Splurge Hotels · Barcelona

The Nicest Night Before the Ship

Barcelona’s top-rated rooms are up on Passeig de Gràcia, not at the port. Mandarin Oriental holds Two MICHELIN Keys and Forbes’ Five-Star, about 3.4 road miles from the Moll Adossat by our routing — Serras, with One Key, is the one on the waterfront. Each card says what the hotel adds and what it leaves you to arrange on sail morning.

What kind of splurge is it?

Nine places made this list. Three also make our eighteen: Serras, Miramar and W Barcelona. The other six get their own pages. Pick the kind of night below and the matching hotel lights up.

We print two ratings, each from the guide’s own pages: MICHELIN’s Keys, its hotel award, and Forbes Travel Guide’s stars. Spain’s own star categories are the hotels’ claims, and we label them that way. Unrated means unrated on the lists we read, not lesser.

Splurge the night, and plan the morning

None of the nine runs a shuttle to the ship, and none prints a distance to a cruise terminal. The numbers are ours, road routes with no traffic to the Moll Adossat: Serras about 2.1, Miramar about 2.3, Hotel Arts about 3.1, Mandarin Oriental about 3.4, W Barcelona about 3.6, Cotton House about 3.7, Majestic about 4.2, Casa Fuster about 4.5. El Palace we couldn’t place.

Breakfast isn’t stated as included at any of them. Ask when you book, not at the desk.

Parking is €60.50 a day at Hotel Arts and €30 at W Barcelona. Mandarin Oriental’s FAQ says self-parking is free for guests, Miramar lists parking without a price, and Casa Fuster calls its rate discounted. None says a car can stay while you cruise. WTC Barcelona’s car park publishes €90 (about US$100) for 7 days.

The seven terminals and the lines that use them are in our Barcelona cruise guide — check yours before you book the taxi.

Splurge hotels FAQ

What is the best-rated hotel in Barcelona for the night before a cruise?

On the two guides we checked, Mandarin Oriental: Two MICHELIN Keys and Forbes Five-Star, on Passeig de Gràcia, about 3.4 road miles from the Moll Adossat by our routing. Closer to the ship, Serras on Passeig de Colom holds One Key and is No. 3 in our eighteen.
