Pre-Cruise Hotels · Boston
Twenty hotels for a cruise from Boston, in the Seaport, downtown and around Logan, scored on what gets you to the ship, not on reviews. Pick yours, and let the trip start the night before.
Three taps and we’ll show your best three hotels.
Change any answer and the picks change with it. They’re built from the same published facts as the ranking below. Nobody pays to be here.
Matching weighs your answers against each hotel’s published shuttle, parking, breakfast, pool, beach, kitchen and pet policies.
Five answers, and the page builds the whole thing: the hotel, the ride in, the ride to the ship, what happens to the car, what time to leave, and how you get home. Every figure is one the hotel, the port or the company publishes. Where nobody publishes a number, you’ll see that instead of a guess.
Who’s coming and the mood come from Your Match; the plan uses the same answers.
Partner links (transfers, rental cars, luggage storage, lounges) may earn Seabound Journeys a commission at no extra cost to you. They don't change the plan, which is built only from what each company publishes.
One with its own ride to the ship and two you can walk from. The Holiday Inn Express in South Boston lists a shuttle to the cruise terminal, fare by phone, with free breakfast; Homewood Suites and Hyatt Place, in the Seaport, put the terminal a 5- and a 10-minute walk away.
Filter by what matters for your night. Save the ones you like, or tick up to three to compare side by side — the order is ours, the shortlist is yours.

Pick how you’re arriving. The board counts what each hotel publishes, the table lights up that column, and the companies below run from the airport to the port.
Norwegian puts Logan about 2 miles and 10 minutes from the cruiseport; Holland America says 2.8 miles, 45 to 60 minutes with traffic, and a taxi of about $40. Ten of the twenty are in the Seaport, a walk or a short ride from the terminal.
Boston Logan International · about 2 miles and 10 minutes to the cruiseport, per Norwegian
"Service from Logan Airport is always free," per the MBTA, on the SL1. Princess's route is the SL1 to Silver Line Way, then an SL2 bus to Drydock Avenue, "about a 10-minute walk to Black Falcon Avenue"; Holland America points to the SL1 too. The MBTA's SL2 page lists a local bus fare of $1.70 one way, and we couldn't confirm whether the free ride from Logan covers the SL2 leg. On September 27, the MBTA had the SL2 detoured weekdays from 6 PM to the end of service, with 23 Drydock Ave among the closest outbound stops.
Boston cabs run on the meter: "First 1/7 Mile: $2.60", 40 cents for each 1/7 mile after that and $28 an hour waiting, per the Boston Police Hackney rates, which list no flat fare from Logan to the Seaport. On the way back to the airport, "Passenger pays $2.75 toll for all trips from Boston proper to Logan Airport". Holland America puts Logan about 2.8 miles from the terminal, 45 to 60 minutes depending on traffic, with a taxi at about $40; Norwegian says 2 miles, about 10 minutes, and Royal Caribbean 4 miles. A taxi association's rate sheet (ITOA) gives different figures, including a $3.80 start and a $2.25 Massport taxi pool fee. Holland America adds that Uber and Lyft are available.
Boston Water Taxi runs a cruise service between Logan and Flynn Cruiseport, with fares shown only in its booking engine. Its page lists trips to Logan at the top of each hour, and one departure to the cruiseport, at 11:45 AM, as we read it. At the cruiseport, you wait under the large blue awning that says "Cathleen Stone Island/Outward Bound", about a third of a mile's walk from the terminal. Phone (617) 406-8584.
Norwegian sells transfers without a Boston price on the pages we read: "Purchases must be arranged at least 4 days prior to sailing," and its terms say transfers run "to and from the airport to the pier only on the day of sailing".
Princess says "a uniformed Princess representative meets you at the airport" and takes you to your ship or hotel, with no price on its Boston page. For flights on embarkation day, "All Flights: Latest arrival cannot be after 1 pm", and flights home should leave no earlier than 5 hours after the ship's arrival.
For the way home, Holland America's "Scenic Boston with Airport Transfer" runs about 2.5 hours and ends at Logan, for flights departing at 2 PM or later. It's a tour, not a plain transfer, and we found no plain transfer price on Holland America's pages.
Viator's Boston port-transfer listings include a private transfer from Logan to Flynn Cruise Port from $79, a departure transfer to Logan from $28, one from the cruiseport to Logan from $92, and private luxury transportation to or from Logan from $129. Transfers from city hotels to the cruiseport start at $118.

These twenty are ranked for an easy sail morning, not for the room. Boston’s best-rated rooms are on the Waterfront and in Back Bay: AAA’s Five Diamonds include the Boston Harbor Hotel on Rowes Wharf and both Four Seasons, and none of the hotels we checked at or by Logan is on AAA’s Four or Five Diamond lists. Two Seaport Four Diamonds, the Seaport Hotel and the Omni, make our top twenty.
Boston has one cruise terminal, Flynn Cruiseport at 1 Black Falcon Avenue, out on the Seaport’s working waterfront. The bands measure from there: the Seaport and Fort Point; downtown and South Boston; Logan, through the tunnel; then Chelsea and Revere, north of the airport.
Ten of the twenty are in the Seaport, two downtown or in South Boston, three at Logan and five in Chelsea or Revere. None in the suburbs made the cut.
Numbers are the ranking. Each pin sits where the hotel is — the bands group them by distance, the way we score it.
Five things decide how easy the night before is, and each one is scored only from what the hotel publishes on its own site or its brand’s.
If a hotel doesn't say it, it scores zero there — not a guess, zero. Travel sites, tourism listings and review sites don't count, and when a hotel’s own pages contradict each other, we score the claim as unconfirmed and tell you. Each page lists exactly what we couldn't confirm.
By band, from the terminal: the Seaport and Fort Point 30; downtown and South Boston 25; Logan Airport 20; Back Bay, Cambridge, Chelsea and Revere 15; the suburbs 10.
Hotel-run shuttle, free or with a published price, 25. A ride only inside a package or offer 20. The hotel’s own ride with no published fare 15. The hotel says you can walk: across the street, a few blocks, or half a mile or less, 15. A ride the hotel arranges through someone else, or a shuttle company it names, 10. A shuttle that doesn’t name the terminal doesn’t count.
Published rate to leave the car 20, including a package with a published price. Offered, price unpublished 14.
Sail mornings start early. A free breakfast on site scores 10, including one inside a mandatory nightly fee.
On the beach 6 (none of the twenty is), pool 3, food or a bar on site 3, a kitchen in the room 3.
Ties are broken in order: the lower published parking rate, any stated way to the ship, free breakfast, parking on site, the closer stated mileage, the lower guest parking price, then the alphabet. That’s why Homewood Suites sits above Hyatt Place on 61: it prints its valet rate. On 46 the Residence Inn beats the Element on parking at the hotel itself. On 41 the Holiday Inn Chelsea’s $10 Park & Fly beats the Four Points’ $25, and both beat the Crosstown Hampton, which prints no rate to leave the car. On 40 the Hilton Garden Inn edges the Courtyard on guest parking, $25 a day to $30, and the five Seaport hotels on 36 fall in order of what they charge to park, with Aloft last because its valet is off site.
What's left out is deliberate. Room rates change daily, so they aren't scored. Neither are guest-review scores — they measure a stay in general, not a sail morning.
The ranking tells you which hotel makes the morning easiest. Your dates and your budget decide the rest, so price your own night before you book the winner.
Two of the twenty print a rate to leave the car, both north of Logan. Set your cruise length to see them against the cruiseport lots, at about $25 a day per third-party guides.
| #10 Holiday Inn Logan Chelsea | — |
| #11 Four Points Revere | — |
| Cruiseport lots, about $25 a day per third-party guides | — |
Two of the twenty print a rate to leave the car, both north of Logan and sold as airport parking: the Holiday Inn Chelsea’s Park & Fly from $10 a night, in 4- or 8-day options, and the Four Points’ $25 a day after check-out, with parking free while you stay. Neither mentions cruises or runs a ride to the ship, so add your own. The port row is the cruiseport lots at about $25 a day, per third-party guides; Massport’s own rate isn’t readable. We count the day you park and the day you leave. Room rates aren’t included.
For the options in town, see Boston cruise parking, compared.
We checked 51 hotels in the Seaport, downtown, Back Bay, Cambridge, around Logan and in the suburbs. These came closest, with their scores and the reason each fell short. The Boston Harbor Hotel, both Four Seasons and the Envoy are on the splurge list, with the Seaport Hotel and the Omni.
| Hotel | Score | Why it missed |
|---|---|---|
| DoubleTree by Hilton Boston Logan Airport Chelsea | 35 | Hilton's Park, Stay & Go on its offers page, a free Logan shuttle from 5 AM to 10 PM, an indoor pool and the Pendulum Pub, but no free breakfast, and pets aren't allowed. |
| Residence Inn by Marriott Boston Back Bay/Fenway | 34 | A free hot breakfast, kitchens, an indoor pool and a rooftop bar with Fenway Park views, but valet only at $72 and nothing for cruisers. |
| YOTEL Boston | 33 | On Seaport Boulevard with the Deck 12 rooftop bar, but a $45 nightly facility fee, $80 valet and no word on the terminal; a parking reseller's cruise listing for it isn't the hotel's. |
| The Envoy Hotel, Autograph Collection | 33 | AAA Four Diamond in Fort Point, with a rooftop bar seven levels above the harbor, but Marriott's page gives no parking rate, breakfast or distance to the terminal. It's one of our splurge picks. |
| Holiday Inn Express Boston Logan Airport - Revere | 31 | A free breakfast, an indoor pool and a free airport shuttle, but $30-a-night parking with nothing on leaving the car, and dogs cost $100 a night. |
| Residence Inn Boston Logan Airport/Chelsea | 31 | A free hot breakfast, kitchenettes in all 128 rooms and a salt-water pool, but no shuttle of any kind; level with the Holiday Inn Express in Revere and behind it on the alphabet. |
| Boston Harbor Hotel | 31 | AAA Five Diamond and Forbes Five-Star on Rowes Wharf, with the water taxi to Logan and no resort fee, but no ride to the ship and $55 self-parking. It's one of our splurge picks. |
| InterContinental Boston | 31 | AAA Four Diamond on the harbor with a 45-foot lap pool and Spa InterContinental, about 1.3 miles from Boston Seaport by IHG's count, but valet only at $65 and nothing for cruisers. |
| Boston Marriott Long Wharf | 31 | AAA Four Diamond by the New England Aquarium, with an indoor pool and Waterline, but valet only at $73 and a parking offer that covers only the nights you stay. |
| The Langham, Boston | 31 | AAA Four Diamond in the former Federal Reserve Bank building, with a 40-foot indoor pool, but valet only at $75 and nothing for cruisers. |
| Rodeway Inn Logan International Airport | 29 | Stay-and-fly packages with 7, 14 or 21 days of parking at $279, $309 and $339, sold for flights, plus a $15 nightly airport surcharge, and Choice's page lists no breakfast, pool or restaurant. |
| DoubleTree by Hilton Boston Bayside | 28 | Hilton lists Flynn Cruiseport 2.50 miles away and a free Logan shuttle, but no Park, Stay & Go on its offers page, no pool listed and no free breakfast stated. |
Not ranked: Holiday Inn Express & Suites Boston Garden. At 280 Friend Street. Yelp lists it as closed, and hotel-listing sites now show Hotel Indigo Boston Garden by IHG at the same listing; we found no IHG page for either, so it isn't scored.; Hilton Boston Downtown/Faneuil Hall. Now The Dagny Boston, at 89 Broad Street, per hotel-listing sites; AAA lists The Dagny as Four Diamond since 2023. Hilton's old page still loads with thin data. We didn't research The Dagny, so it isn't scored.; Comfort Inn Boston, 900 Morrissey Boulevard. Choice's pages for it load with no hotel content, so we couldn't confirm it's open or score it. CruiseHive, a third party, describes a $299 package with parking and a shuttle.; Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel. Now Renaissance Boston Seaport District, at the same address with the same Marriott code, and in our twenty under that name.; Courtyard Boston Downtown/Tremont. The older name of the Courtyard by Marriott Boston Downtown at 275 Tremont Street; Booking.com's link still uses it. We scored it: 28.; Moxy Boston Seaport. We found no such hotel. Marriott's Boston Moxy is Moxy Boston Downtown on Tremont Street, which we scored: 28.; Canopy by Hilton Boston Seaport. We found no such hotel; Hilton's Boston Canopy is Canopy by Hilton Boston Downtown, on Blackstone Street, which we didn't research.; Hilton Garden Inn Boston Seaport. We found no such hotel; Hilton's Seaport hotels are the Hampton Inn and Homewood Suites at 670 Summer Street, both in our twenty.
Six of the twenty run a free Logan shuttle, all of them at or north of the airport, and none runs a ride to the ship. The Holiday Inn Express in South Boston charges $10 a person to Logan.
Norwegian puts Logan about 2 miles and 10 minutes from the terminal, and Holland America 2.8 miles, 45 to 60 minutes with traffic. The SL1 Silver Line is free from Logan, per the MBTA. The Getting There table shows what every hotel publishes.

On our scoring it's the Holiday Inn Express Boston, on Boston Street in South Boston: IHG lists a "Shuttle to BCEC & Cruise Terminal", fare by phone, with free breakfast and a Park and Fly package. Homewood Suites and Hyatt Place, in the Seaport, tie for second on 61; both say you can walk to the terminal, in 5 and about 10 minutes.
Boston has one cruise terminal: Flynn Cruiseport Boston, the old Black Falcon terminal, at 1 Black Falcon Avenue in the Seaport, run by Massport. Every line sails from it. For 2026, check-in and boarding are in "a large tent along the water" while Massport upgrades the terminal, per reprints of Massport's April 7 release.
From the Seaport, yes. Three of our twenty say so on their own pages: the Hampton Inn and Homewood Suites, which share a building at 670 Summer Street, put Flynn Cruiseport "a quick 5-minute walk" away, and Hilton lists the terminal at 0 miles for the Hampton; Hyatt Place says about 10 minutes. The other Seaport hotels are close too, but they don't give a walk or a distance, so we don't score one.
In the Seaport if you want to walk to the ship, and budget for it: most of the Seaport hotels charge $54 to $65 a night to park, and the Westin, the Omni and the Seaport Hotel add nightly fees of $25 to $40. By Logan if you're flying in late or driving: six of our twenty run a free airport shuttle, and most of the airport hotels sell parking with the room.
Two of our twenty print a rate, both north of Logan and sold as airport parking: the Holiday Inn Logan Chelsea from $10 a night in 4- or 8-day Park & Fly options, and the Four Points Revere at $25 a day after check-out. Seven more offer it without a price, most of them through Hilton's Park, Stay & Go, which names no port. At the terminal, Massport's Fargo Lot is prepaid on Parking.com with a free shuttle; third-party guides put the cruiseport lots at about $25 a day.
Six of our twenty run a free shuttle from BOS: Embassy Suites Logan, Hampton Inn Logan (Revere), Four Points Revere, Hilton Garden Inn Logan, Courtyard Logan and Hampton Inn Logan Chelsea. The SL1 Silver Line is free from Logan, per the MBTA, and a Boston cab runs on the meter; Holland America puts the taxi at about $40.
The cheapest way is the Silver Line: the SL1 is free from Logan, per the MBTA; change to the SL2 for Drydock Avenue, about a 10-minute walk from the terminal, per Princess. A cab runs on the meter; Holland America puts it at about $40 and 45 to 60 minutes with traffic, and Norwegian says about 10 minutes. Boston Water Taxi runs one boat a day to the cruiseport, at 11:45 AM as we read its page.
Norwegian Breakaway homeports in Boston from April 14 to November 8, 2026, per Massport's season release, and Norwegian says she returns from April 18, 2027. Celebrity Silhouette runs a fall season, and American Cruise Lines sails round trips from Boston. Massport counts 23 cruise brands and nine homeport ships for 2026; Norwegian Escape, MSC Meraviglia and Independence of the Seas stop in as port calls.
