Bologna is the one to fly into. Our routing, from the airport to a street point on the terminal’s bank at Porto Corsini, gives about 57.5 road miles and 71 minutes with no traffic. Venice Marco Polo is about 88.3 miles and 2 hours 32 minutes.
The lines round differently — Royal Caribbean says about 1 hour 30 minutes from Bologna, and 2 hours 30 minutes by car or 3 by bus from Marco Polo; Celebrity puts the port an hour from the city of Bologna. Budget the longer numbers.
Nothing public runs from either airport to the ship — from Bologna it’s a €30 (about US$35) shuttle or a train to Ravenna, then Visit Ravenna’s transfer, from €20 (about US$20), or bus 90.
Take the shuttle or the train if
- You land at Bologna the day before
- You’re one or two people, travelling light
- You’re spending a night in Ravenna’s old town
Book a transfer or a car if
- You land the morning you sail
- You’re flying into Marco Polo
- Your line sells one for your flight

Two airports, and the ship on the coast
Bologna airport sits on the city’s north-west edge, inland. Marco Polo is up the coast past the Po delta, on the Venetian lagoon. The terminal is at Porto Corsini, on the north bank of the canal that runs out from Ravenna to the sea.

One way, in euros, as each operator printed it on October 3, 2026. Visit Ravenna’s €20 is a “from” price for one seat and one bag from Ravenna; its shared run from Marina Romea starts at €10 (about US$11). Norwegian’s US$199 tour-and-transfer is priced in dollars, so it isn’t in the table.
Viator lists 28 Ravenna port transfers. When we looked on October 3, 2026, the port to Bologna airport started at US$153 and the port to Ravenna hotels at US$83 — check whether a price is per person or per car.
Landing on sail day? Check your timing
No line publishes a landing cut-off for Ravenna that we found. The rows below are our own margin and the shuttle’s timetable — not a line’s rule. Enter your landing and the departure time printed in your cruise documents.
- Shuttle or train, any lineNo line prints a cut-off for Ravenna. Our own margin: be on the ground 4 hours or more before sailing.—
- VisitRavenna shuttleIt leaves the airport at 1:30 am, 2 pm and 8 pm, per the tourism board; land well before one of them.—
- Any ride from Marco PoloRoyal Caribbean says 2.5 to 3 hours to the port, so our margin from Venice is 5 hours or more on the ground before sailing.—
We found no published check-in window for the terminal — the time in your boarding pass is the one to plan around.

The trains, the buses and the ferry
The Marconi Express links Bologna airport and Bologna Centrale in 7 minutes, every 7 to 15 minutes from 5:40 am to midnight, €12.80 single or €23.30 (about US$25) return; a night bus covers the rest. Direct regional trains run Bologna to Ravenna in about an hour — a timetable site shows one at 16:50, arriving 17:52 by way of Lugo, on weekdays.
Intercity buses, FlixBus among them, use Piazzale Aldo Moro behind Ravenna station, per the tourism board. Start Romagna’s bus 90 runs out to Porto Corsini and stops about 500 m from the terminal; a one-zone ticket is €2 (about US$2), or €3 (about US$3) bought on board.
Visit Ravenna’s shared transfer picks up in town from 9:30 am, from €20 a person with one bag, about 30 minutes, and the van can arrive up to 10 minutes late, per Visit Ravenna. The tourism board gives Piazza Anita Garibaldi, about 300 m from the station, as a pick-up, and lists the station run for April 1 to November 1, 2026 — outside that, it’s bus 90 or a taxi.
Coming from Marina di Ravenna, on the far bank, the Start Romagna car ferry crosses to Porto Corsini continuously: €3 a car, €1 (about US$1) on foot, 5 am to 12:30 am in the winter timetable.
For the terminal and the lines, see our Ravenna cruise guide.
Flying in the day before
Land a day early and the 57 miles stop being a race. After a transatlantic flight that matters — VisitRavenna’s shuttle leaves the airport three times a day and Shuttle Italy’s four, so most morning landings make the 2 pm or the 2:30 pm.
None of our twelve runs a free airport shuttle on a normal night. Hotel Ulisse’s listing offers an airport car at €220 (about US$245) a vehicle one way, up to four people, and Mitico by Bologna airport runs one free only during events and congresses.
The old-town hotels are a short walk or taxi from Ravenna station, where the shuttle stops.

Ravenna cruise airport FAQ
What is the closest airport to the Ravenna cruise port?
Bologna (BLQ), for flights from abroad. Our routing gives about 57.5 road miles (92.6 km) from the airport to the Porto Corsini terminal, roughly 71 minutes with no traffic — Royal Caribbean says about 1 hour 30 minutes. Venice Marco Polo is about 88.3 road miles (142 km), roughly 2 hours 32 minutes. Ravenna's tourism board also lists Forlì, Rimini and Ancona.
How do I get from Bologna airport to the Ravenna cruise terminal?
In two legs — VisitRavenna's shuttle runs from the airport to Ravenna station for €30, or Shuttle Italy to Piazza Aldo Moro, behind the station, for €27 a leg. From there, Visit Ravenna's seasonal transfer to the terminal is from €20 a person, about 30 minutes, or bus 90 stops about 500 m from the terminal. Nothing public runs straight from the airport to the ship.
Is there a train from Bologna airport to Ravenna?
Not directly — the Marconi Express runs from the airport to Bologna Centrale in 7 minutes for €12.80, every 7 to 15 minutes from 5:40 am to midnight. Direct regional trains from Centrale reach Ravenna in about an hour; we didn't find Trenitalia's own fare, and an aggregator lists tickets from €9 (about US$10).
How do I get from Venice Marco Polo to the Ravenna cruise port?
It's the long way — Royal Caribbean puts it at 2 hours 30 minutes by car and 3 hours by bus; our routing gives about 88.3 road miles. Princess sells transfers from Marco Polo for its guests, without a price on its page. Private cars listed on Viator started from US$344 when we looked, and it isn't clear whether that's per car or per person.
How much is a taxi from Bologna airport to Ravenna?
No fare is published — the airport names its taxi companies, Cotabo and CAT, without fares, and Radiotaxi Ravenna, which runs 24 hours, prints no tariff either. Ask for a quote before you get in.
Does Royal Caribbean offer transfers at Ravenna?
Royal Caribbean says every port has airport transfers for an extra fee, booked through Air2Sea, and prints no Ravenna price on the pages we read. Cruise Critic posters in 2023 reported a shuttle to Ravenna station at about $10 and a coach to Venice at about $65; that's their report, not the line's fare.
Can I go straight from the ship to Bologna airport?
Norwegian sells "Ravenna & Its Mosaics With Transfers To Bologna Airport" at US$199 an adult and US$179 a child, about 4 hours 45 minutes — and warns that flight times may overlap the tour. Otherwise it's the transfer to Ravenna station and VisitRavenna's airport shuttle, which leaves the station at 3 am, noon and 6 pm.
Is Forlì airport an option for a Ravenna cruise?
Only if your flight goes there — Ryanair flies to Cagliari and Palermo and, seasonally, London Stansted, per Wikipedia. VisitRavenna runs a shuttle between Forlì airport and Ravenna station on Wednesdays and Saturdays only, €20, about an hour.
Can I store luggage at the Ravenna cruise terminal?
We found no left-luggage service at the terminal. The tourism board lists luggage storage at Ravenna station, without a price, so it's the place to leave bags on a day in town before the transfer.
Want the flights and transfers handled?
Tell us where you fly from and when you sail. We'll line up Bologna or Venice, the night in Ravenna and the transfer to Porto Corsini. No obligation.
