Fly into YUL and take a taxi. The Port says the airport’s C$49.45 daytime flat fare applies to the Grand Quay, and Holland America puts the ride at about 30 minutes, depending on traffic.
The 747 bus is the budget way at C$11.25 a person, but it doesn’t stop in Old Montréal, so plan a change to the métro or a cab. Whichever you pick, land the day before if you can.
Take a taxi if
- You have bags and a sail-day clock
- You’d rather not change to the métro or a cab downtown
- You land late: the fare is C$56.70 from 11 PM to 5 AM
Take the 747 if
- You’re travelling light
- You’re landing a day ahead
- You want the 24-hour transit pass it includes

The Grand Quay, in Old Montréal
Cruises sail from the Grand Quay of the Port of Montréal: Terminals 1 and 2 are at 200 rue de la Commune Ouest, across from the Pointe-à-Callière museum, and Terminal 3 is at the Berri entrance, further east, per the Port. The Port names Square-Victoria and Place-d’Armes as the métro stations for the terminals.

What the ride to the ship costs
Set how many of you are riding. The bus charges per person and the taxi by the car, so the cheaper answer changes with the size of your party.

One way, in Canadian dollars, before tip, as each source published it on September 26, 2026. The taxi row is the airport’s flat daytime fare, which the Port says applies to the Grand Quay; overnight it’s C$56.70. The bus row is the STM’s C$11.25 fare, a 24-hour pass that includes the métro; the Port’s page still says C$11. The 747 doesn’t stop in Old Montréal, so add the métro to Square-Victoria or Place-d’Armes, or a cab.
Other ways in: Holland America sells airport transfers through your booking without printing a Montréal price, Viking includes them when you buy its air, and Viator lists Montréal airport and hotel transfers from $35.
Landing on sail day? Check your timing
No line we read publishes a Montréal flight rule, so the yardstick here is our rule of thumb, labelled as ours. Oceania’s Vista voyage from Montréal on October 17 lists embarkation at 1 PM.
- Taxi, rideshare or a booked transfer, any lineNo cut-off of its own; Holland America puts YUL about 30 minutes from the port. Our rule of thumb, not a line’s: land at least 4 hours before the ship leaves.—
- The 747 bus and the métroThe bus runs every 10 to 20 minutes, per Tourisme Montréal, then a change to the métro or a cab. Our rule of thumb, not a line’s: land at least 5 hours before the ship leaves.—
Your cruise line’s check-in window, in your boarding documents, is the real deadline, and so is the terminal it names.

Can you get to the ship without a car?
Yes, with a change. The STM 747 runs from YUL’s door 28 to downtown 24 hours a day, generally every 10 to 20 minutes, and its C$11.25 fare is a 24-hour pass for the bus, métro, exo trains and the REM in Zone A. Pay in exact change, coins only, on the bus. It doesn’t stop in Old Montréal: Holland America says to take a taxi from downtown to the pier, and the Port names Square-Victoria and Place-d’Armes as the métro stations for the terminals.
The REM light rail doesn’t reach the airport yet. REM says the airport branch is scheduled for 2027, and Time Out reported on August 14, 2026 that testing had begun, with the stations due at the end of 2027. Until October 19, 2026, the seasonal 815 bus links YUL to the REM’s Des Sources station.
Bags: Holland America lists luggage storage at the terminal at C$7 or US$5 an item, while a 2022 Cruise Critic article says there isn’t any, so ask your line. Bounce lists storage at 138 rue McGill, by Old Montréal, from C$4.75 a day, and Central Station has a baggage checkroom, per VIA Rail.
Flying in the day before
The day-before flight is the one move that takes a delay off sail day. It costs a hotel night. It buys you the morning.
Two of our top twenty run a free airport shuttle, the Quality Hotel Dorval and the Holiday Inn & Suites, both by YUL, and the Airport Marriott is in the terminal. Eight are in Old Montréal with the Grand Quay, and Uville, first on our list, puts the Old Port promenade “a few steps behind us”.

Montréal cruise airport FAQ
What is the closest airport to the Montréal cruise terminal?
Montréal-Trudeau International (YUL), in Dorval. Holland America puts it 21 km (13 miles) and about 30 minutes from the port, depending on traffic, and Tourisme Montréal says it's 20 minutes west of downtown.
How do I get from YUL to the cruise terminal?
By taxi, most simply. YUL posts a flat taxi fare between the airport and downtown, C$49.45 from 5 AM to 11 PM and C$56.70 overnight, and the Port of Montréal says the daytime fare applies to the Grand Quay. Uber and Lyft pick up at YUL, and the STM 747 bus runs downtown around the clock for C$11.25. Holland America sells transfers without printing a Montréal price.
Can I take the bus or the train from YUL to the port?
Partly. The 747 bus doesn't stop in Old Montréal, and Holland America says you'll need a taxi from downtown to the pier. Its C$11.25 fare is a 24-hour pass that includes the métro, per the STM, and the Port names Square-Victoria and Place-d'Armes as the métro stations for the terminals. The REM light rail doesn't reach the airport yet: REM says the airport branch is scheduled for 2027.
Can I take the train from New York instead?
Yes. Amtrak's Adirondack runs daily from New York's Moynihan Train Hall to Montréal's Central Station, about 10 hours by Amtrak's count and about 11 by Tourisme Montréal's, crossing the border at Rouses Point, per Tourisme Montréal. Central Station is at 895 rue de la Gauchetière Ouest, under the Queen Elizabeth hotel, per VIA Rail.
How early should I land on sail day?
No line we read publishes a Montréal flight rule. Oceania's Vista voyage from Montréal on October 17 lists embarkation at 1 PM, and Holland America asks for flight details at least 14 days ahead if it's doing your transfer. The day before is the calm plan.
Is there a lounge at YUL for flights to the US?
Yes. YUL clears US-bound passengers before the flight, and in the US departures area LoungePair sells the Desjardins Odyssey Lounge at gate 76 for US$41 for 2 hours. Milesopedia lists no Priority Pass access for the US-bound lounges; Priority Pass lists four lounges elsewhere at YUL.
Can I store my bags on the last day?
Holland America lists luggage storage at the terminal at C$7 or US$5 an item; a 2022 Cruise Critic article says there isn't any, so ask your line. Bounce lists storage at 138 rue McGill, by Old Montréal, from C$4.75 a day, and Central Station has a baggage checkroom, per VIA Rail.
