Antalya

Antalya is a docking port with a long ride attached. Ships tie up at Port Akdeniz, a working commercial harbor roughly 13 km (about 8 miles) from the old town of Kaleíci. Count on 25 to 35 minutes by taxi or coach each way. Nothing worth visiting is within walking distance of the gate, so sort out the transfer before you sail.

Antalya in brief

Antalya sits on Türkiye’s southern coast with the Taurus Mountains rising behind it, and the postcard views are of the old town.

The old town, Kaleíci, wraps around a Roman harbor beneath Hadrian’s Gate, and that’s the picture most people carry — it isn’t where the ship ties up.

Ships normally dock, so there is no tender.

Ships normally dock alongside at Port Akdeniz. CruiseMapper lists three berths of 200, 170 and 140 meters, with about 9 meters of water. Cruise Critic counts two cruise berths, so the number depends on who you ask.

The port is a commercial harbor first. Celebrity says there is little to do at the port itself — though it lists a tourist information booth and free Wi-Fi.

The ride is the whole problem.

Celebrity and Cruise Critic both put the port about nine miles west of the historic center. CruiseMapper gives 13 km to Kaleíci in one place and 15 km in another, and contradicts itself on the direction. Our map card uses 13 km, and so do we — as a working figure, not a measurement.

Walking to town is not practical, says CruiseMapper. A taxi rank waits at the port, and some lines run shuttles.

The calls we found are few. Our Antalya shore excursion guide covers Perge, Aspendos and the museum — read it before you decide how to spend the ride.

What's nearby, broadly

Kaleíci (Old Town) Hadrian’s Gate Antalya Museum Konyaaltı Beach Düden waterfalls Perge Aspendos Termessos Side Köprülü Canyon Phaselis Mount Tahtali cable car

Kaleíci, Hadrian’s Gate and the museum are the city half of the day — a taxi ride, then a stroll — with the ride doing most of the work.

Perge and Aspendos are ruins outside town. One listing puts Perge about 30 minutes from the port and Aspendos about 30 more beyond that. The tourism board also names Termessos, Side, Phaselis and Köprülü Canyon as sights. It gives no distances, and we won’t guess at them.

Antalya sits on Eastern Mediterranean and Turkish coast itineraries. The 2026-27 schedule we found is short: AIDA, Azamara and Emerald in October 2026, then Regent, Azamara, Aroya, Star Clippers, Oceania and AIDA again through 2027. Our Turkish Aegean stops, Kuşadası and Bodrum, sit up the coast, and Istanbul is the big embarkation city. See where it sits on our Mediterranean cruises hub, or open Antalya on the Seabound Cruise Atlas.

Practical notes

Current as of October 29, 2026 Review periodically

Call lengths vary, and the ride eats a chunk of each one.

CruiseMapper’s October 2026 schedule shows Azamara Quest at 08:00 to 17:00 and AIDAstella at 05:00 to 22:00. CruiseDig lists Oceania’s Nautica on June 12, 2027 from 07:00 to 17:00. Subtract the ride each way and a buffer before all-aboard, and plan what is left.

Taxi fares disagree, and no official rate is published.

CruiseMapper says about €25 one-way. Cruise Critic says a €15 flat rate for up to four people into the center. We found no tariff from the port authority, so ask the driver for the price before you get in — and agree it per car, not per head.

The Turkish lira is the local currency, but some sites quote euros.

Cruise Critic says some vendors take dollars, pounds or euros, at poor rates. Foreign-visitor ticket prices for Ministry sites are set in euros. Bring a card that works abroad, and use an ATM for lira.

The US advisory is Level 2 — increased caution.

The State Department’s Türkiye advisory, issued June 9, 2026, sits at Level 2, citing terrorism, armed conflict and arbitrary detentions. Its Level 4 warning covers the area within about 6 miles (10 km) of the Syrian and Iraqi borders. The advisory does not mention Antalya.

US passport holders need no visa for 90 days or less on a tourist passport. The passport must be valid six months beyond your arrival, with at least one blank page. Türkiye isn’t in the EU, so the EU’s border systems don’t apply.

Site hours and prices are the shaky part.

Sources disagree on Perge’s hours, and one reports the theater closed for restoration — so check the Ministry of Culture and Tourism listing before you pay for a tour built around it.

No official taxi fare is published, and we haven’t guessed at one.
