The short answer

Your flight lands at Palm Beach’s own airport, DJT — the same airport as PBI, renamed President Donald J. Trump International in July 2026. The port is about 20 minutes away by the Palm Beaches’ tourism listing, about 25 by Cruise Critic’s, and about 8.9 road miles by our routing.

Nobody prints a taxi fare, so the cab is a meter reading at the curb, not a number you can plan on. The one number that matters is 3:00 PM, when the terminal doors close. Land the day before if you can — and if you can’t, land by early afternoon.

Take a cab or rideshare if

  • You’re going straight to the ship with checked bags
  • You land with time to spare before 3:00 PM
  • You don’t want a car to park for the cruise

Book a transfer or rent a car if

  • You want a fixed price — Viator lists port transfers from US$38
  • You’re flying into FLL or MIA
  • You’ll pay the port’s $19 a day while you sail

The Map

One airport, south-southwest of the port

By the coordinates we map, the airport sits about 6.6 miles south-southwest of the terminal in a straight line. The terminal is at 1 East 11th Street in Riviera Beach, just off US-1 (Broadway), per Margaritaville at Sea’s directions — about 8.9 road miles from the airport by our routing.

The Ride

What the ride to the ship costs

Nobody prints a taxi fare from DJT to the port. The only priced rides are Viator’s private transfers. Both rows are the lowest “from” prices we saw on October 3, 2026, shown once for the group. Viator’s list doesn’t always say whether a price is per person or per car — check before you book.

Travelers
Lowest port transfer on Viator’s West Palm Beach list—
Private round trip, airport to port and back, on Viator—

US dollars, before tip. The first row is the “Prices from US$38” headline on Viator’s West Palm Beach port-transfers list; the second is a listed private round trip between the airport and the port from US$80. Prices on Viator change with your date and group.

Margaritaville at Sea’s pages don’t mention an airport transfer. The airport lists only hotel courtesy shuttles. La Quinta West Palm Beach Airport is the one hotel we found that runs to both the airport and the port, on weekdays, with no fare printed. And if you’re driving from Palm Beach to a Port Everglades ship instead, see the one-way rental from Palm Beach’s airport to Port Everglades.

Sail-Day Landing

Landing on sail day? Check your timing

Margaritaville at Sea is exact about the door: the port opens at 9:30 AM and the terminal doors close promptly at 3:00 PM. The margins below are ours, built from our no-traffic routing — the line doesn’t publish one.

  • Cab or rideshare from DJTThe doors close at 3:00 PM. Our margin is 90 minutes from touchdown — the curb, the bags and about 20 minutes of driving by our routing — so land by 1:30 PM.—
  • A car from Fort LauderdaleAbout 72 minutes of driving by our routing with no traffic, plus the rental counter or the curb. We allow 2 hours 30 minutes before the 3:00 PM door — land by 12:30 PM, our margin, not the line’s.—
  • A car from MiamiAbout 108 minutes of driving by our routing with no traffic. We allow 3 hours before the 3:00 PM door — land by noon, our margin.—

Passengers who arrive after the doors close are treated as no-shows, per Margaritaville at Sea. The sailing time doesn’t move that.

Coming Home

The morning you’re back

Neither the port nor Margaritaville at Sea publishes a debarkation time or an earliest-flight rule for Palm Beach, so leave a wide gap. Put in your flight and when you expect to be off the ship, and this lays out the ride and the wait.

Partner links (transfers, rental cars, luggage storage, lounges) may earn Seabound Journeys a commission at no extra cost to you. They don't change the plan, which is built only from what each company publishes.

Transit and Bags

Palm Tran, Tri-Rail, Brightline and your suitcase

The bus is cheap and close. A Palm Tran stop sits on the outer curb of Level 1 — $2 a ride, or $5 for a day pass, per Palm Tran. Route 2 links the airport with the West Palm Beach Tri-Rail station at 203 South Tamarind Avenue, free for riders holding a valid Tri-Rail fare. What no official page gives is a stop at the cruise terminal — so with bags, it isn’t a plan.

Amtrak’s West Palm Beach station is at 201 South Tamarind Avenue, and the airport says a Palm Tran shuttle runs between it and DJT. Tri-Rail runs south from West Palm Beach to Miami, not to the port.

Brightline lists “Brightline West Palm Beach Station ↔ Port of Palm Beach” among its cruise connections, from its station at 260 Quadrille Plaza Drive, and asks you to arrive 30 minutes before the train to check bags. Its page doesn’t say how you get from the station to the port, or what that costs.

Bags: we found no luggage storage at the port. Bounce lists a spot at 823 Southern Boulevard in West Palm Beach from $3.95 a day. Margaritaville at Sea includes two pieces of standard luggage up to 50 lb each. For the ship, the terminal and where Paradise goes, see our Palm Beach cruise guide.

Fly In Early

Flying in the day before

A hotel night buys back the whole of sail morning — a late flight becomes a late dinner, not a missed door. In Palm Beach it’s cheap insurance: the terminal closes at 3:00 PM whatever time the ship sails.

Four of our top twenty run a free airport shuttle: Embassy Suites Central from 4 AM to 1 AM, and the Hampton Inn Central Airport, Home2 Suites and the West Palm Beach Marriott without printed hours. La Quinta West Palm Beach Airport runs one to the airport and the port, on weekdays from 10:30 to 5:30, fare not printed.

FAQ

Palm Beach cruise airport FAQ

What is the closest airport to the Port of Palm Beach?

Palm Beach's own airport, now President Donald J. Trump International (DJT) — it was Palm Beach International (PBI) until the name changed on July 9, 2026 and the code on August 18, 2026. The Palm Beaches' tourism listing puts the port 20 minutes away, and Cruise Critic says about 25. Our routing makes it about 8.9 road miles and 20 minutes with no traffic.

Is DJT the same airport as PBI?

Yes. Same airport, new name and code: President Donald J. Trump International since July 9, 2026, and DJT on tickets from August 18, 2026. The airport says airline schedules and services are unaffected, and AviationPros reported that parking, TSA screening and baggage claim don't change. Some hotel pages still say PBI.

How much is a taxi from DJT to the cruise port?

Nobody prints it. Cabs wait at the Ground Transportation desk at the west end of Level 1, and Metro Taxi takes bookings on 561-777-7777. The airport lists no fare to the port. Palm Beach County's Consumer Affairs office regulates cabs — but it doesn't publish a meter rate.

Where do Uber and Lyft pick up at DJT?

On the outer curb of Level 3, per the airport. At the port, Margaritaville at Sea asks you to use 1 East 11th Street, Riviera Beach, for GPS and rideshare.

Is there a bus or train from the airport to the cruise terminal?

Not one we'd plan a cruise around. Palm Tran stops on the outer curb of Level 1 for $2 a ride, and Route 2 runs to the Tri-Rail and Amtrak station on South Tamarind Avenue. No official page names a stop at the terminal. Brightline lists its West Palm Beach station and the Port of Palm Beach as a cruise connection without saying how you get between them.

Does Margaritaville at Sea run airport transfers?

Not that its pages say — the arrival, directions and FAQ pages don't mention the airport. Viator's West Palm Beach port-transfers list starts at US$38, and a private airport-to-port round trip was listed from US$80 on October 3, 2026.

Can I fly into Fort Lauderdale or Miami instead?

You can, but it's the long way. No official page gives the drive. Ours is about 56 road miles and 72 minutes from FLL with no traffic, and about 81 miles and 108 minutes from MIA. With a 3:00 PM door, land the day before.

What time do I need to be at the Port of Palm Beach?

The port opens at 9:30 AM on sailing days and the terminal doors close promptly at 3:00 PM, per Margaritaville at Sea — passengers who miss it are treated as no-shows. Work back from 3:00, not from the sailing time.

Is there an airport lounge at DJT?

LoungePair sells the Escape Lounge, past security by the A and B concourses, at $46 for 3 hours, open 5 AM to 7 PM. It still files the airport under PBI.

Can I store my bags before or after the cruise?

We found no luggage storage at the port. Bounce lists a West Palm Beach spot at 823 Southern Boulevard from $3.95 a day, open 9:30 AM to 8 PM Monday to Saturday and 10 AM to 6 PM on Sunday. That's south of downtown West Palm Beach, not by the port.
