Anthem of the Seas Cabins & Suites
Anthem does not need a radically different cabin catalog to create radically different values. The important differences are often smaller: screen versus glass, open horizon versus lifeboat, standard balcony versus more outdoor space, Sea versus Sky. Those are exactly the differences dynamic pricing can overcharge — or occasionally underprice.
Find the compromise first. Then find its price. A lifeboat in the view may be worth $400 in savings and ridiculous at $40. Extra balcony can be wonderful on the right itinerary and wasted money if you never sit outside.

I would not choose Anthem's cabin in isolation. Put these products side by side on the same sailing and make Royal show you what each compromise costs.
Interior with Virtual Balcony
2U is currently published at 166 sq. ft., up to four. Smart when the screen premium is small. Once the fare approaches real glass, stop being impressed by the television.
Ocean View Balcony
Use the straightforward balcony as your control price. Every obstructed or larger-balcony option has to beat this room at something that matters to you.
Obstructed Ocean View Balcony
The deck plan explicitly flags obstruction. This can be excellent value when Royal discounts it enough. The lifeboat does not become smaller because the discount does.
Studio categories
Anthem belongs to the Quantum generation of purpose-built solo inventory. But a studio is a layout, not a promise of a low solo fare. Price the alternatives.
Junior Suite
Sea Class. More space can solve a family problem, but it does not magically create another bathroom or the broader Sky experience.
Grand Suite
Royal currently publishes GS at 351 sq. ft. plus a 109-sq.-ft. balcony, up to four, with Sky amenities. This is the cleanest point where room and tier both move.
The cabin map that actually matters
Royal's active Anthem plans run through April 2, 2028. This is deliberately a buying map rather than a fake encyclopedia: hard numbers appear where Royal's current Anthem material supports them; exact category and cabin number remain the final check.

Because sister-ship numbers are not Anthem numbers. Where Royal's current Anthem page did not surface a dimension cleanly, this guide leaves it category-specific instead of borrowing Quantum's measurement.
A screen is useful. It is still a screen.
Royal currently publishes Anthem's 2U Interior with Virtual Balcony at 166 square feet and up to four guests. Royal's current FAQ defines the feature as an 80-inch HD screen with a real-time exterior view and says only select interiors have one.
What it fixes
The sealed-box feeling. You can see daylight, weather, port activity and whether the ocean looks angry before you leave the room.
What it does not fix
You cannot open it. You cannot step through it. You cannot smell the ocean. It is information and atmosphere, not outdoor space.
When I like it
When the premium over the cheapest Interior is small. It is one of the rare cabin upgrades where a modest price difference can noticeably change how the room feels.
When I stop liking it
When real glass gets close. Virtual Balcony is clever technology attached to an Interior. Ocean View is still an actual hole in the ship's wall with the world on the other side.
When the screen stops being enough
Royal currently publishes Anthem's regular Ocean View at 182 square feet, up to four. The accessible Spacious Ocean View is a separate 270-square-foot configuration; do not use that larger number to describe the standard room.
The Interior-to-Ocean-View jump is modest and Balcony has run away in price. You are buying real daylight without paying for outdoor space you may barely use.
Anthem makes you put a price on the horizon
Anthem's deck plan explicitly distinguishes obstructed views and balcony variants. That makes the view itself part of the fare. Two rooms can both say Balcony while one gives you horizon and the other gives you horizon with a lifeboat parked in the sentence.
Standard Ocean View Balcony
The control group. Price this first. Every large or obstructed version should be judged against what Royal wants for the straightforward room.
Large Balcony
Extra outside space is valuable only if you use it. A scenic itinerary, room-service breakfast or long sea days can make the balcony the best square footage on the ship.
Obstructed Balcony
The obstruction is real; so can the savings be. Treat this as buying private air at a discount rather than buying a discounted view.
Guarantee warning
If view quality is why you paid for Balcony, cabin selection has value. A guarantee can be rational when price matters more than precisely what sits outside the railing.
Put the actual dollar gap in the sentence: 'Would I pay $___ for an uninterrupted horizon on this itinerary?' That is more useful than asking whether obstructed balconies are good or bad.
Solo rooms solve occupancy. They still have to earn the fare.
Anthem belongs to the Quantum generation that introduced purpose-built solo choices, but this senior pass intentionally does not import Quantum's 101- or 119-square-foot studio measurements onto Anthem without a clean current Anthem listing.
Price the exact studio shown for your sailing, then price a regular Interior and Balcony for one. If the studio does not save enough money, being purpose-built for one is not automatically a benefit.
The room that sleeps everyone may not be the room everyone wants
Families tend to shop occupancy first because Royal forces them to. Comfort comes second. Put it back into the equation: beds solve nighttime; bathrooms, storage and privacy solve the rest of the day.
One larger cabin
Simpler reservation, everyone together, potentially better room and balcony. Good when the family actually likes sharing space.
Two cabins
Potentially two bathrooms, two televisions, two closets and more privacy. The older the children, the more those benefits tend to matter.
Connecting cabins
Often the best compromise when available: family proximity with the function of two rooms. Verify the connecting symbol on Anthem's exact deck plan.
Suite math
If the suite premium is mostly solving occupancy, compare it with two cabins. If the suite tier also changes dining, service or access, then compare the whole vacation.
A suite name tells you less than the tier
Royal currently includes Anthem in Royal Suite Class. Its tier list puts Junior Suite and Junior Suite with Large Balcony in Sea; Grand Suite and Grand Suite with Large Balcony in Sky; and Royal Loft, Owner's Loft and Grand Loft in Star. The exact suite name is part of the product.
SEA — Junior Suite
Treat Sea as a room upgrade first. If the physical cabin does not justify the premium, the lightest Royal Suite Class tier probably will not rescue the math.
SEA — J1 Large Balcony
Royal's current Anthem plan identifies J1 as Junior Suite with Large Balcony and Sea amenities. Buy this when the extra outdoor space is the feature you actually intend to use.
SKY — Grand Suite
Royal currently publishes the one-bedroom GS at 351 sq. ft. plus a 109-sq.-ft. balcony, up to four, with Sky amenities. Here the room gets larger and the onboard experience moves with it.
STAR — Loft territory
Royal's current tier list places Royal Loft, Owner's Loft and Grand Loft in Star. At this level, dollars per square foot misses much of what the fare is purchasing.

Read the symbols before you fall in love with the price
Royal's deck-plan symbols are part of the cabin description: obstruction, accessible configuration, connecting door and occupancy can matter more than the marketing name. Read the little symbols before the big headline.
Obstruction
Find the exact cabin number. The word 'obstructed' does not tell you how much of your sightline disappears.
Connecting door
Excellent when your family owns both sides. Less appealing if you are noise-sensitive and the other side belongs to strangers.
Accessible category
Treat it as its own configuration. Anthem's current plan, for example, publishes a 270-sq.-ft. Spacious Ocean View Accessible — not a standard-room dimension.
Residential sandwich
For light sleepers, cabins with passenger cabins above and below are the safest starting point. Then check nearby crew/service areas and public venues.
Turn the upgrade into a daily price
Anthem is almost made for upgrade math because so many choices trade one thing for another. Divide the fare difference by nights and travelers, then name the thing you are buying. If you cannot name it, do not pay for it.
