Fly into Seymour Airport on Baltra (GPS). LATAM sells flights from Guayaquil and Quito, Avianca lists the same routes, and Lindblad puts the Guayaquil flight at about an hour and a half.
Before you fly, get the US$20 Transit Control Card online or at the CGREG counter, and have it validated at the Guayaquil or Quito counter before check-in. On landing, pay the park fee: US$200 for foreign visitors over 12, US$100 under 12. Then your line’s guide takes over, per the national park.
Sleeping on Santa Cruz first? That’s a bus, a US$1 ferry and a bus or taxi into Puerto Ayora, about 1 to 1½ hours with the waits. One more thing: the islands run an hour behind mainland Ecuador.
Use the line’s transfer if
- You land on sail day, which is how these cruises are built
- You’re on Celebrity, Lindblad or Metropolitan Touring, which meet you at Baltra
Take the bus, ferry and taxi if
- You’re spending a night on Santa Cruz before or after
- Your hotel doesn’t send its own transfer

Lindblad sells its group flights as an extra. Silversea’s 2026 Silver Origin sailings we found are San Cristóbal round trips; see the San Cristóbal airport page. Smaller yachts weren’t verified this round.

What the ride to Puerto Ayora costs
Only if you’re going to a hotel; your line moves you to the ship. Each row is one leg, as the source prints it.
| Airport bus to the Itabaca Channel, about US$5 per person (Quasar, Galapatours); the park calls it free | — |
| Ferry across the Itabaca Channel, US$1 per person (national park) | — |
| Bus from the channel to Puerto Ayora, about US$2 per person (national park) | — |
| Pickup taxi from the channel to Puerto Ayora, US$25 for up to four (national park) | — |
One way, in US dollars, read October 18, 2026. The bus-and-ferry route adds up three rows; the taxi replaces the last bus. Quasar gives a private ferry at US$2 and the taxi at about US$20 to 25. Carry small bills.
Taxis on Santa Cruz are white double-cab pickups for up to four, per the park, and a ride within Puerto Ayora is US$1.50. Water taxis cross to Punta Estrada for Finch Bay and Angermeyer; no current fare is published.
Landing on sail day? Check your timing
Celebrity starts boarding at Baltra airport at 12:00 Galápagos time, an hour behind mainland Ecuador, so don’t read it off a Quito clock. It asks you to be there an hour early, so the default below uses that. The second row is our own margin, not a line’s rule.
- Celebrity's meeting timeCelebrity: boarding begins at the airport at 12:00 island time, and it asks you to arrive an hour early to collect bags and fill in health forms.—
- The day beforeOur advice, not a line's rule: if your mainland flight is tight, spend the night in Guayaquil or Quito, or on Santa Cruz.—
Your boarding documents set your time. The lines we checked meet the morning flight and take you straight to the ship. If you sleep on Santa Cruz instead, allow about 1 to 1½ hours back to the airport, and Celebrity says that ride is on you.
A night on Santa Cruz, either side of the cruise.
We ranked nine hotels, from highland lodges to the Puerto Ayora waterfront. Tell us the flight and the voyage, and we’ll pick the night that fits.
The morning you’re back
Celebrity’s cruises end with its transfer from the ship back to Baltra airport, and Metropolitan Touring’s Santa Cruz II does the same. Enter your flight and when you expect to be ashore.
There are no partner links inside this planner. It’s built only from what the national park, the lines and each hotel or its named listing publish.
The fees, the card and the bag check
Two payments, two places. The US$20 Transit Control Card comes from the Consejo de Gobierno de Galápagos (CGREG): online since May 2025, as a QR code, per Think Galápagos, or at its counter in the Guayaquil or Quito airport, preferably in cash, per Quasar. Either way, have it validated at that counter before you check in with the airline; keep it until you leave, and the maximum stay is two months. The park entrance fee is paid on arrival at Baltra: US$200 for foreign visitors over 12, US$100 under 12, nothing under 2, per the national park.
Then biosecurity. Your bags are checked in the ABG room on the mainland before check-in, an inspector checks hand luggage at Baltra for organic products, and the cabin is sprayed before landing, per the park. Leave fruit and seeds at home.
Mind the clock as well: the islands run an hour behind mainland Ecuador, and Celebrity gives its 12:00 boarding in Galápagos time.
Celebrity’s 7-night guests pay both fees and are reimbursed onboard; its longer packages handle them. For the boarding and the lines, see our Baltra cruise guide.
Flying in the day before
The Baltra cruises we checked are built for a sail-day landing: the morning flight, the guide at the airport, then the ship. The night before usually belongs on the mainland, in Guayaquil or Quito.
A night on Santa Cruz makes sense either side of the ship, as an add-on. The highland lodges sit closer to Baltra; Puerto Ayora has the restaurants.
