Ignite the Night is the newest and most heavily promoted title in the Stardust Theater: a red-carpet, awards-show-themed original. NCL describes it as blending the visual appeal of television's biggest awards nights with high-energy dance and design.

It debuted on Gem on September 5, 2025, on a Canada & New England sailing from Quebec City. That's part of a fleet-wide rollout of four new original productions across nine NCL ships.

Norwegian Jewel received the identical title back in March 2025.

Breakaway, Epic, Prima, Encore, Escape and Getaway each received a different original show in the same wave.

Broadway Cabaret showcases the "dazzling talents of Gem's own Production Vocalists" performing Broadway standards.

Blazing Boots is a pop-country tribute built around Carrie Underwood, Shania Twain and Florida Georgia Line-style hits. The same production is also confirmed running on sister ship Norwegian Jade.

Get Down Tonight is a 1970s-themed revue, per NCL's own current ship guide.

No licensed Broadway-style musical has ever run in the Stardust Theater.

That's a confirmed never-had, not a loss like Getaway's retired Million Dollar Quartet or Breakaway's two lost licensed titles.

Independent show-history round-ups of the whole class confirm the same gap on all four true Jewel Class sisters. That's Jewel's Le Cirque Bijou and Rock You Tonight, Pearl's Legends in Concert, and Jade's own Blazing Boots run.

None of them carries the Beetlejuice- or Jersey Boys-caliber licensed title NCL's newer ships now build around.

The Welcome Aboard Show rounds out the ship's other staged entertainment. So do rotating guest variety acts: comedians, jugglers, hypnotists and circus performers.

Spinnaker Lounge (Deck 13) is a dedicated late-night room. Per NCL's own copy, "the atmosphere is charged when the music comes up and the stage becomes a dance floor." Bliss Ultra Lounge & Nightclub (Deck 7) carries live sets and karaoke by day.

Its nightclub programming takes over after dark (see Nightlife below).

Famous Riffz is a music-trivia format built around a live house band.

Beyond those, reviewer accounts and NCL's own venue listings describe regular live music running through several of the ship's bars. That includes Shakers Martini & Cocktail Bar, Maltings Beer & Whiskey Bar, Sugarcane Mojito Bar and O'Sheehan's Neighborhood Bar & Grill.

Those are general-purpose bars, though, not single-format specialty rooms.

What's confirmed absent.

It matters for the comparison: no dedicated comedy club (Headliners), no dueling-piano format (Howl at the Moon), and no purpose-built rock-and-roll room (Syd Norman's Pour House). All of that is genuine Breakaway Class-and-later hardware.

It predates Gem's 2007 build by six to twelve years, and it has never been retrofitted onto any Jewel Class ship.

Deal or No Deal and Wheel of Fortune run as interactive game shows in the Stardust Theater. Wheel of Fortune is playable via mobile device.

Famous Riffz pairs music trivia with a live band.

The rest of a sea day fills out with cooking and vegetable-carving demonstrations, towel-animal-making classes, and dance and fitness sessions. Ship-wide trivia, art auctions and drink tastings round it out.

Bingo and casino tournaments round things out, plus a sports complex (basketball, pickleball, volleyball), a jogging track and a video arcade.

The rock climbing wall (Decks 14-15, more than 20 feet above deck) and a full sports complex (basketball, pickleball and volleyball courts, Deck 13) anchor Gem's recreation offering. Alongside them: a jogging/walking track, two pools and a single waterslide.

Six hot tubs sit across Deck 12.

Vibe Beach Club, added during an April 24-May 11, 2026 dry dock at Chantiers Navals de Marseille, is the genuine new addition. It's an adults-only sundeck on Deck 14 with 54 premium lounge chairs, one additional hot tub, seven private two-guest cabanas and a full-service private bar.

That's the same enhancement added to sister ship Norwegian Jade in the same window. It's also Gem's first purpose-built adults-only outdoor space in nearly two decades of service.

Several confirmed never-had absences matter here, and they're all the same story from different angles. The multi-slide Aqua Park, the harness-based ropes course, the go-kart track and laser tag are all Breakaway Class-and-later hardware.

They were introduced six to twelve years after Gem's 2007 delivery and never retrofitted onto any Jewel Class ship.

Mini golf, an ice rink and a FlowRider have never been part of this platform at all.

None of this is a removal — it never existed on this hull.

That's the same "never-had, not removed" distinction this project already applies to Voyager Class's missing comedy clubs. It's the same one applied to Radiance Class's missing thrill hardware.

Bliss Ultra Lounge & Nightclub runs family activities and karaoke by day. After dark, it converts into a DJ-driven, space-themed nightclub, staying open late.

Spinnaker Lounge runs its own dance-floor programming into the evening as the room's live music picks up.

That ship-specific evidence sits underneath the same real, dated, line-wide recognition already documented on every other NCL ship in this project. Norwegian Cruise Line won Cruise Critic's 2025 Best in Cruise Award for Best Nightlife (Ocean).

It's one of only two lines this project has found beating Virgin Voyages for that specific title.

Gem's score sits a half-point below Getaway's 7.5 for a specific, structural reason. She has never carried a Spice H2O-style adults-only party deck where the pool floor rises into a dance floor after dark.

The new Vibe Beach Club, added in her spring 2026 dry dock, is a relaxation-first cabana venue. It's built around loungers, cabanas and a private bar.

It's new hardware, but not a dance-floor conversion space, so it adds to Recreation rather than closing this specific Nightlife gap.

Deal or No Deal and Wheel of Fortune run as shared, participatory game shows in the Stardust Theater. They work for mixed-age groups.

The rock climbing wall, sports complex and pool deck are all open to the whole family within their own height and age limits.

What's genuinely missing, not merely unconfirmed: an all-ages deck party in the Spice H2O/Glow Party mold, a scheduled parade, and a standalone multi-day family festival. Any family-designed aqua or ice production is missing too.

Gem carries neither an AquaTheater nor an ice rink.

Her recreation deck doesn't pair a signature attraction with a family-athletic spectacle. That's the kind Royal Caribbean and Disney build their top Family scores around.

Splash Academy splits ages 3-12 into four confirmed age groups, running complimentary creative play, active sports competitions and craft activities.

Fee-based supervision is available during meal times ($6 per child) and for late-night hours ($6 per hour). That's real, priced detail this project hasn't been able to independently confirm on several other NCL ships scored so far.

Entourage (13-17) offers teens their own modern, digitally-oriented space for gaming and social activities.

Guppies (6 months-3 years) is confirmed present, but it's parent-accompanied open play, not staffed drop-off childcare.

The one real structural gap: children under 3 need a parent or guardian present at all times in Guppies. That's a fleet-wide NCL policy, not a Gem-specific shortfall.

The same gap is already documented on Getaway, Prima, Aqua, Viva and Luna.

It's the reason her Kids Clubs score sits at 6.5, not higher. That's despite otherwise real, confirmed, age-banded programming from early childhood through the teen years.

Stardust Theater (Decks 5-7, 1,042 seats) is the three-deck main venue for Ignite the Night, Broadway Cabaret, Blazing Boots and Get Down Tonight. It also hosts the Welcome Aboard Show and the ship's game shows.

Bliss Ultra Lounge & Nightclub (Deck 7) and Spinnaker Lounge (Deck 13) carry the ship's nightlife and dance-floor programming (see Nightlife above). Vibe Beach Club (Deck 14), added in the April-May 2026 dry dock, is the ship's new adults-only sundeck.

Live music and casual entertainment also run through Shakers Martini & Cocktail Bar, Maltings Beer & Whiskey Bar and Sugarcane Mojito Bar. It also runs through O'Sheehan's Neighborhood Bar & Grill, Magnum's Champagne Bar and Java Cafe & Bar.

No major venue has been reported as undersized for a roughly 2,382-guest ship in the sources checked for this page.

Included: Ignite the Night, Broadway Cabaret, Blazing Boots and Get Down Tonight. Also included: the Welcome Aboard Show, Deal or No Deal, Wheel of Fortune and Famous Riffz.

The video arcade's paid games and specialty dining cost extra too. The casino runs on its own pay structure.

Pricing varies by sailing. Check the Norwegian Cruise Line app or Cruise Planner for current terms, rather than assuming a fleet-wide rate.

Norwegian Gem doesn't carry a confirmed signature paid experience in this section's scope, as of this review. That scope covers immersive dinner theater, an escape room, or a staged narrative format.

This project found no Bamboozled-style tabletop escape experience or dinner-theater production documented for this ship, unlike several of her Breakaway Class and Prima Class fleetmates.

Vibe Beach Club, her new adults-only sundeck, is distinctive. It's already scored where it belongs, though, under Recreation & Attractions, so it isn't double-counted here.

Vibe Beach Club cabanas and premium loungers are limited. They're best reserved through the Norwegian Cruise Line app before or early in the sailing.

The space is new, and demand hasn't been independently tracked yet.

Ignite the Night, Broadway Cabaret, Blazing Boots and Get Down Tonight all run on a published daily schedule, the Freestyle Daily. So do Deal or No Deal, Wheel of Fortune and Famous Riffz.

None of them requires a booking.

Splash Academy drop-off follows standard posted hours. Fee-based extended hours are available on most sailings: $6/child for meal-time supervision, $6/hour for late-night.

Cruisers who want a classic, smaller NCL package will find Gem delivering well on the evidence gathered so far. That package means a genuine variety of live-music bars, a real multi-use nightclub, and now a brand-new adults-only sundeck.

Families with kids from 3 through the teen years are reasonably served here. Splash Academy's four age groups and Entourage's own dedicated teen space cover them.

Families with a child under 3 needing staffed drop-off care should know Guppies is parent-accompanied, not a nursery.

Travelers who specifically want a comedy club, a purpose-built live-music room, a licensed Broadway-style musical, a ropes course, go-karts or laser tag should look elsewhere. Norwegian Breakaway, Getaway, Escape, Joy, Bliss, Encore and Prima all carry at least some of that — or try other lines entirely.

None of it has ever been part of the Jewel Class platform Gem belongs to.

Gem herself is a genuine Jewel Class ship, cleanly. She, Norwegian Jewel (2005), Norwegian Pearl (2006) and Norwegian Jade (2006) are four true sisters.

Meyer Werft built them within a few years and about 100 gross tons of each other (93,502-93,558 GT). They share the same Stardust Theater/Bliss Ultra Lounge/Splash Academy hardware family, and the same "no licensed musical, ever" production profile documented above.

Norwegian Spirit is a different question, and this site's own ships.csv gets it wrong. ships.csv currently groups Norwegian Spirit under the same norwegian-jewel-class slug as Gem, Jewel, Pearl and Jade. The evidence doesn't support treating her as a sister, though.

Spirit was built in 1998 by Meyer Werft for Star Cruises as SuperStar Leo. She was the lead and larger of a distinct two-ship Leo Class.

Her only sister, SuperStar Virgo, was renamed Star Navigator and stayed with Star Cruises, never joining NCL.

She transferred to Norwegian Cruise Line and was renamed Norwegian Spirit only in 2004, three years before Gem was even delivered.

At 75,904 GT she's roughly 17,600 tons smaller than Gem. She's also six to nine years older than the true Jewel Class quartet.

That's a different original owner, and a different hull design.

A different market the ship was built for — Asia-market Star Cruises service, not NCL's own Caribbean/Europe programme.

This is the same shape of correction this project has already made twice on the NCL side of ships.csv. One was Disney Adventure's misfiled "disney-wish-class" slug.

The other was Norwegian Breakaway's own "norwegian-breakaway-plus-class" mislabeling. It's flagged here for the record. ships.csv itself is left uncorrected pending a follow-up pass, out of scope for a content-scoring page.

Against the rest of this project. Gem's 6.1 is the new floor for Norwegian Cruise Line.

She sits half a point below Norwegian Joy (6.5) and 0.6 below Breakaway and Getaway's shared 6.7.

The gap traces to real, specific hardware absences, not her age alone. She carries neither Getaway's ropes course and multi-slide Aqua Park (Recreation), nor Getaway's six-format comedy/dueling-piano/rock live-music slate (Live Entertainment).

She also lacks a Spice H2O-style nightlife deck (Nightlife). Those are three separate, individually-sourced deltas — not one blanket "oldest ship" penalty.

Her one edge over the whole NCL group scored so far: Vibe Beach Club. It's more recently built (spring 2026) than any single piece of hardware documented on Breakaway, Getaway, Joy, Escape, Bliss or Encore.

That's worth noting, rather than assuming an older ship can't add anything current.

Against the wider project, 6.1 still lands above every Celebrity Cruises ship scored (6.2 at the very top, effectively tied). It also lands above three of the four Virgin Voyages ships.

That's the same shape of result this project has now documented on every NCL ship regardless of age. Even NCL's oldest, smallest-hardware ship clears most of Celebrity's and Virgin's range.

It does that on the strength of the line's fleet-wide Best Nightlife recognition and consistently full daily programming.
