Neither pier will hold your car
Sydney does have cruise parking. It just isn’t where the ships are.
Both piers are drop-off points, not car parks, with a two-minute limit. Here’s what the Port Authority says about each.
No parking on cruise ship days
- The Port Authority’s page says there is no parking at the terminal on cruise ship days
- It names street parking nearby in Harrington, Cumberland, Argyle, Essex and Gloucester Streets. We didn’t read the time limits, so don’t count on a street for a week
- It also names Wilson garages at Quay West, Clocktower and 155 George Street
- Drop-off is on the lower roadway at Circular Quay West, two minutes at most
No long-term parking
- The terminal’s page lists a short-stay car park, 15 minutes at most, and no long-term parking
- On cruise days vehicles use James Craig Road and The Crescent only, not Robert Street or Grafton Street
- Wilson’s two White Bay garages are in Pyrmont and the CBD, which Wilson describes as a short taxi or ferry away
Six Wilson garages, from A$20 to A$51 a day
Wilson lists four garages for the Overseas Passenger Terminal and two for White Bay. All six are prepaid, at the daily rates Wilson prints.
| Garage | Address | Wilson lists it for | Rate, checked Oct 6, 2026 | Seven days, our arithmetic | Height limit | Condition |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sydney Opera House | 2a Macquarie St | Overseas Passenger Terminal | A$30 (about US$20) a day | A$210 (about US$145) | 2.2 m | — |
| The Domain | St Mary’s Road | Overseas Passenger Terminal | A$25 (about US$17) a day | A$175 (about US$120) | 1.9 m | — |
| Quay West | 111 Harrington St, The Rocks | Overseas Passenger Terminal | A$40 (about US$30) a day | A$280 (about US$195) | 2.0 m | — |
| Clocktower | 55 Harrington St, The Rocks | Overseas Passenger Terminal | A$51 (about US$35) a day | A$357 (about US$250) | 2.0 m | — |
| Harbourside | 100 Murray St, Pyrmont | White Bay | A$40 (about US$30) a day | A$280 (about US$195) | 2.0 m | Five-day minimum, limited availability |
| Darling Park | 201 Sussex St | White Bay | A$20 (about US$14) a day | A$140 (about US$100) | 2.1 m | — |
- Cruise parking runs 4 to 30 days. You prepay online or in Wilson’s app, up to three months ahead, and the advertised rates include transaction fees.
- Each prepaid transaction allows one entry and one exit.
- Wilson calls the White Bay garages a short taxi or ferry away. We read no mention of a shuttle, and no walking time from any garage to a pier. Two of the garages are on Harrington Street, which the Port Authority lists as near the terminal.
- Wilson doesn’t say how it counts a day, or what the overnight rules are.
- Quay West’s own page says prepaying online does not give a reserved or guaranteed space. It lists hours of 6:30 a.m. to 1 a.m. Monday to Thursday, 6:30 a.m. to 2 a.m. Friday, 7 a.m. to 2 a.m. Saturday, and 8 a.m. to midnight on Sundays and public holidays. Check the opening time against the morning you’re back.
Sources: Wilson Parking’s Sydney cruise parking page and its Quay West page, read October 6, 2026. Wilson’s page doesn’t name its currency, so we read the rates as Australian dollars. The seven-day column multiplies the printed daily rate by seven. It’s our arithmetic, not a Wilson quote. Price your own dates before you commit.
Dollar figures use the European Central Bank reference rates of Oct 6, 2026 (about 70 US cents to the Australian dollar); your card's rate will differ.
If the sums put you off
Skipping the car is easy at the Overseas Passenger Terminal — which sits beside Circular Quay’s transit. At White Bay, we couldn’t confirm any.
| Option | Where it works | What we confirmed |
|---|---|---|
| Train | Circular Quay station, about five to ten minutes on foot from the Overseas Passenger Terminal | Airport Link runs about every 10 minutes, 5 a.m. to midnight. Opal fares for 2026: not confirmed. |
| Light rail and ferry | L2 and L3 light rail to Circular Quay. A ferry wharf 450 m from the terminal | Fares not retrieved |
| Taxi | Ranks on George St near Playfair St, George St at Metcalfe Arcade, at the terminal and on Alfred St. At White Bay, a rank directly outside | Fixed airport fare to the CBD zone: A$60 (about US$40), a trial. Whether the terminals are inside it: not confirmed. |
| Rideshare | Pick-up and drop-off zones outside White Bay | Price not retrieved |
Match your trip to a garage
| Traveler | Likely fit | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Driving in for the week, sailing from the Overseas Passenger Terminal | A Wilson prepaid garage in The Rocks, or the Domain or Opera House garages | Wilson lists all four for this pier. Read the terms on guaranteed spaces first, and check the height limit. |
| Driving to White Bay | Harbourside or Darling Park, then a taxi or ferry | Wilson calls them a short taxi or ferry away. Harbourside has a five-day minimum and limited availability. |
| Flying in, or staying near Circular Quay | No car at all | The train, ferry and light rail meet at Circular Quay, and the terminal is a walk from them. |
| Being dropped off | The drop-off zone, two minutes | Stay with the car. The Port Authority posts the same two-minute limit at both piers. |
Staying the night before? None of the 28 hotels we checked publishes cruise parking, so the car still needs a garage for the sailing. Eight print a rate for the night itself, read October 6, 2026.
| Hotel | Overnight parking | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Sydney Harbour Marriott, Circular Quay | Valet only, A$110 (about US$75) a day as printed | Self-parking isn’t offered, per Marriott. |
| The Russell Boutique Hotel | Discounted Wilson parking at 155 George Street, a flat A$41 (about US$30) for 24 hours as printed | That garage is one the Port Authority names near the terminal. Wilson’s cruise page doesn’t list it, so this isn’t a cruise rate. |
| QT Sydney | Self-park through Wilson, Pitt Street, A$49 (about US$35) a night | Valet is A$89 (about US$60) a night. |
| Sheraton Grand Sydney Hyde Park | Self-parking A$65 (about US$45) a day | Valet A$95 (about US$65) a day. |
| Novotel Sydney on Darling Harbour | A 24-hour pass, A$65 (about US$45) | Secure and undercover, on site. |
| Adina Apartment Hotel Sydney Darling Harbour | On-site undercover, A$60 (about US$40) a night, or A$55 (about US$40) for day use | As the hotel prints it. |
| Crowne Plaza Sydney Darling Harbour | Self-parking A$65 (about US$45) a day | Entered from Druitt Lane, with a 2.1 m height limit. |
| ibis Sydney Darling Harbour | A$65 (about US$45) a day, shared with the Novotel next door | Per Accor. |

Before you prepay
Is there parking at the Sydney cruise terminals?
None at either. The Port Authority says there’s no parking at the Overseas Passenger Terminal on cruise ship days, and White Bay has only a 15-minute short-stay car park and a two-minute drop-off zone.
Wilson Parking sells prepaid cruise parking at six garages nearby, and that’s the real answer.
What does Wilson charge for Sydney cruise parking?
On the page we read on October 6, 2026: the Domain A$25 (about US$17) a day, Opera House A$30 (about US$20), Quay West A$40 (about US$30), Clocktower A$51 (about US$35), Harbourside A$40 (about US$30) and Darling Park A$20 (about US$14). Wilson says transaction fees are included.
Harbourside has a five-day minimum. Wilson sells cruise parking for 4 to 30 days, booked online or in its app up to three months ahead.
Wilson doesn’t say how it counts a day — so ask before you assume seven nights is seven days.
What does no parking on cruise ship days mean?
That’s the Port Authority’s wording for the Overseas Passenger Terminal. It describes days a ship is in, not other days, and your sailing is a cruise day at both ends.
Treat the terminal as a drop-off point, not a car park. Two minutes at most.
Does prepaid cruise parking guarantee a space?
Wilson’s Quay West page says prepaying online doesn’t give a reserved or guaranteed space. It doesn’t say whether that applies to the other five garages, or to cruise bookings specifically.
Read the booking terms before you pay, and ask Wilson in writing if a guaranteed space matters to you.
How do I get to the terminal without a car?
For the Overseas Passenger Terminal, use Circular Quay: train, light rail, ferry or taxi rank, then about five to ten minutes on foot. For White Bay, we confirmed a taxi rank directly outside and rideshare zones, and no rail or bus route.
From the airport, a fixed-fare taxi trial lists A$60 (about US$40) to the CBD zone. Whether the terminals are inside that zone: not confirmed.
