The verdict

The Admiral sells the view: it faces Bryggen across the harbour, and the Social Bar & Bistro has a terrace on the water.

On a map Skolten looks close, about 700 m in a straight line. On foot it isn’t, because you go round the harbour, so we score it with the centre hotels. For a Hurtigruten voyage from Jekteviken, this side of town is handier.

Breakfast depends on the price type.

Book it if

  • You want the classic Bryggen view from your window
  • You’re sailing Hurtigruten from Jekteviken
  • You’re bringing a pet

Look elsewhere if

  • You want to walk to Skolten
  • You want breakfast guaranteed

Which quay

Skolten

Measured to Skolten, where Bergen Havn’s ocean-cruise turnarounds happen, Clarion Admiral is about 700 m in a straight line. For a Hurtigruten coastal voyage you want the Jektevik Terminal instead, about 400 m away. Your documents name the quay; the Bergen cruise guide has the rest.

In town

KlosterGarasjen, up to NOK 280 a day

There’s no cruise car park at Skolten or Jekteviken that we could find. KlosterGarasjen, on Vestre Murallmenning, is the garage Visit Bergen puts closest to the coastal-voyage terminal: NOK 26 to 52 an hour, capped at NOK 280 a day, with 3-, 7-, 14- and 30-day passes. Scandic quotes the same garage at NOK 300 per 24 hours, so check the sign.
