There are two kinds of vacation budget in this world. The standard kind, and the Disney Cruise kind.
Standard budgeting means comparing square footage, weighing dining packages and hunting for early-booking value. Disney Cruise budgeting is a magical phenomenon in which otherwise financially responsible adults convince themselves that paying a serious premium to sleep inside a decorative funnel, while a Nordic ice harvester drops by their table between courses, is just good common sense.
Disney pulled back the curtain on Disney Believe on October 7. She won’t sail out of Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale until December 18, 2027, but general bookings open October 19, 2026 — and Castaway Club members started booking today, Pearl first, with Platinum, Gold and Silver following through the week.
That leaves you one week. Use it to step away from the pixie dust, build a strategy, and decide whether you’re booking a vacation or just competitively throwing your credit card at the internet.
I run every cruise through the same filter — passenger flow, cabin real estate, financial sanity. Here’s what Disney just revealed, and how to keep your wallet intact when the floodgates open.

Start with the headliners. The newest ship in the lineup is bringing some heavy intellectual property to dinner.
Joining the returning favorites 1923 and Worlds of Marvel is an all-new rotational dinner show, Oaken’s Table: A Frozen Family Feast. Expect reimagined Frozen songs between courses, with Anna and Kristoff making the rounds. Is it a calculated ploy to make five-year-olds refuse to leave their chairs? Yes. It still beats arguing with a toddler at the buffet.
Over in the Walt Disney Theatre, Believe debuts the world’s first stage adaptation of Encanto — not the first at sea, the first anywhere. Disney usually saves that kind of premiere for Broadway or the West End. This time the opening-night ticket comes bundled with your cabin.
Tangled: The Musical moves over from the Disney Magic with new sets and effects. Gazelle, a Zootopia entertainment hub, gives Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde their first Disney Cruise Line show — and, per Good Morning America, turns adults-only after dark.
For adults looking to escape the sing-alongs, Disney is expanding its themed watering holes. Wishing Well is a Snow White lounge with dark gothic arches and apple motifs. Sea Notes is a Little Mermaid piano bar built around a pearlescent grand piano — because Disney knows a parent needs a martini after three straight hours of character greetings.
A noisy slice of longtime Disney cruise fans greeted the reveal with a collective shrug online. Fair enough. This ship wasn’t built for them. Believe is aimed squarely at families with kids young enough to gasp when Anna walks past the bread basket — and judged on that, the lineup is strong.
One honest caveat. These are announced experiences, not firsthand reviews. Disney has previewed some food and drinks, but full restaurant menus and pricing haven’t been published, so I’m not going to invent them.
The Big Family Math: Connecting Rooms vs. the Fantasy Suite
Now the real estate. Disney says roughly 70 percent of Believe’s staterooms carry a verandah, and the ship has more than 450 connecting doors.
At the top sits the Believe Tower Suite — a two-story penthouse tucked inside the forward funnel, close to 2,000 square feet, sleeping eight, themed to the lands of Magic Kingdom. Below it are four royal suites: the Little Mermaid-inspired Royal Reef Suites and the Beauty and the Beast-inspired Royal Rose Suites.
There is exactly one Believe Tower Suite. Pearl Castaway Club members, Disney’s most loyal cruisers, got first crack at it this morning. If you weren’t on the phone at opening, consider it lovely concept art.
The concept art is gorgeous. Concept art is also not a floor plan.
If you’re traveling with a big crew — teenagers, little kids, grandparents — don’t let one enormous suite blind you to the arithmetic. Price both layouts before assuming the suite wins.
Run the comparison: two connecting verandah staterooms against one giant suite.
Connecting rooms give you two living zones, two balconies, two doors that actually close, and two split baths. That last one matters more than it sounds — it’s the difference between four people fighting over one sink before dinner and nobody fighting at all.
One tactical note. Make sure you’re booking connecting rooms, not adjoining ones. Adjoining cabins sit next to each other; connecting cabins share an interior door. Linking the reservations in the computer does not make the cabins connect. Verify the specific cabin pair before you lock it in.
Family math
Two connecting rooms vs. one big suite
Put the two quotes side by side before the big suite blinds you to the arithmetic.
No prices are built in. Disney hasn’t published Believe fares here, so use the numbers from your own quote. Connecting rooms are often priced differently, so enter each one if your quote shows two prices.
We’ll price both layouts and confirm the cabins actually connect.
Compare both for my familyYour October 19 Battle Plan
Believe will run short four- and five-night Bahamas and Caribbean itineraries out of Fort Lauderdale. Short cruises from South Florida are a high-demand sweet spot, and inaugural seasons get chaotic fast.
Before the phone lines and servers melt, do your homework.
- Decide how much the maiden voyage matters to you. The December 18, 2027 departure makes you one of Believe’s first guests. It also usually carries a premium. Compare it against the sailings that follow — same ship, same Encanto, same funnel suite — and pay for the first-departure bragging rights only if the bragging rights are the point.
- Lock in your headcount now. Know exactly who’s coming, their ages, and your cabin boundaries. Debating whether Grandma wants her own room while availability drains in real time is how you end up scrambling for whatever inside cabin is left.
- Budget the complete ticket. Disney is famous for sticker shock, but much of what other lines charge for is baked into the fare — soft drinks at the beverage stations, most room service, Broadway-grade productions. Score the whole value proposition against the competition, not just the base cabin rate.
Disney knows how to build an unbelievable ship. An incredible vacation still comes down to matching the hardware to your family’s travel style. Plan your cabin layout, pick your dates, and remember: magic is great, but a spreadsheet is what actually saves your sanity.
