No. It ranks ships by how well each one fits the trip you described. A ship near the bottom of your list can be a great ship. She's just built for someone else. Change one tap and watch the order change.

From our own guides. 179 ships on 13 lines are in the tool. Each ship's Fit Profile scores families, couples, relaxation, luxury and value from 1 to 10. Most ship guides print it. For about 80 ships whose guides don't print one yet, mostly Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, Disney, Virgin and the luxury lines, we use our draft scores, built from her guides on the same scale, and her profile tab says so. Each entertainment guide scores seven categories, from production shows to kids clubs. Dining comes from Dining Fit, read live for the way you eat. Gross tons, guests, the year she entered service and where she sails in 2026–27 come from the lines and trade press, checked in October 2026. Every result links to the guides behind it.

Who's going sets the base. Families lean on kids clubs, family entertainment and the Families score. Couples lean on the Couples score, relaxation and dining. Friends lean on nightlife and entertainment. What the trip is for adds the rest: switching off counts relaxation and space per guest, big-ship energy counts shows, thrills and nightlife, eating brilliantly hands the most weight to Dining Fit, and the places counts how many regions she sails and favors smaller ships. Each must-have adds weight of its own. Open any ship in the ranking to see exactly what counted for you.

She takes a 15% cut before her Fit is set, and the reason shows on her row. Thrills means attractions scored 6 or better. A newer ship means about 12 years or younger, counted from the year she was built, and a major refit counts for half, so a 2001 ship rebuilt in 2018 counts as about 16. Quiet takes a cut on ships carrying more than 3,500 guests. And if the trip is about the places, a ship built mainly for ocean crossings, like Queen Mary 2, takes a cut too. If no ship in your list has everything, your match card says so and names the best ship that does.

No. Virgin Voyages, Viking and Oceania sail adults-only, 18 and over. Oceania made the switch for new bookings on January 7, 2026. Tap Family or Three generations, or pick Kids clubs, and those ships leave your list. When Disney isn't your match but comes close, her best ship takes the alternate slot.

It picks which lines you see. Mainstream is Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Norwegian, MSC and Margaritaville at Sea. Premium is Celebrity, Princess, Holland America, Virgin Voyages and Cunard. Luxury is Oceania and Viking. Disney shows at Mainstream and Premium, because its fares run about what Royal Caribbean's newest ships charge, and its card says so. The value pick under your match is the best fit from a cheaper price level that's at least as good on value, when there is one. Disney is never the value pick.

Open What it really costs under your match. It adds the line's daily gratuities for everyone in the cabin, Wi-Fi for one device, and the paid dinners from Dining Fit's week plan for the way you eat, for 4, 7 or 10 nights. It shows what that line puts in the fare, too: Oceania includes tips and Wi-Fi, Virgin includes Wi-Fi and every restaurant, Viking includes Wi-Fi and wine and beer with meals. Drinks, excursions, port taxes and the spa aren't counted. Prices change often, so we confirm yours when we quote.

Size isn't the same as crowding. Space per guest is the honest measure: gross tons divided by guests at double occupancy. Open Size, age & motion and you'll see where your match sits against the fleet. Bigger hulls with stabilizers usually ride smoother, and a cabin low and midship moves least. Cabin Fit shows exactly where a cabin sits on 143 of the ships here.

They narrow the list to ships sailing the region you picked, or from the US ports you picked, on their 2026–27 schedules. They never change a score: a ship is just as good a fit whether or not she sails from your port this year. Ships move, so we check the exact sailing when we quote.

Ships that aren't sailing for US travelers in 2026–27 are left out of your matches and listed under the ranking with the reason. Right now that's Carnival Adventure, Carnival Encounter, Carnival Splendor, Celebrity Millennium, Diamond Princess, Grand Princess, MSC Bellissima, Navigator of the Seas, Sapphire Princess. Norwegian Sky left the Norwegian fleet in September 2026. Spectrum of the Seas and Disney Adventure sail from Asia and aren't in the tool.

Some of our guides don't score everything. Luxury lines have no kids clubs, a few ships have no entertainment scorecard for a category, and accessibility isn't scored for most ships because their guides don't carry the evidence. Anything a guide doesn't score is left out of that ship's Fit, never guessed. Her expanded row says how much of what you asked about her guides cover.
