Cruises From Baltra (Santa Cruz)

You can’t drive to a Baltra cruise, and you may not need a taxi at all. You fly from Guayaquil or Quito, pay the park fee on landing, and your line’s guide meets you at the airport. The ship is at anchor; a bus and a tender do the rest.

Five ways into this guide

Go straight to the question you came with. Each card jumps to its answer.

01

In brief

Baltra is a small island off the north of Santa Cruz, and Seymour Airport sits on it. It’s where many Galápagos cruises begin, including the three lines below. You fly in from the mainland, a naturalist guide meets you at the airport, and the line takes you to the ship, per the national park.

Two things happen before that. Get the US$20 Transit Control Card online from the Consejo de Gobierno de Galápagos (CGREG) before you fly, or at its counter in the Guayaquil or Quito airport (cash is best, per Quasar), and have it validated at that counter before you check in; it’s been an online form with a QR code since May 2025, per Think Galápagos. Your bags also go through the biosecurity (ABG) check. On landing at Baltra, park rangers collect the entrance fee: US$200 for foreign visitors over 12 and US$100 under 12, in force since 1 August 2024, per the national park.

Ecuador uses the US dollar, so every price here is in dollars. Carry small bills; Quasar warns many ferry and taxi services don’t take cards. The islands run an hour behind mainland Ecuador, so check which clock your documents use.

The US State Department rates Ecuador Level 2, exercise increased caution (August 18, 2026), and the Galápagos isn’t in any of its restricted areas.

Cruise lines boarding at Baltra

Deployments change every season, so this roster is dated and sourced.

Current as of October 18, 2026

Checked against each line’s own pages on October 18, 2026. Celebrity starts boarding Celebrity Flora at Baltra airport at 12:00 Galápagos time (an hour behind the mainland), asks you to arrive an hour early, then buses you to a small pier and tenders you out; its 10-night-plus packages include the Quito–Baltra flights. Lindblad’s National Geographic Endeavour II flies from Guayaquil, about an hour and a half, then a short bus ride to the dock; its Galápagos Escape on National Geographic Islander II flies a group from Quito, sold as an extra. Metropolitan Touring’s Santa Cruz II meets the morning flight with a guided transfer. Silversea’s 2026 Silver Origin sailings we found start and end on San Cristóbal (see our San Cristóbal page); check whether yours touches Baltra. Smaller yachts and lines that start in Puerto Ayora weren’t verified this round.

03

Where you can go

Celebrity sells 7-night Inner and Outer Loops from Baltra, and Lindblad and Metropolitan Touring run their own routes. Not every voyage is a loop: Lindblad has one Endeavour II itinerary that starts on San Cristóbal and ends at Baltra. One voyage won’t call at every site, and the park sets each ship’s route.

04

The airport meeting, the dock and the tender

There’s no cruise terminal at Baltra. The boarding point is your line’s meeting at the airport: the national park says a naturalist guide waits there to take cruise passengers to the boat. Celebrity starts boarding at the airport at 12:00 island time, an hour behind the mainland, then buses guests to a small pier, and Lindblad describes a short bus ride to the dock.

From the dock it’s a tender. Celebrity says its ships don’t come pier-side, and Lindblad’s ship waits at anchor. No source prints the dock’s exact position, so our pin is an estimate.

05

Parking, in short

There’s nothing to park. A Baltra cruise starts with a flight from Guayaquil or Quito, and no cruise parking is published on Baltra or Santa Cruz.

Plan the bags instead. Celebrity’s package flights allow one 23 kg checked bag and one 10 kg carry-on, and the ferry carries luggage on its roof, per Quasar.
