The verdict

It's the Hampton across from the Convention Center, and it ranks first by 13 points. Hilton puts the terminals 0.40 miles away, breakfast is free, and extended cruise parking is $22 a night, printed right on the page.

That parking number is the whole story. The port's own garage charges $180 for a 7-night cruise; here it's about $154 before tax, and you walk to the ship.

There's no restaurant, and the page title mentions a port shuttle that the page never explains.

Book it, and ask the desk about that shuttle when you check in.

Book it if

  • Drivers who want the car handled and the ship a walk away
  • Anyone who wants breakfast in the price
  • Pet owners

Look elsewhere if

  • You want a restaurant and a bar in the building.
  • You want the shuttle confirmed before you book.

The port’s own garages

$120–$350 by cruise length

The port runs two garages and charges by cruise length, not by the day: $120 for a 4-night cruise, $135 for 5, $160 for 6, $180 for 7, $200 for 8 and $350 for 14. Carnival parks in the Erato Street garage, on top of its terminal; Norwegian and Royal Caribbean at 100 Poydras, with a shuttle to Julia Street, which publishes only the 4-, 5- and 7-night rates.

Both open at 9 AM and take cards only. Reserving adds $1 a day; driving up doesn’t. The port’s FAQ still quotes $25 a day, which matches only its 8- and 14-night rates. Compare every parking option.

FAQ

Hampton Inn Convention Center FAQ

Does Hampton Inn Convention Center have a cruise shuttle?

No, and you may not need one. Hilton puts the terminals 0.40 miles away, so you can roll the bags over. The page title says "Shuttle to Port New Orleans", but nothing on the page describes one, so we don't count it. Ask at the desk.

Does Hampton Inn Convention Center have an airport shuttle?

Not that it publishes. Hilton lists no airport shuttle. It puts MSY 16.1 miles away.

Can I park at Hampton Inn Convention Center while I cruise?

Yes. Extended cruise parking is $22 plus tax a night, per Hilton's own page. Valet for guests is $44.

How far is Hampton Inn Convention Center from the New Orleans cruise terminals?

Hilton puts the cruise ship terminals 0.40 miles away, across the street from the Convention Center. It sits in our Warehouse District & the riverfront band.

Can I check in early or check out late on cruise days?

Check-in is 3:00 PM and check-out 11:00 AM. The hotel doesn't publish early or late terms, so ask when you book, not on the day.

Will the hotel hold my bags?

The hotel doesn't say. Most hotels will hold bags between check-out and a late shuttle, but that's a call to make, not an assumption.

Does the port shuttle come back for me after the cruise?

You can walk to the terminals from here, and there's no hotel shuttle back. The city's flat taxi fare from downtown to MSY is $36 for one or two people.

What's the breakfast timing on sail morning?

Free hot breakfast buffet. Your terminal check-in window is in your cruise documents, and the port asks you not to arrive before it.

Can I park an oversized vehicle or charge an EV?

EV charging: not on site. Clearance and oversized parking aren't published. Both of the port's garages cap vehicles at 22 feet. Clearance is 6'6" at 100 Poydras and 7'6" on Erato Street's upper floors, with limited 8'4" space on its third; anything bigger goes through the port's parking contact.
