Hotel Columbia
The only seaside hotel in our twelve with its own page for cruise passengers, a pick-up on Visit Ravenna's Marina Romea run, about 1.7 road miles from the terminal, with breakfast from 6:30.
Pre-Cruise Hotels · Ravenna
Twelve hotels for a Ravenna cruise, from Marina Romea beside the terminal to the old town and Bologna, scored on what gets you to the ship, not on reviews. Twelve is all that qualified — we say why below.
Three taps and we’ll show your best three hotels.
Change any answer and the picks change with it. They’re built from the same published facts as the ranking below. Nobody pays to be here.
Matching weighs your answers against each hotel’s published shuttle, parking, breakfast, pool, beach, kitchen and pet policies.
Five answers, and the page builds the whole thing: the hotel, the ride in, the ride to the ship, what happens to the car, what time to leave, and how you get home. Every figure is one the hotel, the port or the company publishes. Where nobody publishes a number, you’ll see that instead of a guess.
Who’s coming and the mood come from Your Match; the plan uses the same answers.
Partner links (transfers, rental cars) may earn Seabound Journeys a commission at no extra cost to you. They don't change the plan, which is built only from what each company publishes.
The top two sit in Marina Romea, the village on the terminal’s own bank, about 1.7 road miles out by our routing, and both list free breakfast and parking. The Columbia edges ahead because its own site has a page for cruise passengers. Hotel Diana, in the old town, is third for the same reason — both pages point you to Visit Ravenna’s transfer.
Narrow the twelve by what your night needs. Save the ones you like, or tick up to three to compare side by side — the order is ours, the shortlist is yours.
Why twelve, not twenty? We checked 17 hotels from Marina Romea to Bologna, and twelve were open and published enough to score. Every hotel we left out is in the not-ranked list with its reason.
A word on sources. Five old-town hotels are read from their own websites, NH and Starhotels from their brands, and Mitico from Bologna Welcome, the city’s tourism board. The four seaside hotels have no site we could find, so their facts come from Expedia listings. A listing is the booking site’s summary, not the hotel’s promise — every page says which is which.
Add your sail date and the links open on the night before.

Pick how you’re arriving. The board counts what each hotel publishes, the table lights up that column, and the companies below run from the airport to the port.
Bologna · about 57.5 road miles to the terminal, our routing; a €30 (about US$35) shuttle runs to Ravenna station
Daily, about an hour and a half. It leaves the airport at 1:30 am, 2 pm and 8 pm and Ravenna station at 3 am, noon and 6 pm, per the tourism board. It stops at the station, not the terminal.
Daily between Bologna airport and Piazza Aldo Moro, behind Ravenna station, about an hour and a half, leaving the airport at 4:30 am, 9:30 am, 2:30 pm and 6:30 pm; book online up to 24 hours ahead, per the tourism board.
The Marconi Express runs from the airport to Bologna Centrale in 7 minutes, every 7 to 15 minutes, 5:40 am to midnight. Direct regional trains reach Ravenna in about an hour; we didn't find Trenitalia's own fare.
Royal Caribbean sells airport transfers at every port through Air2Sea, without a Ravenna price on the pages we read; Princess says it runs transfers from Marco Polo, unpriced.
Our routing gives about 57.5 road miles (92.6 km), roughly 71 minutes, from Bologna airport to the terminal, and about 88.3 miles (142 km), 2 hours 32 minutes, from Marco Polo. Royal Caribbean says there's no long-term parking at the port.
Driving? The column to watch is “While you sail”. Compare hotel parking with the options on Ravenna cruise parking, or price it out in the parking math below.

The twelve are ranked on how easy they make sail morning at Porto Corsini, not on the room. Ravenna has no MICHELIN Key hotel, so the splurges reach out: Bologna's Grand Hotel Majestic holds One Key, about 55 road miles from the ship, and Palazzo Bezzi is the nice night in Ravenna itself.
Every distance here ends at a street point on Via Molo Gaetano Sanfilippo, on the Porto Corsini bank where Royal Caribbean’s directions finish. No source publishes the terminal’s own coordinates, so treat it as close, not exact. They’re road miles by our routing, with no traffic: Marina Romea 1.7 road miles, the old town 8.1 to 8.6 road miles, Bologna 53.6 to 54.6 road miles.
Two of the twelve are in Marina Romea, two across the canal in Marina di Ravenna and Punta Marina, six in the old town and two in Bologna. The canal matters. Across it, our routing takes the car ferry from Marina di Ravenna to Porto Corsini, €3 a car per Start Romagna — the only reason those two look close.
Numbers are the ranking. Each pin sits where the hotel is — the bands group them by distance, the way we score it.
Five things make a Ravenna night before easy or hard. We score each one only from what the hotel publishes, on its own site, its brand’s, the tourism board’s listing or its Expedia listing, and we say which.
If nobody prints it, it scores zero. Visit Ravenna names three hotels, NH, Bisanzio and the Cappello, as pick-up points for its transfer — that’s the operator’s word, not the hotels’, so it’s on their pages as information, not points.
By band, from the terminal: Marina Romea 30; across the canal by ferry 25; Ravenna centre 20; Bologna 10, because at about 54 road miles it’s a fly-in night, not a pre-cruise one.
Hotel-run shuttle with a published price 25, a ride only inside a package 20, the hotel’s own ride with no fare 15, a walk the hotel prints 15, a partner the hotel names 10. No hotel runs its own ride; only Hotel Diana, whose cruise page sends you to Visit Ravenna, scores here.
A published rate to leave the car 20; offered without a price 14. None of the twelve does either.
Ten points when the hotel, or its listing, says breakfast comes with the room. Eight of the twelve say so.
On the beach 6, pool 3, food or a bar on site 3, a kitchen 3. No hotel lists its own beach — so nobody gets the six.
Ties are broken in order: the lower published parking rate, any stated way to the ship, free breakfast, parking on site, the shorter distance to the terminal by our routing, the lower guest parking price, then the alphabet. Three ties, each split on our routing to the terminal. On 38, the Riviera’s route is shorter than Terme Beach’s. On 30, the Centrale Byron’s is about 40 metres shorter than the Bisanzio’s, close enough to call a dead heat. On 23, NH Ravenna’s beats Palazzo Bezzi’s.
Two things don’t score, on purpose — room rates, which jump on sailing days, and guest review scores.
Two things to check yourself. The seaside hotels in Marina Romea and across the canal don’t print a season on their listings, so confirm they’re open on your date. And the tourist tax is paid at the hotel, outside most online prices.
None of the twelve prints a price to leave the car while you sail, and the port has no long-term parking, per Royal Caribbean. The city’s own car park is the published option.
At the hotels. Only nightly parking is printed — Garage La Torre next to Hotel Diana at €10 a night or €12 (about US$13) a day, depending on which of its pages you read, €15 (about US$17) a night off site for the Cappello, per Expedia, and free on site at the four seaside hotels, per their listings. None says the car can stay a week.
At the port. “No long-term parking available at the Port”, per Royal Caribbean. An older third-party guide described free, unsecured parking by the old check-in tent; that predates the new terminal plans, and we go with the line.
In town. The city’s Via Cura car park, automated, camera-watched and cashless, is €1 (about US$1) an hour or €4 (about US$4) a day from October 1, 2026, with a €35 (about US$40) monthly pass, per the city. The tourism board lists it as a pick-up for the terminal transfer, a run listed for May 1 to October 31, 2026 — but doesn’t say a car can stay a whole cruise, so ask the city first.
| Via Cura city car park, €4 a day from October 1, 2026, per the city | — |
Our arithmetic on the city’s rate: your cruise nights plus one day at €4 a day. It assumes a car may stay that long — which the city doesn’t say. Add Visit Ravenna’s transfer each way, from €20 a person.
Every option side by side: Ravenna cruise parking, compared.
We checked 17 hotels; twelve made the list. Ravenna has no MICHELIN Key hotel, so our splurge list reaches Bologna’s Grand Hotel Majestic, which has one, plus Palazzo Bezzi from this list.
| Hotel | Why it isn’t ranked |
|---|---|
| Park Hotel Ravenna, Marina di Ravenna | Its own site returned an error three times, and the only page we read is an old hotel directory, so we couldn't confirm it's open. |
| Alba Hotel, Marina di Ravenna | Known to us from a hotel directory and a Booking.com title only; no site of its own found and nothing to score. |
| Albergo Bermuda, Marina di Ravenna | A directory entry only. We couldn't confirm it's open. |
| Hotel Ravenna, by the station | Only a Kayak listing; no site of its own found, and breakfast is known only from guest reviews. |
| Grand Hotel Mattei, Ravenna | Only an Expedia listing, read without a site of its own or a phone number; too thin to stand behind in a ranking. |
Bologna is the nearer airport, about 57.5 road miles (92.6 km) from the terminal by our routing, roughly 71 minutes with no traffic — Royal Caribbean says about 1.5 hours. Venice Marco Polo is about 88.3 road miles (142 km) and 2 hours 32 minutes; Royal Caribbean says 2 hours 30 minutes by car and 3 by bus.
No airport bus goes to the terminal. VisitRavenna’s shuttle from Bologna airport to Ravenna station is €30, Shuttle Italy’s to Piazza Aldo Moro €27 a leg, and the Marconi Express to Bologna Centrale €12.80, then a train of about an hour. Each hotel’s airport options are in the Getting There table, and the shuttle timetables are on the airport page.
Tours, tickets and things to do are on Booking.com. Book the day before, not sail day.

On our scoring it's Hotel Columbia in Marina Romea, about 1.7 road miles from the terminal by our routing, with breakfast from 6:30 and its own page for cruise passengers that points you to Visit Ravenna's run. Hotel Ulisse, on the same street and the nearest bed, is second; its facts come only from Expedia. Hotel Diana in the old town is third — its own cruise page sends you to Visit Ravenna's transfer too.
Because twelve open hotels publish enough to score. We checked 17; five more were known to us only from a directory, a single listing or a site that wouldn't load — and we couldn't confirm they're open. We'd rather list twelve we can stand behind than pad to twenty.
Ships sail from the cruise terminal at Porto Corsini, on the north bank of the Canale Candiano; Celebrity gives the address as 48123 Porto Corsini. A new terminal backed by Royal Caribbean Group was due for the 2026 season, but in May 2026 its operator's director called a 2026 opening improbable, and check-in runs from a temporary tent beside the site. We found nothing saying it has opened, so go by your cruise documents.
Further than Princess says — its page puts the Porto Corsini terminal four kilometres from the centre; our routing gives about 8.1 road miles (13.1 km), roughly 18 minutes, from the station, and Italian Wikipedia says 13 km. Plan on the longer figure.
Not at a published price — none of the twelve prints one. Royal Caribbean says there's no long-term parking at the port. The city's Via Cura car park in the centre is €4 a day from October 1, 2026, per the city, and the tourism board lists it as a transfer pick-up until October 31, 2026, but nothing we read says a car can stay a whole cruise.
Marina Romea for the shortest morning — about 1.7 road miles from the ship. The old town for dinner among the mosaics and Visit Ravenna's transfer from €20. Bologna only if you land late there: it's about 54 road miles out, an hour by train.
None of our twelve runs a free one on a normal night. Mitico, by Bologna airport, runs a free shuttle only during events and congresses, per Bologna Welcome. Hotel Ulisse's listing offers an airport car at €220 a vehicle one way. From Bologna, VisitRavenna's shuttle to Ravenna station is €30 and Shuttle Italy's €27 a leg.
€2 (about US$2) a person a night at a 3-star hotel, €3 at a 4-star and €4 at a 5-star, per the city's table in force since January 2023; Ravenna Entrate's notice caps it at five nights in a row and exempts under-14s. In Bologna, 2026 rates run €4.00 (about US$4), €5.80 (about US$7), €6.50 (about US$7) or €7.00 (about US$8) a person a night by room price, per Bologna Welcome.
Much of the centre is a limited-traffic zone watched by cameras, the city's "Sirio" system. If your hotel is inside it, the hotel can send your plate to the city — so tell them when you book.
Rates move daily and climb on sailing days — only the Centrale Byron prints a 2026 rate card, and it's on that hotel's page. We score what a hotel can't reprice overnight: the distance, the ride, parking, breakfast and the evening.
