The Nicest Night Near the Ship

Boston splits the choice. By the ship, the Seaport’s best are AAA Four Diamond; the Five Diamonds start across the Fort Point Channel, at the Boston Harbor Hotel, and run to Back Bay. Here’s what each trade costs you on sail morning.

What kind of splurge is it?

We looked for the nicest places to stay before a cruise from Boston. Two of the six also make our top 20: the Seaport Hotel and the Omni, both in the Seaport. The Envoy is in Fort Point, the Boston Harbor Hotel on Rowes Wharf, and the two Four Seasons in Back Bay, a cab from the ship. Tap the night you’re after and the pick lights up.

All six are on AAA’s 2026 lists: three Five Diamond and three Four Diamond. None of the Logan hotels we checked is on either list, and we say so rather than stretch.

The Trade

Splurge the night, and plan the morning

None of the six runs a shuttle to the ship, and none says how far the terminal is. The Seaport Hotel, the Omni and the Envoy are a short cab away; from Rowes Wharf and Back Bay it’s a longer one, across the Fort Point Channel.

Breakfast is extra at the Seaport Hotel, the Boston Harbor Hotel and Four Seasons Boston, and the others don’t say.

Fees add up: the Seaport Hotel charges a $25 daily destination fee and the Omni $35 a room a day, and parking, where it’s printed, runs $55 to $70 a night. The Boston Harbor Hotel says it charges no resort fee. None of the six says you can leave the car while you cruise.

FAQ

Splurge hotels FAQ

What is the nicest hotel near the Boston cruise terminal?

Close to the ship, the Seaport's AAA Four Diamonds: the Seaport Hotel, No. 17 in our top 20, and the Omni, No. 18, with a year-round rooftop pool. The Envoy in Fort Point is Four Diamond too. By the ratings, the Boston Harbor Hotel on Rowes Wharf is AAA Five Diamond and Forbes Five-Star, across the Fort Point Channel from the Seaport.

Are there Five Diamond hotels near the Boston cruise terminal?

Not in the Seaport. The nearest is the Boston Harbor Hotel on Rowes Wharf, downtown; the others on AAA's 2026 Five Diamond list that we checked are in Back Bay and by Boston Common: both Four Seasons, the Mandarin Oriental, the Ritz-Carlton, The Newbury and Raffles.

Do luxury hotels in Boston have a cruise shuttle?

None of our six runs one. The Seaport Hotel, the Omni and the Envoy are in the Seaport, a short cab from the terminal; Four Seasons One Dalton offers a house car within a 2-mile radius without saying whether the terminal is inside it. The Boston Harbor Hotel's water taxi runs to Logan, not to the ship.

Can I leave my car at a splurge hotel while I cruise?

None of the six says so. The Boston Harbor Hotel charges $55 to self-park and $70 for valet, and the Omni $60 and $70; the Seaport Hotel's valet is $59. Massport's cruise lot, the Fargo Lot, is prepaid on Parking.com with a free shuttle; third-party guides put the cruiseport lots at about $25 a day.

Do the Seaport hotels charge resort fees?

Some do. The Seaport Hotel charges a $25 daily destination fee and the Omni $35 a room a day; the Boston Harbor Hotel says it charges no resort or destination fee. Check what the fee covers when you book.
