Cruises From Barbados (Bridgetown)

Barbados is a turnaround port for small ships and British lines, not for the big US brands. For a US cruiser in 2026–27 that means Star Clippers, Silversea, SeaDream and Windstar, plus Princess from January 2027 — all boarding at Shed 3, inside a gated working harbour.

Go straight to the question you came with. Each card jumps to its answer.

01

In brief

Bridgetown’s Deep Water Harbour is a working cargo port with cruise berths inside it. Ships that start or end here use the homeport terminal, Shed 3, per Barbados Port Inc, and free port shuttle buses carry you and your luggage between Shed 3 and the Cruise Terminal car park.

This page is for starting or ending a cruise here. Only calling? Our Barbados port-day guide covers the walk into town, and our shore excursion guide covers the tours.

Be clear about who actually sails from here. Barbados Port Inc says a fleet of homeporting ships uses the island every year, and a 2024 trade report counted 19 lines — most of them luxury, sail or British.

The mainstream news is Princess. Its own itinerary page lists Crown Princess round trips from Barbados departing January 8, 15 and 22, February 19, and March 5 and 19, 2027 — published departures, not a promise of cabins. Cruise Industry News says the programme is pitched at guests flying from the UK, not the US. We found no Royal Caribbean, Celebrity or Carnival sailing that starts here in 2026–27.

It’s a fly-in port. We found no cruise parking, and the port allows no extended waiting, so land the day before.

Lines starting cruises here

Deployments change every season, so this roster is dated and sourced, and it lives only here.

Current as of October 19, 2026

Checked on October 19, 2026, against the lines’ own pages where we could read them.

Star Clippers runs Royal Clipper on seven-night Bridgetown round trips every Saturday from December 5, 2026 to March 27, 2027, alternating the Windward Islands and the Grenadines, per its US brochure. Royal Clipper also leaves here for Balboa on October 31, 2026, and Star Clipper ends its westbound transatlantic here on December 5, then sails the same day for the Panama Canal.

Silversea sells Silver Spirit round trips from Bridgetown on December 27, 2026 (8 days) and January 4, 2027 (11 days).

SeaDream’s own voyage pages show four SeaDream I departures from Bridgetown — November 21 and 28, 2026, and March 6 and 13, 2027 — and two of them end elsewhere, in Antigua and San Juan.

Windstar’s own listing shows Star Legend’s seven-day Jewels of the Windward Islands, round trip from Bridgetown, November 27 to December 4, 2026. Cruise Industry News counts two Star Legend sailings from Barbados that season; we have Windstar’s own word for this one only.

Princess’s own itinerary page lists Barbados-to-Barbados Crown Princess cruises departing January 8, 15 and 22, February 19, and March 5 and 19, 2027, plus an Emerald Princess round trip from December 17 to 24, 2027. Those are published departures, not cabin availability and not the full calendar. Cruise Industry News adds that Crown Princess calls at San Juan, where more guests board.

For British cruisers, P&O Cruises flies Arvia guests in on a Virgin Atlantic charter from Manchester every 14 days to join on a Friday, and Marella runs Explorer 2 and Voyager from Barbados. Royal Caribbean’s Barbados guide mentions Grandeur of the Seas, with no dates — and that ship sails from Tampa in 2026–27.

Star Clippers · Royal Clipper, 7 nights, weekly Silversea · Silver Spirit, 8 and 11 days SeaDream · SeaDream I, four departures Windstar · Star Legend, Nov 27, 2026 Princess · Crown Princess, six 2027 dates listed P&O Cruises · Arvia fly-cruise (UK) Marella · Explorer 2, Voyager (UK)

One law to pack for: camouflage clothing is illegal in Barbados, even for children, per the US State Department. Leave it at home.

04

Shed 3, the gate and the car park

Turnaround passengers use the homeport terminal, Shed 3, per Barbados Port Inc. The port’s free shuttle buses carry passengers and luggage between Shed 3 and the Cruise Terminal car park, which is the pick-up and drop-off area.

Through its partners, the port lists meet-and-greet, check-in and dispatch, security screening of guests and bags, direct airport-to-seaport transfers and baggage moved between the two under Customs seal. Whether your sailing uses any of that is the line’s call, not the port’s — check your documents.

Driving in? Anyone dropping off or collecting a cruise passenger outside the lines’ and agencies’ transfers has to apply online first, and approved drivers show Security a QR code. There’s no extended waiting or parking, and we found no published luggage storage.

One more thing the State Department passes on: the US Coast Guard “has concerns about the security practices in the ports of Barbados” and tells passengers to be careful. Keep your bags in sight until they’re checked.

05

Parking, in short

We found no cruise parking at the Port of Bridgetown. Barbados Port Inc says there’s no extended waiting or parking in the port because of space limits, and anyone driving in to drop off needs an online entry request and a QR code.

Several of our hotels offer free parking for your stay — the Courtyard, the Hilton, Fairmont and O2’s FAQ say so, and Hotels.com lists it at Coconut Court and Silverpoint — but none says the car can stay while you sail. Fly in and take a taxi.

06

Getting here

Grantley Adams International Airport (BGI) is about 15 km from the harbour in a straight line by our map. Taxis have no meters, per gov.bb, but the fares are set by law, not by the driver: the government’s schedule, in force since January 7, 2023, has the airport to Bridgetown at BDS$74.

Nonstop from the US: Wikipedia lists American from Charlotte, Miami and Philadelphia, Delta from Atlanta, JetBlue from Boston and New York–JFK, and United from Newark and Washington–Dulles. The airport’s own airline list names American and JetBlue but not Delta or United, and gives no routes — so check the airline for your dates.

United announced weekly year-round flights from Newark and Dulles in 2023, and a Barbados news post says both go daily from December 17, 2026 to January 4, 2027.

Entry: a US passport valid on arrival with a blank page, no visa for stays of up to six months, and proof that you’ll leave — your cruise booking — per the State Department, which says to carry the passport even if your line accepts other documents. Barbados also requires its online Immigration and Customs form, which opens 72 hours before you arrive.

Agree the price before you get in, and ask whether it’s per person or per trip and in Barbados or US dollars, as the port advises. The Barbados dollar is fixed at two to the US dollar, per the Central Bank, as our port page explains. Grantley Adams to the ship has the rest.

The night before, ranked: we’ve scored fourteen hotels for the night before a Barbados sailing, from Carlisle Bay to the west coast, on what each one publishes. None runs a ride to the ship, and none is a walk. Four worth knowing:
