Mövenpick Hotel Amsterdam City Centre
In the cruise terminal complex itself, per Accor: 408 rooms over a 24-hour garage — about 0.2 miles on foot to PTA's address point by our routing.
Pre-Cruise Hotels · Amsterdam
Thirteen hotels for an Amsterdam cruise, from the terminal’s own building to Schiphol and IJmuiden, scored on what gets you to the ship, not on reviews. Thirteen is all that qualified, and we say why below.
Three taps and we’ll show your best three hotels.
Change any answer and the picks change with it. They’re built from the same published facts as the ranking below. Nobody pays to be here.
Matching weighs your answers against each hotel’s published shuttle, parking, breakfast, pool, beach, kitchen and pet policies.
Five answers, and the page builds the whole thing: the hotel, the ride in, the ride to the ship, what happens to the car, what time to leave, and how you get home. Every figure is one the hotel, the port or the company publishes. Where nobody publishes a number, you’ll see that instead of a guess.
Who’s coming and the mood come from Your Match; the plan uses the same answers.
Partner links (transfers, rental cars, luggage storage) may earn Seabound Journeys a commission at no extra cost to you. They don't change the plan, which is built only from what each company publishes.
No hotel here runs a shuttle to a cruise terminal or sells parking for the cruise, so the walk and breakfast decide the podium, not perks. Mövenpick leads on 48: Accor puts it in the terminal complex itself, about 0.2 miles on foot by our routing. Scores run low because no Amsterdam hotel sells a ship shuttle or a cruise parking rate, so 48 is the top mark on this scale, not a pass mark. Hotel Jakarta is two points behind with breakfast in every rate and a pool. Hampton Centre East is third on 35 — a free breakfast and parking at the door, not a shorter walk.
Narrow the thirteen by what your night needs, then tick up to three to compare side by side — the order is ours, the shortlist is yours.
Why thirteen, not twenty? We checked 26 hotels and ranked only the open ones that publish enough to score. Three near Centraal are known to us only from a MICHELIN or Booking.com listing. We didn’t pad the list with them — they’re here, with the reason.

Pick how you’re arriving. The board counts what each hotel publishes, the table lights up that column, and the companies below run from the airport to the port.
Schiphol · about 13.0 road miles to PTA and 19.9 to IJmuiden's Felison terminal, our routing; trains to Centraal eight times an hour
Trains run eight times an hour from the station under Schiphol Plaza, track 3 for Centraal, in 14 to 17 minutes, per Schiphol. I amsterdam puts the fare at about €5 to €5.50 one way; NS and Schiphol don't print it on the pages we read, so check the amount on the reader when you tap out. Tap in with a contactless card or phone. From Centraal, PTA is about 0.8 miles on foot by our routing, or one stop on tram 26.
Schiphol publishes no fixed fare: taxis at the rank in front of Schiphol Plaza run on the meter, and every one takes contactless and credit cards. The national maximum tariff for 2026 is €4.31 to start, €3.17 a kilometre and €0.52 a minute for a car of up to four. At those caps, our 13.0-mile routing to PTA would come to about €84 (about US$95), our arithmetic. Holland America estimates about €45 (about US$50) — and the terminal's older page €40 to €60 (about US$45–65).
Both use Schiphol's dedicated app pick-up point, which has free Wi-Fi, per Schiphol. Holland America says Uber and Bolt are readily available in Amsterdam.
Every 10 minutes by day, with the N97 hourly at night, per I amsterdam's July 2025 page; Schiphol says tickets start at €6.50 online. It doesn't stop at either cruise terminal.
Holland America's transfers, run by SMS International Shore Operations, meet guests after customs. Its port page says to meet the representative no later than 1:30 pm, and its blog adds transfers to Rotterdam and IJmuiden. Princess sends a uniformed representative to the airport. Neither prints a price on the pages we read.
Viator's Amsterdam port-transfer page listed private cruise transfers from US$39 and a cruise-port-to-Schiphol car from US$83 when we re-read it on October 4, 2026. Those are a reseller's 'from' prices, so confirm what's included before you pay.
The Felison Cruise Terminal is about 19.9 road miles (32.0 km) and 31 minutes from Schiphol by our routing, with no traffic. An IJmuiden information site says the town has no train station, so it's a taxi, a booked transfer or the line's own coach.
Every rental at Schiphol is collected at the Car Rental and Service Desk in Schiphol Plaza, per the airport. A car suits the IJmuiden and Velsen hotels; in the city it mostly costs you parking.
Driving? The column to watch is “While you sail”. Compare hotel parking with the options on Amsterdam cruise parking, or price it out in the parking math below.
| Hotel | To the ship | While you sail | From AMS |
|---|---|---|---|
| In the terminal complex | Cruise parking unconfirmed | Not stated | |
Schiphol (AMS)Accor says Schiphol is "only 20 minutes" from the hotel without naming the mode, and lists no shuttle. By our routing the airport is 13.1 road miles off, about 25 minutes on an empty motorway. To the shipAccor places the hotel in the cruise terminal complex, so the ship is a walk, not a ride — about 4 minutes to the terminal's address point by our routing. No transfer is offered, and you won't miss one. | |||
| Shuttle not stated | Cruise parking unconfirmed | Not stated | |
Schiphol (AMS)No shuttle — the hotel suggests a pre-arranged taxi through AMS Holland; our routing puts Schiphol about 15.8 road miles away, roughly 26 minutes. | Shuttle not stated | Cruise parking unconfirmed | No shuttlethe hotel says so | |
Schiphol (AMS)No airport shuttle, per Hilton. It's 6 km from Schiphol by Hilton's count, about 4.7 road miles by our routing — a short taxi. To the shipNo shuttle to the ship — or to the airport, which Hilton lists as not available. Sail morning means a taxi or your own car. | |||
| Shuttle not stated | Cruise parking unconfirmed | Not stated | |
Schiphol (AMS)NH lists no shuttle; it says Schiphol is 25 minutes by train, or 15 on the direct intercity, from the station opposite. To the shipNH lists no transfer to the ship — by our routing it's about 17 minutes on foot, or a short taxi from the station rank across the road. | |||
| Shuttle not stated | Cruise parking unconfirmed | Not stated | |
Schiphol (AMS)IHG says no shuttle is offered — Centraal is about 0.3 miles on foot by our routing, so the Schiphol train works. To the shipIHG says no shuttle is offered — it's about 22 minutes on foot by our routing, or about 2.6 road miles by taxi. | |||

| Shuttle not stated | No parking at the hotel | Not stated | |
Schiphol (AMS)Room Mate doesn't mention an airport transfer — Centraal is about 0.8 miles on foot by our routing, so the Schiphol train is the easy way in. To the shipRoom Mate offers no ride to the ship. It's the longest walk in our city list, about 28 minutes, so with cruise bags a taxi makes more sense — about 1.4 road miles. | |||
| Shuttle not stated | Cruise parking unconfirmed | No shuttlethe hotel says so | |
Schiphol (AMS)Hilton lists an airport shuttle as not available — our routing puts the airport's reference point about 1.0 road miles away; ask the desk about the walk. To the shipNo ship transfer. Schiphol (AMS)A 4-minute walk from Arrivals, per the hotel, which runs no shuttle. To the shipNo ship transfer, and no airport shuttle either — you walk to the terminal building, per the hotel. From there it's the train to Centraal or a taxi to the port. | |||
| Shuttle not stated | Cruise parking unconfirmed | Not stated | |
Schiphol (AMS)Bastion puts Schiphol 24.5 km away and lists no shuttle; our routing gives about 13.1 road miles, roughly 23 minutes. To the shipNo ride to the ship — for a Felison sailing it's a taxi of about 14 minutes by our routing; for PTA, a drive of about 33. | |||
| Shuttle not stated | Cruise parking unconfirmed | Not stated | |
Schiphol (AMS)The hotel mentions no airport transfer — our routing puts Schiphol about 16.7 road miles away, roughly 26 minutes; IJmuiden has no train station, per an IJmuiden information site. To the shipThe hotel offers no ride to the ship — for a Felison sailing it's a short taxi, about 5 minutes by our routing; for PTA, a drive of about 36 minutes on clear roads. | |||
These thirteen are ranked for an easy sail morning, not for the room. The grander nights are on the splurge list. De L'Europe holds Three MICHELIN Keys, the Waldorf Astoria is Forbes' Five-Star, and TwentySeven, Pillows Maurits and Tivoli Doelen hold Two Keys each. None runs a cruise shuttle, so what you pay for here is the night before, not the ride to the ship.
Every distance here ends at Passenger Terminal Amsterdam’s address point on Piet Heinkade — Esri’s point for number 27, not a gangway. City hotels are measured on foot by our routing, because that’s how most people will cover it. Schiphol and IJmuiden get road miles with no traffic, a floor, not a promise.
Three sit a short walk from the terminal and five around Centraal and the Eastern Docklands. Three are at Schiphol or beside it, and two near IJmuiden. Sailing from IJmuiden? Read the list upside down. Rauw aan de Kade is about 1.7 road miles from the Felison terminal and Bastion about 5.6 — every city hotel is a drive of 17 miles or more.
Numbers are the ranking. Each pin sits where the hotel is — the bands group them by distance, the way we score it.
Five things make an Amsterdam night before easy or hard, and the first is which terminal you’re sailing from. Every point comes from what the hotel publishes on its own site or its brand’s.
Silence earns nothing: no published fact, no points. A breakfast “included depending on the rate” is information, not points, and a distance to Centraal isn’t a distance to the ship.
By band, from PTA by our routing: A short walk to PTA (0.2 to 0.6 miles on foot to PTA) 30; Centraal and the Eastern Docklands (0.8 to 1.3 miles on foot to PTA) 25; Schiphol (12.7 to 16.4 road miles to PTA) 15; IJmuiden and Velsen (16.9 to 17.4 road miles to PTA; 1.7 to 5.6 to Felison) 10. No hotel we could document sits between 1.3 and 12.7 miles out, so there’s no 20-point band.
Hotel-run shuttle with a published price, 25. A ride only inside a package 20. The hotel’s own ride, fare unpublished, 15. The hotel says you can walk to the cruise terminal, or prints half a mile or less, 15 — only the Mövenpick, which calls itself part of the terminal complex. A named partner 10.
A published rate to leave the car while you cruise 20; offered, price unpublished 14. Daily garage rates don’t count unless the hotel says they cover a cruise — none does.
A breakfast the hotel says is included scores 10. Three of the thirteen say so: Hotel Jakarta for every room, and both Hamptons.
Pool 3, food or a bar on site 3, a kitchen in the room 3. No beach points here.
Ties are broken in a fixed order. The lower published parking rate wins first, then any stated way to the ship, free breakfast and parking on site. After that comes the shorter distance to PTA by our routing, the lower guest parking price, then the alphabet. On 28: Hampton Schiphol includes breakfast and Barbizon Palace doesn’t say so. Barbizon Palace sits closer to PTA than Kimpton De Witt, about 0.8 miles on foot against 1.0 miles on foot. Kimpton De Witt has parking on site and The Hoxton, Lloyd doesn’t. The Hoxton, Lloyd sits closer to PTA than Room Mate Aitana, about 0.9 miles on foot against 1.3 miles on foot. On 13: Bastion Velsen sits closer to PTA than Rauw aan de Kade, about 16.9 road miles against 17.4 road miles.
Room rates and review scores aren’t scored — they move daily. The tourist tax isn’t scored either: KHN, the Dutch hospitality association, reports 12.5% of the room price for 2026, and The Hoxton, Lloyd says its rates already include it.
None of the thirteen sells a way to leave the car while you sail. Book a garage that does. This is what’s published, with the source for each.
At the hotels. Daily rates for your stay, not cruise deals. The Hampton in Hoofddorp charges €25.00 and the Hampton in the Eastern Docklands €35.00. Hotel Jakarta asks €40 per 24 hours (€30 (about US$35) booked direct), the DoubleTree €45.00 and Hilton Schiphol €54.00 (about US$60). Kimpton De Witt is €75 (about US$85) per 24 hours (€9 (about US$10) an hour), per IHG, and the Barbizon Palace €70. Rauw aan de Kade and Bastion park guests free while spaces last. Not one of them says the car can stay for the cruise.
By the terminal. The terminal’s own parking page lists Garage Piet Hein, the city’s garage under PTA, from about €322 (about US$360) for two weeks booked ahead, and Interparking’s IJ-oever Centrum, three minutes’ walk away, from about €280 (about US$315) — neither prints a one-week figure. Drive up unbooked and Piet Hein charges by the hour — €5.34 (about US$6), up to €53.40 (about US$60) a day, per parkerenindestad.nl, an aggregator.
Sold for a cruise. Q-Park Oostenburg’s Park+Cruise is €75 for 1 to 5 days, €90 (about US$100) for 6, €105 (about US$120) for 7, €120 (about US$135) for 8 and €210 (about US$235) for 14, booked online. A seven-night cruise spans eight days, so budget €120. It’s about a 20-minute walk from PTA, per Q-Park. The city’s P+R sites cap stays at 96 hours, too short for a week at sea.
| Q-Park Oostenburg Park+Cruise, per Q-Park | — |
| Garage Piet Hein under PTA, unbooked, at the €53.40 day maximum an aggregator lists | — |
Days parked are your cruise nights plus one. Q-Park prints every length up to 15 days, €15 (about US$17) a day apart, so a 7-night cruise (8 days) comes to €120; past 15 days we carry on at €15, our arithmetic. The Piet Hein row is the unbooked worst case, the aggregator’s €53.40 day maximum times your days — booked ahead it’s far less.
Every option side by side: Amsterdam cruise parking, compared.
We checked 26 hotels: sixteen for the ranking and ten for the splurge list. Three of the sixteen are also near Centraal but too thinly documented to score.
| Hotel | Why it isn’t ranked |
|---|---|
| INK Amsterdam – MGallery (also near Centraal) | Known to us only from MICHELIN's listing: 149 rooms and the Pressroom bar on Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal. That's too little to score, and the hotel's own site didn't resolve for us. |
| Park Plaza Victoria Amsterdam (also near Centraal) | On Damrak, facing Centraal, but all we hold is a Booking.com listing — no facts from the hotel, so no score. |
| ibis Amsterdam Centre (also near Centraal) | By the station on Stationsplein, again known only from a Booking.com listing. It isn't ranked until its own page can be read. |
| Lloyd Hotel | Not a separate hotel any more: the same building trades as The Hoxton, Lloyd, ranked above. |
| Sheraton Amsterdam Airport and Steigenberger Airport Hotel | We didn't reach official pages for either, so neither is scored. Three Schiphol hotels are ranked instead. |
| Swissôtel Amsterdam | Not reviewed for this list. |
None of the thirteen prints an airport shuttle. Schiphol is about 13.0 road miles from PTA by our routing, roughly 25 minutes with no traffic, and about 19.9 from the Felison terminal at IJmuiden.
For PTA the train is the easy default. It runs eight an hour from under Schiphol Plaza to Centraal in 14 to 17 minutes, per Schiphol — then about 0.8 miles on foot or one stop on tram 26. The Getting There table shows what every hotel publishes; the airport page has the taxi tariff and the landing check.
Tours, tickets and things to do are on Booking.com. Book the day before, not sail day.

On our scoring it's the Mövenpick Hotel Amsterdam City Centre. Accor puts it "in the cruise terminal complex" on Piet Heinkade, and our walking route to PTA's address point is about 0.2 miles. Hotel Jakarta, with breakfast in every rate and a pool, is second, and Hampton Centre East third on its free hot breakfast.
Because we rank only what we could check on a hotel's own site or its brand's. We looked at 26 hotels, ten of them for the splurge list. INK, Park Plaza Victoria and ibis Amsterdam Centre are all near Centraal, but we hold only a MICHELIN or Booking.com listing for them, too little to score.
Amsterdam has two places a cruise can start. Passenger Terminal Amsterdam (PTA), which now calls itself Cruise Port Amsterdam, is at Piet Heinkade 27 in the city, east of Centraal. The Felison Cruise Terminal is at Cruiseboulevard 10 in IJmuiden, on the North Sea coast. Princess's page calls that port "Amsterdam (IJmuiden)" and describes a 28-mile coach ride into the city. Your documents name yours, and the difference is a walk against a drive of about 19 road miles.
To PTA, yes, from the city. Our walking routes run from about 0.2 miles at the Mövenpick to 1.3 miles at Room Mate Aitana. The terminal says Centraal is about a 15-minute walk. To IJmuiden, no — it's a drive of about 19 road miles from the city by our routing.
None of the thirteen sells parking for a cruise. Garage rates by the day run from €25.00 at the Hampton in Hoofddorp to €70 at the Barbizon Palace, for your stay. Q-Park Oostenburg sells Park+Cruise at €75 for up to 5 days, €105 for 7 and €120 for 8, about a 20-minute walk from PTA, per Q-Park; budget €120 for a seven-night cruise.
There's no fixed fare, per Schiphol; taxis run on the meter. The 2026 national maximum is €4.31 plus €3.17 a kilometre and €0.52 a minute, which over our 13.0-mile route to PTA tops out around €84, our arithmetic. Holland America estimates about €45.
None of our thirteen runs a free one from AMS. Trains run eight an hour from Schiphol to Centraal in 14 to 17 minutes, per Schiphol. From there PTA is about 0.8 miles on foot by our routing. Taxis run on the meter, with no fixed airport fare.
Amsterdam's tourist tax is 12.5% of the room price in 2026, per KHN, the Dutch hospitality association. The city's own page blocked our reader, so check your booking for the exact charge. The Hoxton, Lloyd says its rates already include city tax and VAT. Hotels at Schiphol and Hoofddorp are in Haarlemmermeer, and the IJmuiden-side ones in Velsen; Amsterdam's rate doesn't apply there, and we didn't research theirs.
Rates change daily, and any figure we printed would be stale before you read it. We rank on what holds still — distance, the ride, parking, breakfast and the evening, not price.
