Holiday Inn Resort Galveston - On The Beach

The one hotel here that spells out how cruisers do it: book the cruise package, and the shuttle for four and your car are handled. It just won't print the price.

Night-Before Score
The verdict

It ranks first, tied with The San Luis on 71 and placed ahead because it prints its guest-parking rate. IHG says cruisers must book a cruise package, and the package covers a shuttle for up to four and parking for one car while you're aboard.

It's on the beach, with a heated pool, a spa and The Jetty for dinner. Breakfast isn't included.

The catch is the number. IHG doesn't publish the package rate, the nights of parking or the shuttle times, and third-party sites describe the package three different ways.

Book the package by phone, and get the parking nights in writing.

Book it if

  • Drivers who want the car and the ride to the ship handled in one booking
  • Anyone who wants the beach and a real restaurant the night before
  • Families: IHG lists a kids-eat-free program

Look elsewhere if

  • You want the price in writing before you book.
  • You travel with a pet.
  • You want breakfast included.

The port’s own lots

No rate published

The port doesn’t publish a rate. Its reservation page says prices depend on the lot, covered or uncovered, and how close it is to your terminal, and shows a number only once you enter your ship and date. MSC’s own Galveston FAQ quotes the port’s surface lots at $23 a day and its covered garage at $28.

Lots open at 9 AM on most sailing days and take cards only. Some are a walk to the terminal; the economy lots run a free shuttle every 5 to 7 minutes. Compare every parking option.
