Barbados has one airport, and the ride is a taxi. Grantley Adams is about 15 km from the harbour in a straight line, and the government’s 2023 fare schedule prices the airport to Bridgetown at BDS$74.

Fly into Grantley Adams International Airport (BGI). It’s about 15 km from the harbour in a straight line by our map, and a taxi is the ride: BDS$74 (US$37) to Bridgetown on the government’s 2023 schedule.
Taxis have no meters, per gov.bb — the fare is fixed by law, not by a clock on the dashboard. Agree it before you get in, and ask whether it’s per person or per trip and in which dollars, as the port advises.
barbados.org says a bigger car for extra luggage costs one and a half times the rate.
No one publishes a drive time from the airport to the port. Radisson puts Carlisle Bay, next to the harbour, about 25 minutes away, and the port warns of heavy weekday traffic around Bridgetown in the morning and late afternoon.
Booking.com lists airport taxis you can book ahead. Check the pickup point, the price and the cancellation terms before you book.

Princess’s itinerary page shows published departures, not cabin availability, and it isn’t a full calendar; it also lists an Emerald Princess round trip on December 17, 2027. Its 2027–28 Caribbean release names five homeports without Barbados — so check your own date. Royal Caribbean’s guide mentions Grandeur of the Seas sailing from Bridgetown, with no dates; that ship sails from Tampa in 2026–27, per AOL.

One way, in Barbados dollars, which the Central Bank fixes at two to the US dollar. A bigger car for extra luggage is 1½ times the taxi rate, per barbados.org. Agree the fare, the currency and per car or per person before you get in.

There’s no railway, so it’s a taxi or the line’s transfer. Flying in to board: the State Department says US citizens need a passport valid on arrival with at least one blank page, no visa for tourist stays of six months or less, and proof of plans to leave — your cruise booking.
Traveling with children? Bring a birth certificate or other proof of your relationship.
Barbados requires its online Immigration and Customs form, which opens 72 hours before arrival, per the government’s portal. Fill it in once it opens, not at the airport.
Ending a cruise here: Barbados Port Inc lists direct transfers from the seaport to the airport and baggage moved under Customs seal, through its homeporting partners; ask your line whether your sailing uses them.
We found no published luggage storage at the port or the airport, so a late flight means planning where the bags go.

One night on the island takes the risk out of sail day. Carlisle Bay is the closest stretch of hotels to the port, about 3 km from the harbour in a straight line, and the south coast is closer to the airport.
