The verdict

No hotel in our twenty is closer to the port than The Singer. It's on the ocean at 3700 North Ocean Drive on Singer Island, about 2.8 road miles from the terminal by our routing — the shortest drive in our twenty. There's an outdoor pool and an on-site restaurant.

It used to be the Hilton Singer Island Oceanfront/Palm Beaches Resort; same address, new Curio name.

It adds up, though. Self-parking is $35 a day, breakfast costs extra, and Hilton lists a daily resort charge for beach chairs, an umbrella and an hour on the water — without printing the amount.

Ask the resort charge before you book, and take the 8-minute cab to the ship rather than paying $35 a night to leave the car.

Book it if

  • A beach evening before a short cruise
  • Dog owners — up to 50 lb
  • You want to be closest to the ship

Look elsewhere if

  • You want breakfast in the rate.
  • You want a parking bill under $35 a night.
  • You need an airport shuttle.
