Montréal's cruise terminal is on the waterfront of the old city.
The Grand Quay of the Port of Montréal sits at 200 rue de la Commune Ouest, across from the Pointe-à-Callière museum, per Tourisme Montréal. The Port says its terminals are reachable by car, public transit or on foot, and names Square-Victoria and Place-d'Armes as the nearest métro stations.
The Port counts more than 120,000 cruise passengers a year through a terminal covered by a green roof and terrace, with an observation tower and free public space around it.
Its 2026 schedule runs from April 24 to October 31. Before September, the turnarounds are mostly Holland America's Volendam; after that, almost everyone else arrives.

What the lines themselves say. Holland America says Volendam runs 10- and 11-day sailings between Boston and Montréal or roundtrip from Montréal, April to October 2026, plus 13- and 14-day repositioning cruises between Montréal and Fort Lauderdale or New York in May and September. A CruiseSheet listing also shows a seven-night Boston-to-Montréal Volendam sailing that arrives September 26 at 7:00 a.m.
Oceania's October 17 Vista sailing, Canada Explorer, runs Montréal to New York through October 28, with embarkation at 1 p.m. Regent's October 9 Seven Seas Splendor sailing, Celebrate the St. Lawrence, goes Montréal to New York in 11 nights. Regent's site also turned up, in search results we didn't open, a New York-to-Montréal voyage on October 20 and a 16-night Montréal-to-Miami voyage on October 30.
Visiting isn't embarking. Some ships only call. Victory II (May 1–3, Oct 5), Pearl Seas' Pearl Mist (May 18, Oct 1), Ponant's Le Bellot (Aug 9, Sep 26) and Hapag-Lloyd's Hanseatic Inspiration (Sep 27, Oct 17) are all listed as calls, and Victory I's April 24 visit is a call too. The Port's schedule says “Turn” or “Call” next to every ship. Check that word next to yours.
Two loose ends. Royal Caribbean has a “cruises from Montréal” page, but it lists no specific sailings, and none of its ships is on the Port's 2026 schedule. And older lists online name lines that aren't here: Cruise Critic's 2022 port article includes American Queen Voyages, Vantage and Ambassador, none of which appears on the 2026 schedule.
Where we list two terminals (T1/T2), the Port's schedule shows both for that ship. Your cruise documents name the one for your sailing.

Where a Montréal cruise ends
Most Montréal sailings don't come back to Montréal.
Every departure we traced heads down the St. Lawrence to Québec City and Saguenay first, then on toward the Maritimes and a U.S. port. Arrivals come the other way. So the planning question is what's on the other end, and how you get home from it.
Boston
Holland America's Volendam sails between Boston and Montréal, and roundtrip from Montréal. One seven-night run comes up from Boston via Eastport, Halifax, Sydney and Charlottetown. See our Boston guide.
New York
Oceania's Vista takes 11 days, calling at Baie-Comeau, Sept-Îles, Havre-Saint-Pierre, Corner Brook, Sydney, Halifax and Saint John. Regent's Seven Seas Splendor takes 11 nights, via Charlottetown, Halifax and Eastport. See our New York guide.
Fort Lauderdale
Viking's Canada & New England Scenic Shores spends its first two days in Montréal and ends in Fort Lauderdale on day 15, by way of Charlottetown, Saint John, Eastport, Portland and Newport. Holland America's May and September repositioning cruises also link Montréal with Fort Lauderdale or New York.
What about Québec City? On these itineraries it's the first stop, not a second start. Some lines begin their cruises there instead; our Québec City guide covers who does.
Content varies by line and sailing. Our Canada & New England guide covers the region.
Price the flight home from the other end before you book the cruise.
Cruise terminals
The Grand Quay's Terminals 1 and 2 handle most ships. Terminal 3 and a berth on Mill Street take the rest.
| Terminal | Address | Turnarounds on the 2026 schedule |
|---|---|---|
| Terminals 1 & 2 — Grand Quay | 200 rue de la Commune Ouest, H2Y 4B2 | Volendam, Vista, Le Lyrial and Crystal Symphony at T1; Scenic Eclipse and Victory I at T2; Azamara Journey, Viking Mars, Seven Seas Splendor and Silver Shadow listed at both |
| Terminal 3 — Berri entrance | Rue de la Commune Est at Berri | Seabourn Ovation; Amera, listed T3/T1 |
| Berths B1 & M5 — Mill Street | 851 rue des Moulins (Mill Street) | None marked B1 or M5; Star Pride shows “M1” on September 25 |
The Grand Quay is the one across from Pointe-à-Callière. Holland America calls it Grand Quai/Terminal 1, at the same address.
Tourisme Montréal lists EV charging, paid parking on site, bus and coach parking, and washrooms. Cruise Critic's 2022 article adds free Wi-Fi, plenty of seating and porters.
Where the sources disagree. Cruise Critic's 2022 article numbers the terminals 1, 2 and 4. The Port's access page lists Terminals 1, 2 and 3, plus berths B1 and M5, and its schedule also uses an “M1” for one Windstar turnaround.
Go by the Port and your line's documents. Volatile — confirm your terminal before travel
Check-in times. Neither the Port nor Holland America publishes check-in or bag-drop times for Montréal on the pages we read. Oceania lists “Embark 1 PM” for its October 17 sailing. On any other line, ask yours.
Leaving bags after you get off. Holland America says luggage storage is available at the port, at C$7 or US$5 per item. Cruise Critic's 2022 article says it isn't. Ask Holland America or the Port before you plan around it.
Off the quay, Bounce lists storage at 138 rue McGill (8 a.m. to 11 p.m.) and 507 Place d'Armes, from C$4.75 a day. VIA Rail runs a baggage checkroom at Central Station, 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday to Thursday and 7:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday to Sunday.
Parking, in short
The Port parks cruise passengers at the Grand Quay lot, at the terminal, for C$40 a day, taxes included. You send it a filled-out parking contract by email before you arrive. Review periodically
The lot holds up to 250 vehicles, and trailers and motorhomes aren't allowed. Height limits, payment and the Old Port lots nearby get the full page.

The Port's C$40-a-day contract, the height limits, the Old Port lots that charge up to C$90 a day, and why a one-way cruise changes the math.
See the full picture →Getting here: airport, bus or train
Montréal-Trudeau International (YUL), in Dorval, is the airport. Holland America puts it 21 km (13 miles) from the port, about 30 minutes depending on traffic. Tourisme Montréal says 20 minutes west of downtown.
Taxi. YUL posts a flat fare between the airport and downtown: C$49.45 from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m., and C$56.70 from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m., per its help page, updated May 14, 2026.
The Port says the flat fare covers the Grand Quay and quotes the same C$49.45 by day. The Port says the fare includes taxes but not the tip.
Uber and Lyft both run from YUL. Tourisme Montréal says the price depends on the ride type, the trip and current demand.
Bus. The STM's 747 runs 24 hours a day, every 10 to 20 minutes, per Tourisme Montréal. It costs C$11.25, per the STM, and the ticket doubles as a 24-hour pass for the bus, métro, exo trains and the REM in Zone A. The Port's page still shows an older C$11.
On board it's coins only, exact change. The STM also sells fares through its Chrono app and at the airport.
Here's the catch. The 747 leaves from door 28 and ends downtown, at Berri-UQAM (its stop moved to René-Lévesque at Berri on January 26, 2026). The STM stop list we read shows no Old Montréal stop, and Holland America says you'll need a taxi from downtown to the pier.
The REM isn't at the airport yet. REM says its airport branch is scheduled for 2027. Time Out reported on August 14, 2026 that testing had begun and that the stations are due at the end of 2027. Through October 19, 2026, a temporary STM route 815 links YUL to the REM's Des Sources station, every 30 minutes (every 15 from 1 to 8 p.m.), per REM.
Rental cars. Alamo and Enterprise both list YUL locations.
Cruise line transfers. Holland America sells airport-to-ship transfers but didn't publish a Montréal price on the pages we read; you can also buy post-cruise transfers onboard. Viking includes transfers when you buy its air, and sells them separately otherwise. Regent includes a one-night pre-cruise hotel package with ground transfers in Concierge suites and higher on its October 9 sailing. Oceania's voyage page doesn't say.
Train from New York. Amtrak's Adirondack runs daily from Moynihan Train Hall to Montréal's Central Station, in about 10 hours per Amtrak or about 11 per Tourisme Montréal, crossing the border at Rouses Point, New York.
Central Station is at 895 rue de la Gauchetière Ouest, under the Queen Elizabeth hotel, near Bonaventure and McGill métro stations, per VIA Rail. Buying Amtrak tickets there? VIA says the counter is open 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., takes credit cards only, and wants a valid passport.
| From | Distance / time | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|
| Montréal-Trudeau (YUL) | ~21 km / ~30 min by car | Flat taxi fare C$49.45 by day, C$56.70 from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Taxes included, tip not, per the Port. Uber and Lyft by app. |
| 747 bus, every 10–20 min, 24/7 | C$11.25, coins only on board. Ends downtown; take a taxi to the pier, per Holland America. | |
| New York | ~10 to 11 h by Amtrak | The Adirondack, daily, to Central Station. Bring your passport. |
Flying home to the U.S.? YUL has U.S. border preclearance, so you clear U.S. customs before you board; U.S. border control is at Checkpoint C, per Tourisme Montréal.
In the U.S.-bound zone, Milesopedia lists the Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge (gates 72–73) and the Desjardins Odyssey Lounge (gate 76), and no Priority Pass access. LoungePair sells two hours in the Desjardins Odyssey for US$41. Priority Pass lists four lounges elsewhere in the terminal.
Papers. U.S. citizens don't need an eTA for Canada but must carry proper ID such as a valid U.S. passport, per the Government of Canada, which recommends a passport as the only reliable, universally accepted travel document. U.S. green-card holders flying in need their passport plus the card.
Holland America says passports are required for all international air travel to and from the U.S., and recommends six months' validity beyond your trip. Its closed-loop exception covers only cruises that start and end at the same U.S. port, so it doesn't apply here. Review periodically
Flight timing. No line we checked publishes a Montréal-specific rule for the earliest flight home.
Volendam is scheduled in at 7:00 a.m. on turnaround days, per the Port. Holland America wants your flight details at least 14 days before departure, and Viking's international air leaves the U.S. the day before check-in. Anything else, ask your line.

Montréal FAQ
Which cruise lines sail from Montréal?
The Port of Montréal's 2026 schedule marks 13 ships as turnarounds: Holland America's Volendam, Azamara Journey, Viking Mars, Phoenix Reisen's Amera, Regent's Seven Seas Splendor, Scenic Eclipse, Oceania's Vista, Seabourn Ovation, Windstar's Star Pride, Silversea's Silver Shadow, Ponant's Le Lyrial, Victory Cruise Lines' Victory I and Crystal Symphony. Other ships, including Victory II, Pearl Mist, Le Bellot and Hanseatic Inspiration, only call. No Royal Caribbean, Princess, Norwegian, Carnival, Celebrity or MSC sailing appears on that schedule.
Which terminal does my ship use in Montréal?
Usually Terminal 1 or 2 at the Grand Quay, 200 rue de la Commune Ouest, across from the Pointe-à-Callière museum. Seabourn Ovation uses Terminal 3, at the Berri entrance on rue de la Commune Est, per the Port's 2026 schedule. The Port also lists berths B1 and M5 at 851 rue des Moulins (Mill Street). Your cruise documents name yours.
How do I get from Montréal's airport to the cruise terminal?
A taxi is the simple answer. Montréal-Trudeau (YUL) posts a flat fare to downtown of C$49.45 from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. and C$56.70 overnight, and the Port says the daytime flat fare applies to the Grand Quay. The Port says the fare includes taxes but not the tip. The 747 bus costs C$11.25 and runs around the clock, but it ends downtown; Holland America says you'll need a taxi from there to the pier.
Is a Montréal cruise round-trip or one-way?
Mostly one-way. The 2026 sailings we traced run to or from Boston (Holland America's Volendam), to New York (Oceania's Vista, Regent's Seven Seas Splendor) and to Fort Lauderdale (Viking). Holland America says Volendam also sails roundtrip from Montréal. Price the flight home from the far end before you book.
Where do I park for a Montréal cruise?
At the terminal. The Port's Grand Quay lot charges cruise passengers C$40 a day, taxes included, under a parking contract you email to the Port before you arrive. It takes Visa, Mastercard, debit or cash, holds up to 250 vehicles, and doesn't allow trailers or motorhomes. Our parking page covers the height limits and the Old Port lots nearby.
Can I take the train to a Montréal cruise?
From New York, yes. Amtrak's Adirondack runs daily from Moynihan Train Hall to Montréal's Central Station, in about 10 hours per Amtrak or about 11 per Tourisme Montréal. VIA Rail says the station sits near the Bonaventure and McGill métro stations; the Port names Square-Victoria and Place-d'Armes as the métro stops for its terminals.
Does the REM train go to Montréal's airport yet?
Not yet. REM says its branch to the airport is scheduled to open in 2027. Time Out reported in August 2026 that testing had begun and that the two stations are due at the end of 2027. Until then, it's the taxi, a rideshare or the 747 bus.
