Bistro (8.3) is another longstanding Norwegian fleet-wide signature, a French restaurant carrying the same score as on both prior Norwegian classes.

Onda by Scarpetta (8.3) is a modern Italian restaurant on Deck 8, a licensed Scarpetta-brand collaboration — confirmed via Norwegian's own 2019 debut announcement as an Encore-exclusive concept among these four ships, and confirmed absent even on near-sister Norwegian Bliss via direct verification of Bliss's own current page. Teppanyaki (8.2) is Japanese hibachi grill on Deck 6, tableside chef preparation in the same experiential-dining format as Hasuki on Prima Plus/Prima. Palomar (8.1) is Mediterranean seafood on Deck 8, also added in the 2024/2025 dry dock, replacing the former Ocean Blue — Ocean Blue is not a current Encore venue.

Food Republic (7.9) is Asian-Latin fusion, tapas-style small plates, carrying the same brand and score as on Prima Class. Q Texas Smokehouse (7.9) is Texas BBQ — ribs, chicken, and brisket smoked on board with live music, on Deck 6 — confirmed present on Joy, Bliss, and Encore, and confirmed absent on Escape, the class's oldest ship, which predates this concept's rollout.

Current Norwegian material publishes only an aggregate $40–$60 per person specialty-dining range across these restaurants, not itemized per-venue cover charges — treat that as the reliable figure rather than any single per-restaurant number.

08

Suite & restricted dining

A real, dedicated, complimentary restaurant exclusive to Haven suite guests — not an absence, and not a placeholder.

Suite/Access-Restricted · Deck 18

The Haven Restaurant

Exclusive to Haven suite guests, complimentary and bundled into their fare

Suite/Access-RestrictedShared across all four Breakaway Plus shipsStatus: a genuinely operating, standalone restaurant
7.8 / 10

The Haven Restaurant is a dedicated, standalone fine-dining venue on Deck 18, exclusive to Haven suite guests and complimentary as part of their fare. It scores as a normal Suite/Access-Restricted category venue, exactly the way a genuine suite restaurant should — there's no absence-override language to apply here, because there's no absence. Enhanced Haven access or priority booking to other, public venues doesn't add credit to this category; the venue score reflects the dedicated restaurant itself.

Where the class stands

The Haven Restaurant is a real, dedicated suite-exclusive restaurant on all four Breakaway Plus ships, the same model carried on both prior Norwegian classes. Encore's overall Suite & Restricted Dining category reads 7.9, reflecting the full category judgment rather than the venue score alone.

09

What's not aboard — or not scored

A handful of things this guide deliberately leaves out of Encore's scored roster, and why.

Held out of the scored roster
Starbucks
Present onboard, but a coffee kiosk, not a dining venue
Present per Norwegian's own page on Encore, Joy, and Bliss (confirmed absent on older sister Escape, a real ship difference). Excluded fleet-wide as a coffee kiosk, not a dining venue, regardless of presence.
Observation Lounge
Onboard, but not a scored dining venue
Present per Norwegian's own page on Encore, Joy, and Bliss (confirmed absent on Escape). It's present onboard but doesn't operate as a qualifying standing dining venue.
The District Brew House
A bar, not a dining venue
Present on all four Breakaway Plus ships per Norwegian's own pages, described only in beverage terms. The District Brew House is a bar, not a dining venue — not scored as one on any ship in this class.
Los Lobos
A real, confirmed past product — not current
Confirmed via Norwegian press releases as removed from Encore (and Bliss) in the 2024/2025 dry docks, folded into an expanded Cagney's Steakhouse. Not a current venue on Encore.
A ticketed dinner-show or Chef's Table
Not part of the current roster
No ticketed dinner-show format or Chef's Table appears on Encore's current Norwegian dining page, and this project doesn't count a theatrical dinner-show venue anywhere without current, active confirmation beyond a surviving webpage or venue name. (Norwegian Escape's Supper Club is a related but separate case — Norwegian currently lists it as entertainment, not dining, on Escape's own page.)
Coco's
Removed in the 2024 dry dock
Coco's operated on Encore until Norwegian's 2024 dry dock removed it and expanded Teppanyaki into the space — the same refit that replaced Ocean Blue with Palomar. Not a current venue.
“The Private Room at Taste”
An Escape-only note, not part of Encore's roster
This bookable space folds into Taste on sister ship Escape and is never counted as a separate venue there. It doesn't apply to Encore at all.

Smart moves before you sail

Book Onda by Scarpetta if you sail no other ship in the class

It's Encore's exclusive, and the clearest reason her specialty lineup outscores every other Breakaway Plus ship. Pair it with Palomar and you've covered the class's two newest concepts in one cruise.

Savor, Taste, and Manhattan Room aren't interchangeable

Same complimentary, full-service structure, but different setting and deck — try more than one across your sailing.

Freestyle Dining means book ahead for peak times

No fixed seating means no fixed line either, but popular restaurants and prime evening slots still fill up — reserve specialty dinners as early as your app allows.

Book Teppanyaki if you want tableside theater

It's the clearest source of genuine experiential dining aboard, and the closest thing to a dinner-show format on this class.

The Haven Restaurant is worth using, not just having

It's a real, complimentary, dedicated restaurant for Haven guests — not a lounge with a menu. Use the access, it's already paid for.

The Bake Shop and Gelato are easy to miss

They're small, standalone counters rather than part of a bigger food hall — worth a deliberate stop rather than counting on stumbling into them.

Verify current pricing before you book

Current Breakaway Plus Class specialty cover charges generally run $40–$60 per person before the 20% service charge; pricing varies by venue and can change — confirm current rates in the Norwegian Cruise Line app before committing.

Norwegian Encore in her class

Norwegian Breakaway Plus Class · four sailing ships

A genuinely different roster on every ship

Norwegian Escape (2015), Norwegian Joy (2017), Norwegian Bliss (2018), and Norwegian Encore (2019) are the four ships in this class, and unlike either prior Norwegian class, their dining rosters genuinely differ: Escape carries 18 scored venues, Joy and Bliss carry 15 each, and Encore carries 17. All four share Savor, Taste, and The Manhattan Room as three parallel complimentary main dining rooms and a real, dedicated Haven Restaurant, but the specialty and dessert-kiosk lineups diverge ship to ship. Encore ties Escape's 8.3 headline (Escape weighted 8.300, Encore weighted 8.275) by a different route: Escape wins on breadth — eight distinct specialty restaurants across the class's largest roster — while Encore wins on quality, as the only ship carrying both Palomar and Onda by Scarpetta.

Compare all four ships side by side →

Say this plainly: this class does not share one dining roster across its ships. Each ship page, including this one, presents its own roster and its own venue count; only the class guide compares across all four.

13

Quick answers

Does Norwegian Encore have a main dining room?

Norwegian Encore has three: Savor, Taste, and The Manhattan Room, all complimentary, multi-course, open to every guest, and structurally equivalent to a traditional main dining room. They run under Norwegian's Freestyle Dining model, which means no fixed dining time and no assigned seating — that's a service-model detail about how you book a table, not a reason any of the three is scored differently than a fixed-seating dining room elsewhere.

What makes Norwegian Encore's specialty dining different from her sister ship Norwegian Bliss?

Both Bliss and Encore carry Palomar, added in 2024/2025 dry docks. Encore is the only ship in the class that also carries Onda by Scarpetta, a modern Italian restaurant that debuted exclusively on Encore in 2019 and remains confirmed absent even on near-sister Bliss. That second restaurant is what pushes Encore's Specialty Dining and Quality Ceiling scores above Bliss's.

Does Norwegian Encore have suite-restricted dining?

Yes. The Haven Restaurant is a dedicated, standalone fine-dining venue on Deck 18, exclusive to Haven suite guests and complimentary as part of their fare. It's a real, currently operating restaurant, not a placeholder — it scores 7.8 as a normal Suite/Access-Restricted venue.

Is Norwegian Encore's dining roster the same as her sister ships'?

No. Norwegian Breakaway Plus Class ships genuinely differ ship to ship: Escape carries 18 scored venues, Joy and Bliss carry 15 each, and Encore carries 17. Encore is the only one of the four with both Palomar and Onda by Scarpetta, and one of only two (with Escape) carrying a dessert kiosk pairing (Encore's is The Bake Shop and Gelato).

Why does Norwegian Encore tie Norwegian Escape's 8.3 headline if Escape has more venues?

They tie for different reasons. Escape wins on breadth: eight distinct specialty restaurants across an 18-venue roster, the class's largest. Encore wins on quality: she's the only ship in the class carrying both Palomar and Onda by Scarpetta, her two newest and highest-ceiling specialty concepts, which lift her Specialty Dining score to 8.6 and her Quality Ceiling to 8.3 — enough to match Escape's 8.3 headline on a 17-venue roster instead of 18.

Is there a ticketed dinner show or Chef's Table on Norwegian Encore?

No current Breakaway Plus dining roster includes a scored ticketed dinner show. Norwegian Escape's Supper Club historically had a dinner-and-show role, but Norwegian currently presents it as an entertainment venue rather than a restaurant. Chef's Table isn't part of Encore's current dining roster either. Los Lobos, once a Bliss/Encore specialty venue, was removed in the same 2024/2025 dry docks that brought in Palomar and Onda by Scarpetta, folded into an expanded Cagney's Steakhouse rather than continuing as its own restaurant.
