Fly into BCN and take the €46 (about US$50) taxi — it's fixed, not metered. Our routing, from the airport’s reference point, gives about 10.0 road miles and 22 minutes to the Moll Adossat terminals and 8.8 miles and 17 minutes to WTC Barcelona, with no traffic.
The T-4 fare is the reason to take the taxi. It fixes the airport–Moll Adossat run at €46 in both directions, all surcharges included. The meter doesn’t matter. Neither do the bags. To the WTC terminal the normal meter runs.
The other figures differ. Creuers says about 15 km and Royal Caribbean about 10 miles and 40 minutes. Palacruceros says about 20 miles — the odd one out. Budget Royal Caribbean’s 40 minutes, not our free-flow number.
On a budget, the Aerobús or the metro gets you into town — the Cruise Bus does the last stretch for €3.50 (about US$4).
Take the taxi if
- You’re heading straight to a Moll Adossat terminal
- Two or more of you split the €46
- You have more than a carry-on each
Take the bus or metro if
- You’re travelling light and alone
- You’re staying in town the night before
- You don’t mind a change at Plaça Catalunya or Drassanes

The airport south-west, the ship on the breakwater
BCN sits on the coast south-west of the city. The cruise terminals sit in two places — the Moll Adossat, a quay running out along the harbour, and the World Trade Center on the Moll de Barcelona. Royal Caribbean’s directions take the Ronda Litoral and follow the signs for “PUERTO”.
BCN, and the two you might see on a cheap fare

What the ride to the ship costs
The taxi row is per car and fixed. The bus and metro rows are per person, our own sums of two published fares, and they end at a Moll Adossat terminal by the Cruise Bus.
| Taxi, AMB T-4 fixed fare to the Moll Adossat | — |
| Aerobús single (€7.75 (about US$9), secondary source) plus the Cruise Bus (€3.50), our sum | — |
| Metro Airport ticket (€5.90 (about US$7)) plus the Cruise Bus (€3.50), our sum | — |
One way, in euros, as each company printed it on October 3, 2026. The Aerobús’ own fare page showed no amounts to us, so its €7.75 comes from a secondary source. The AMB tariff also lists a €4.60 (about US$5) supplement for 5 to 8 passengers. Carnival’s transfer, from US$39.99 a person, is priced in dollars, so it isn’t in the table.
Princess has a uniformed representative meet its guests at the airport and doesn’t print a price; Royal Caribbean and NCL sell transfers at an extra fee, and NCL wants them booked at least four days before sailing. Virgin lists a private Mercedes E-Class from US$160 a car, or a van from US$195, for the ride from the ship to the airport.
Landing on sail day? Check your timing
Carnival’s cut-off is the only published one: land by 12:00 PM to use its transfer. The taxi row’s three hours is our margin; no line prints it. Put in your scheduled landing and the sailing time from your cruise documents.
- Carnival transfer, Carnival guestsFrom US$39.99 a person; your flight must land by 12:00 PM for the 10 AM to 1 PM service.—
- Taxi, Uber or the Aerobús, any lineNo cut-off of its own. Our rule of thumb, not a line’s: land at least 3 hours before the ship leaves — bags, the ride and check-in all take time.—
Creuers says your cruise line sets your check-in time and when you may enter the terminal. Private cars may drop you off, per the port — they can’t park in the cruise area.
Land the day before. Wake up near the ship.
We ranked eighteen hotels for a Barcelona cruise, three of them on the Port Vell waterfront. Send your sail date and flight, and we’ll match the hotel night to your landing.
The morning you’re back
Creuers keeps a taxi rank at every one of its terminals. The T-4 fare from the Moll Adossat back to the airport is €46. Holland America's rule for its own coach is a flight at least four hours after the ship arrives. Put in your flight and when you expect to be off, and this lays out the ride and the wait.
Partner links (transfers, rental cars, luggage storage) may earn Seabound Journeys a commission at no extra cost to you. They don't change the plan, which is built only from what each company publishes.
The buses, the trains and your suitcase
The Aerobús is the simple one — no changes until the city. The A1 serves T1 and the A2 serves T2, both around the clock, every day of the year; the A1 runs every 5 minutes from 07:15 to 22:30, per Aerobús.
The metro is L9 Sud from both terminals — a €5.90 Airport ticket, where a standard single is €2.90 (about US$3), per TMB. Bus 46 links both terminals with Plaça Espanya, and night buses N17 and N18 run to Plaça Catalunya, per Aena.
The train is Rodalies R2 Nord, every 30 minutes. It leaves from T2, not T1. A secondary source puts Sants at about 19 minutes and Passeig de Gràcia at 26 — €4.60 a ride.
For the last stretch, the Cruise Bus runs from a stop next to the WTC to terminals A to E: €3.50 one way, €5.00 (about US$6) for a day ticket. Palacruceros calls it the blue T3 bus between Columbus Square and the pier, running only when ships are in.
With bags and two or more of you, take the fixed €46 taxi. It's a flat fare, not a meter. Taxis in Barcelona are black and yellow. The AMB’s weekday daytime rate is €1.35 (about US$2) a km with a €2.80 (about US$3) flag fall, and the tariff lists €4.60 supplements for the airport and for the Moll Adossat cruise terminal — the T-4’s €46 already includes every surcharge.
Bounce lists luggage storage across Barcelona from €1.80 (about US$2) a bag a day, and the port lists Bags&Go on the Sant Bertran dock.
For the terminals and the lines, see our Barcelona cruise guide.
Flying in the day before
A hotel night turns a transatlantic landing into a walk on La Rambla — not a race to the ship. BCN is close. The night before can be anywhere in town, not only by the port.
No hotel we ranked publishes an airport shuttle. Grand Hotel Central and Miramar arrange private transfers on request — and the Hyatt Regency Tower, on the airport side, says it’s less than 10 minutes away.
Six for the night before
Our top six, with the drive from BCN to each, by our routing. All eighteen are on the hotels page.
Airport to hotel
What each of our eighteen says about getting from BCN to its door — mostly nothing. If the night before is the celebration, our nine splurge picks run from Passeig de Colom to Passeig de Gràcia.
Hotels with a ride from here
- None of the eighteen lists one from here.
Airport ride and a ride to the ship
- None of the eighteen does both from here.
All eighteen, with what each says about the airport, are in the ride table on the hotels page.
Barcelona cruise airport FAQ
What is the closest airport to the Barcelona cruise port?
Josep Tarradellas Barcelona–El Prat (BCN). Creuers puts it about 15 km from the terminals. Our routing, from the airport's reference point, gives about 10.0 road miles and 22 minutes to the Moll Adossat terminals and 8.8 miles and 17 minutes to WTC Barcelona, with no traffic. Royal Caribbean says about 10 miles and 40 minutes; Palacruceros' own page says about 20 miles, which doesn't square with anyone else's figure.
How much is a taxi from Barcelona airport to the cruise port?
€46, fixed, between the airport and the Moll Adossat cruise dock in either direction, all surcharges included — the AMB's T-4 tariff. The live meter runs to WTC Barcelona and to hotels, and any taxi from the airport has a €21.00 (about US$25) minimum.
Can I take the Aerobús to my cruise ship?
Partway, not door to door. The A1 from T1 and the A2 from T2 run 24 hours a day to Plaça Espanya and Plaça Catalunya; a secondary source puts the single at €7.75. From there it's metro L3 to Drassanes and the Cruise Bus from its stop next to the WTC to terminals A to E, €3.50 one way.
Does the metro run from Barcelona airport?
Yes, L9 Sud from both terminals, with an Airport ticket at €5.90, per TMB. The nearest stop to the port is Drassanes on L3; Palacruceros says the walk from there to Terminal D takes about 40 minutes, so finish on the Cruise Bus.
What is the Barcelona Cruise Bus?
A shuttle between a stop next to the WTC, near La Rambla, and terminals A, B, C, D and E on the Moll Adossat — per its operator. It's €3.50 one way or €5.00 for a day ticket, paid by card or online. The operator's list doesn't name the MSC terminal.
Does Carnival offer a transfer from Barcelona airport?
Yes, from US$39.99 a person — if your flight lands by 12:00 PM; the service runs 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, takes about an hour, must be bought up to two days ahead and isn't refundable.
What time should my flight home be after a Barcelona cruise?
Holland America sells its ship-to-airport transfer, from US$39 a person, only for flights at least four hours after the ship arrives. It sends 11:00 am to 1:00 pm flights on the 7:45 am coach, 1 to 3 pm flights at 8:15 and later flights at 9:00, about 30 minutes to T2.
Can I fly into Girona or Reus instead?
You can, but it's a drive — over an hour, not twenty minutes. Wikipedia puts Girona 74 km north of central Barcelona, mostly Ryanair; our routing gives about 61.8 road miles and 76 minutes to WTC Barcelona. Reus is about 63.4 road miles and 90 minutes by our routing. We didn't confirm the bus links from either.
Is there Uber at Barcelona airport?
Yes. Uber lists BCN pickups for UberX, Comfort, Van and a regulated 'Taxi XL Precio Cerrado' for more than four riders. The AMB also has a fixed T-3 fare booked through taxi apps.
Where can I leave luggage in Barcelona before boarding?
Bounce lists more than 314 spots in Barcelona — from €1.80 a bag a day. The port lists Bags&Go at the Trasmediterránea terminal on the Sant Bertran dock, without a price.
