Dreams wins on two things it prints itself. A 5-minute walk to the port, and an evening with two pools, saunas, a gym and two places to eat.
That walk is the hotel’s figure, not ours. Australis puts the pier about a 15-minute walk from the main square, so the hotel’s 5 minutes may be to the port area, not the Australis gangway — our pins read about 500 m. Breakfast is the gap. The pages we read don’t mention it at all.
One number doesn’t add up: the hotel says the airport is 6 km away, and our pins put it nearer 18 km. Plan the longer taxi, and ask about breakfast when you book.
Book it if
- You’re boarding Australis and want the pier close by
- A pool and a sauna sound right before four nights in the fjords
- You like a casino floor downstairs
Look elsewhere if
- You want breakfast confirmed in the rate
- You want a quiet heritage building rather than a casino complex
Your night before, from here
From check-in to the gangway, using only what Dreams publishes and our own map estimates.
Two places to eat, per the hotel: Lucky 7 for cocktails and boards, and Doña Inés, a buffet of meats, pasta and seafood.
No shuttle to the pier is listed, but the hotel itself prints “Puerto de Punta Arenas: 5 minutos a pie.” With bags, a taxi from the door is easier, and air-cruise guests don’t need the pier at all.
Breakfast isn’t mentioned on the hotel’s pages we read, so ask whether your rate includes it.
Dreams puts the port about 5 minutes away on foot; by our map Muelle Prat is about 500 m off in a straight line. Australis checks in there from 13:00, so roll the bags down or take a taxi.
The hotel lists free parking for your stay — it doesn’t say a car can stay while you sail. Ask before you plan on it.

Getting here, and on to the ship
By our map estimate Dreams is about 18.2 km from Punta Arenas Airport in a straight line, and about 500 m from Muelle Prat. Every question mark below is a ride you book yourself.
No airport transfer is mentioned. The hotel says the airport is 6 km away, which doesn’t match our pins (about 18 km in a straight line) — budget for the longer ride.
No shuttle to the pier is listed, but the hotel itself prints “Puerto de Punta Arenas: 5 minutos a pie.” With bags, a taxi from the door is easier, and air-cruise guests don’t need the pier at all.
From PUQ without a hotel shuttle
No fare is published by the airport or an operator that we could find. Three unofficial guides put a shared van at about CLP 5,000 to 6,000 a head and a taxi at about CLP 10,000 to 13,000. There’s no direct city bus, though Bus-Sur’s Natales buses stop at the airport if you ask when you buy the ticket, per one of those guides. Antarctica21 and Quark include the group transfer from the airport on Day 1, so check your documents first. The airport page has what is and isn’t published.

Flying in the morning you sail? Australis checks in from 13:00 to 17:00, and both air-cruise lines want you in town by early afternoon; the airport page has the landing check.
Which quay
Muelle PratMeasured to Muelle Prat, where Australis checks you in from 13:00 to 17:00 and boards at 18:00, Dreams is about 500 m away in a straight line. Flying the Drake with Antarctica21 or Quark instead? Then the pier doesn’t matter — your day starts at the operator’s briefing in town and ends at the airport. The Punta Arenas cruise guide keeps the two apart.
