Marina in 2011 and Riviera in 2012, then nothing. For over a decade Oceania grew by refurbishing rather than building.

The thing I’d want a client to hear

Vista is an excellent ship and the easiest recommendation in the fleet for someone who wants current hardware. But be clear about the two comparisons that actually matter.

Against Marina and Riviera, the food is identical — you are buying cabins and calm, not a better dinner. Against her own sister Allura, she is two years older for what is frequently similar money. If both are sailing your itinerary, check the fares carefully before defaulting to the name you recognize.

What is Oceania Vista?

Oceania Vista entered service in May 2023 as the first ship of the Allura class and the first new Oceania hull since Riviera in 2012. She is around 67,000 gross tons and carries 1,200 guests in 600 suites, making her the first all-suite ship in the fleet.

Vista or Allura?

They are near-identical sisters built two years apart to the same specification, so the choice comes down to itinerary and fare. Allura entered service in July 2025 and is the newer hull, but paying a meaningful premium for two years of age on an otherwise identical ship is rarely good value.

Is Oceania Vista all suites?

Yes. She carries 1,200 guests in 600 suites, so every accommodation is counted as a suite rather than a stateroom. The category ladder still rises above that, but the entry level moved up rather than the ceiling moving higher, which is the clearest hardware difference from the older O class.

Is Vista worth booking over Marina or Riviera?

It depends what you are buying. The dining roster is identical across both classes, including the Culinary Center and Red Ginger. What Vista adds is all-suite accommodation, fifty fewer guests on a slightly larger hull, the Aquamar wellness program and much newer cabins. If those justify the fare gap for you, book her.

When did Oceania Vista launch?

She entered service in May 2023, ending a twelve-year gap since Riviera in 2012. That gap is the most interesting fact about her: for over a decade Oceania grew by refurbishing existing ships rather than building new ones.

What is Oceania Sonata?

The next new Oceania class, due in 2027 at around 86,000 gross tons carrying 1,390 guests, which will make her the largest ship in the line's history. Five Sonata-class ships are on order for delivery in 2027, 2029, 2032, 2035 and 2037.
