Sheraton Guayaquil Hotel
About 900 m from the terminal by our map, with a free shuttle, a pool and a whirlpool, a 24-hour gym and a printed rate to leave a car.
Pre-Galápagos Hotels · Guayaquil
Ten hotels for the night before the island flight, scored on what they publish, not on reviews. Here the “ship” is the GYE departures area. Six publish a free airport shuttle, and two say breakfast is in the rate.
Three taps and we’ll show your three picks.
Change any answer and the picks change with it. They’re built from the same published facts as the ranking below. No hotel pays for a place here. Booking.com links earn us a commission, and they don’t change the order.
Matching weighs your answers against each hotel’s published shuttle, parking, breakfast, pool, kitchen and pet policies.
Five answers, and the page builds the whole thing: the hotel, the ride in, the ride to the airport, what happens to the car, what time to leave, and how you get home. Every figure is one the hotel, the line, Ecuador’s Galápagos authorities or a named guide publishes, or a straight-line distance between our own map pins. Where nobody publishes a number, you’ll see that instead of a guess.
There’s no long-stay parking to price here, so the plan assumes you fly in.
Who’s coming and the mood come from Your Match; the plan uses the same answers.
There are no partner links inside this planner. It’s built only from what the lines, Ecuador’s Galápagos authorities, each hotel or its named listing, and the two unofficial airport guides we name publish. The taxi and app fares are unofficial.
Sheraton wins on its own pages: a free airport shuttle, about 900 m from the terminal by our map, a pool and a whirlpool, and the only printed rate for leaving a car. Courtyard is second, with a free scheduled shuttle and a printed US$7.50 hotel car. Holiday Inn, beside the airport, takes third.
Narrow the ten by what your night needs. Save the ones you like. Tick up to three to compare side by side — the order is ours, the shortlist is yours.
Add your flight date and the links open on the night before.

Every distance ends at our estimated pin for the GYE terminal, and every one is a straight line between our own map pins. Most hotel pins are our estimates from street addresses, so treat the order inside a few hundred meters as rough.
With a week of Galápagos bags, ride, don’t walk — even from the Holiday Inn. Hotel del Parque is close on the map but across the Daule River, about 20 minutes by car, per Ecoventura.
Five things make a night before easy or hard. In Guayaquil the “ship” is the island flight, so distance is measured to the GYE terminal and “getting to the ship” means the hotel’s airport shuttle. Points come only from the hotel’s own site or its brand’s. Where we couldn’t read one, we show what Frommer’s, Hotels.com, Virtuoso or the line says, attributed, and it scores zero.
Silence scores zero, not a guess. Booking sites and other listings don’t count toward the score, even where we show what they say — and a line’s package transfer is the line’s, not the hotel’s.
By band, from our GYE terminal pin: beside the airport, to about 1.2 km in a straight line, 30; Kennedy Norte, to about 2.3 km, 24; downtown and the Malecón, to about 5 km, 18; farther out 10. Hotel del Parque goes in the 18 band, because it’s across the river.
A transfer the hotel runs or arranges, with a published price, 25. A ride only inside a package 20. The hotel’s own ride with no published fare 15. A walk the hotel itself prints at half a mile or less 15. Six hotels score 25 for a free airport shuttle printed on their own pages; Unipark scores 15 for a shuttle with no fare published. DoubleTree says it has none. Line package transfers, like Ecoventura’s at Hotel del Parque, don’t score.
A published rate to leave the car at the hotel while you’re in the islands 20; offered, but unpriced or not guaranteed, 14. Day rates in a public garage don’t count. Sheraton scores 20 for its printed US$18.30 a night after check-out. Courtyard scores 14: a fee applies if the car stays after check-out, with no price.
A breakfast the hotel says is included scores 10. Oro Verde and Unipark say breakfast is free. Sheraton, Courtyard and Hilton Colón say it costs extra, and the rest don’t say.
Pool 3, food or a bar on site 3, a kitchen in the room 3, a sauna or spa 3, a gym 3. Holiday Inn, Courtyard, Hilton Colón, Wyndham, Oro Verde and DoubleTree take 12 of the 15 from their own pages. Sonesta’s pool and Hotel del Parque’s restaurant come from listings, so they don’t count.
Ties are broken in order: any published parking while you’re away, any stated ride to the airport, free breakfast, then the shorter straight-line distance to GYE departures. Sonesta and DoubleTree both score 30; Sonesta ranks higher on distance, about 1.1 km from the terminal against 3.6 km.
What’s left out is deliberate. Room rates move by the day, so they aren’t scored, and review scores neither. Distances are straight lines between our own map pins, not routed walks or drives, and we say so wherever they appear.
Nobody publishes long-stay parking here, because the cruise starts on an island. One hotel prints a rate for leaving a car after check-out.
Why there’s no calculator. There’s no long-stay garage to price. Sheraton charges checked-out guests US$18.30 a night in its parking tower, and the airport charges US$1.40 an hour, per Expreso. Courtyard charges a fee if the car stays after check-out, without a price.
What to plan instead. The bags. The island flight allows one 23 kg checked bag and a 10 kg carry-on, per Celebrity and Metropolitan Touring, so sort out what stays behind before the night before.
Every hotel we read a hotel, brand or named listing page for made the list. Search limits stopped us checking more airport-area and Samborondón hotels this round, so the ten aren’t the whole city. One thing we left out on purpose: an old Ecoventura free-night offer at Oro Verde, which applied to bookings before December 30, 2019.
GYE is about 5 km from downtown, per an unofficial guide. Six of our ten publish a free airport shuttle, so book it with the room.
On a package? Check whether the Guayaquil night is already in it: Ecoventura sells one at Hotel del Parque. The Getting There table shows what each hotel publishes, and the airport page has the morning steps.
Tours, tickets and things to do are on Booking.com. Book the day before, not flight day.

On our scoring, Sheraton Guayaquil: a free airport shuttle, about 1.0 km to GYE by its own count, a pool and a whirlpool, and a printed rate for leaving a car.
On our pins, Holiday Inn Guayaquil Airport, about 350 m from the terminal in a straight line. The hotel says it’s next to the airport.
Of the hotel and brand sites we read, Oro Verde and Unipark say breakfast is free.
Ecoventura sells a pre-cruise package at Hotel del Parque, and Lindblad’s brochure names it for Galápagos Escape. Lindblad’s older sell sheet named Oro Verde.
Not necessarily. Six hotels, downtown included, publish a free airport shuttle. Close matters most for a very early flight.
Sheraton, Courtyard, Hilton Colón, DoubleTree and Holiday Inn Airport say so, each with its own limits and fees.
