Belltown and the waterfront charge by the night, so the car has to earn its bed
Start with what the car does tomorrow morning. If the answer is “sit in a garage,” you’re paying for a night with no drive in it.
If tomorrow is just the ship, don’t give the car a night downtown. Valet runs about $52 to $66 at the hotels we read near the water, on top of the rental day, and the pier is under a mile from the 3rd Avenue desks. Return it before dinner, or never collect it.
Seattle’s downtown is compact enough to walk, and steep enough to regret it with luggage. That’s the case for a cab on sail morning, not a car.
The case for a car is a day trip the day before — Snoqualmie, Boeing or a mountain. The day trips have the drive times.
Even then, the car can go back that evening — if a desk is still open, and the hours below say which.
Ten downtown hotels and what each one charges a car
Every rate is per night and before tax unless the hotel said otherwise, and most of them are valet, not self-park.
| Hotel | Where | Parking |
|---|---|---|
| Edgewater Hotel | Pier 67, next to Pier 66 | Valet only: $66 overnight, $25 for the day, plus a $34 nightly amenities fee; no cruise package |
| Seattle Marriott Waterfront | Across from Pier 66 | Valet $60 a day; limited oversized $70 plus tax; no cruise parking stated |
| Hotel Andra | Belltown | Valet only, $65 plus tax overnight |
| Alexis Royal Sonesta | Downtown waterfront | Valet $62 plus tax a night, in and out |
| Mayflower Park | Downtown | Valet only, $55 plus tax a night, in and out; no long-term cruise parking — it points you to the terminal |
| Warwick Seattle | Belltown | Valet $52 a night plus tax |
| Homewood Suites Downtown | Lower Queen Anne, toward Pier 91 | Self-park $49 a day, covered, in and out |
| Hyatt House Downtown | 5th Ave N, by Seattle Center | On site $45 a night, off site $20, plus tax |
| Belltown Inn | Belltown | Self-park $35 plus tax a night, limited and not guaranteed; no long-term cruise parking |
| Palihotel Seattle | Pike Place | No on-site parking; $33 a day at the 3rd & Stewart garage nearby |
From each hotel’s own page, read Sept 26, 2026; the Warwick’s up-to-8-days park package from $290 a night is sold by a third party, StayParkTravel, and we couldn’t confirm it. Read Sept 26, 2026
The spread is narrower than the hotel prices suggest — valet near the water runs from the Warwick’s $52 to the Edgewater’s $66.
The Edgewater also lists a $34 nightly amenities fee — we couldn’t tell whether it belongs to the room or the car, so ask before you count it.
Self-parking is where the savings sit. The Homewood in Lower Queen Anne charges $49 covered, Hyatt House $45 on site or $20 off site, and the Belltown Inn $35 when a space is free.
The Homewood is also the one on this list that points toward Pier 91 — useful if your ship sails from Smith Cove.
None of these sells a cruise package we could confirm. The Mayflower Park says so outright and sends you to the terminal’s own parking.
One car, one valet night, one morning return: the sum
Two of you land at SEA, drive downtown, park one night at the hotel and return the car the next morning. Change the valet to your hotel’s.
The rental, line by line
A sketch with every box editable: the $52 base is Discover Cars’ SEA “from” rate on Oct 2, 2026, and Washington’s tax and SEA’s charges are in. Fuel covers about 17 miles, our rough figure for the facility to downtown and on to the pier; parking is the Marriott Waterfront’s $60 valet before tax, and a downtown return may count as a one-way.
Two of you, a $52 car from SEA and the Marriott’s $60 valet come to about $143 on our numbers. At the Edgewater’s $66 it’s about $149.
Link and a short cab do the same trip for about $11 — and nobody circles a garage ramp at 11 PM.
The car only closes that gap if it drove somewhere worth the money first.
Free on Sundays, $8 an hour by the water, and gone after 72 hours
City meters are fine for an evening, not for a cruise-length stay.
Seattle’s paid street parking runs Monday to Saturday with 2-, 4- or 10-hour limits, free on Sundays; since May 11, 2026 the waterfront core is $1 in the morning, $8 an hour in the afternoon and $5.50 in the evening.
That afternoon rate is the one that bites — two hours on a waterfront meter cost $16, within a dollar of Pike Place’s all-day early bird.
No car may sit on the same block of a city street for more than 72 hours, so the street is out for a cruise — not for a week, and not with a rental the company expects back.
A Sunday-night car on a free block is legal until the limit. Read the posted sign, since some blocks carry their own hours, and move it by morning.
The market garage: $40 a day, no multi-day pass
The one public garage downtown that published its own rates to us, with an entrance on Alaskan Way itself.
The Pike Place Market garage (entrances on Western Ave and at 1530 Alaskan Way) is $8 the first hour up to $40 for 10 to 24 hours, $17 early bird in before 9 AM and out by 9 PM, $10 after 5 PM; open 5 AM to 2 AM, 6 ft 8 in clearance, and it sells no multi-day cruise parking.
For a night before the ship, that $40 sits under every valet rate we read, and you keep the keys.
Rented a big van? Check its height against that 6 ft 8 in clearance before you queue at the gate.
Harbor Steps, Waterfront Place, West Edge and Century Square garages show up only on parking aggregators; we read no operator rates, so we can’t compare them.
Use the market garage for one night, then return the car before you board — it sells no cruise parking.
Return it tonight or tomorrow at seven
Downtown counters keep office hours, not cruise hours — a car back from a day trip at 6:45 PM on a weekday finds only Avis still open on our list.
| Downtown desk | Closes, weekdays | Closes, weekends | Opens |
|---|---|---|---|
| Avis, 1919 5th Ave | 7 PM | 7 PM | 7 AM daily |
| Enterprise, 1601 3rd Ave | 6 PM | 4 PM | 7:30 AM daily |
| Budget, 1919 5th Ave | 4 PM Mon–Wed, 5 PM Thu–Fri | 4 PM Sat · 2 PM Sun | 8 AM daily |
| Sixt, 1521 2nd Ave | 4 PM | 4 PM | 8 AM daily |
| Sixt, Hyatt Regency | 4 PM | 4 PM | 8 AM weekdays · 9 AM weekends |
From each company’s own location page, read Oct 2, 2026; Enterprise’s after-hours key drop is in the garage, Level A per Enterprise and Level B per Alamo and National. Checked Oct 2, 2026
Back from Rainier at 6:30 on a Saturday, you’ve missed Enterprise by two and a half hours. Avis still has thirty minutes.
The morning return is the other way to do it. Avis opens at 7 and Enterprise at 7:30, early enough for a morning boarding time — then a cab down to Alaskan Way.
Enterprise’s 3rd Avenue counter is about 0.9 miles from Pier 66 on our routing. For Pier 91, the Avis desk at KOMO Plaza is about 2.8 miles away; the hub’s cards list the rest.
Use a key drop only if your contract allows it. Avis and Budget both say you stay responsible for the car until the next business day.
Book the day trip, not the hotel night
If the car is for a day trip, book it for that day and return it before the desk shuts. The hotel night is cheaper without it.
If you’d rather keep it overnight, the Pike Place garage’s $40 undercuts every hotel valet we read. For the ride from SEA to your hotel, Link and the meter are priced on the decision page.
- Pick-up: downtown Seattle or SEA
- Return before 7 PM at Avis
- Taxes and fees shown before you pay
- Free cancellation up to 48 hrs before pickup
Parking a car in downtown Seattle before the ship
How much is hotel parking near the Seattle cruise terminal?
At the waterfront and Belltown hotels we read, valet runs $52 (Warwick) to $66 (Edgewater) a night, and the Marriott Waterfront across from Pier 66 charges $60. Self-park is cheaper at the Homewood ($49) and the Belltown Inn ($35), read Sept 26, 2026.
Can I leave a car on the street in Seattle during a cruise?
No. Seattle doesn’t allow a car to sit on the same block of a city street for more than 72 hours, so a week-long cruise is out.
Is street parking free in Seattle on Sundays?
Paid street parking runs Monday to Saturday, so Sunday is free, per the city, except near Seattle Center during large events. Time limits of 2, 4 or 10 hours apply on paid days, and the 72-hour rule applies every day.
How much is the Pike Place Market garage overnight?
Up to $40 for 10 to 24 hours, $8 for the first hour, $17 early bird and $10 after 5 PM, per the market. It’s open 5 AM to 2 AM with 6 ft 8 in clearance, and it sells no multi-day cruise parking.
What time do downtown Seattle car rental offices close?
Avis on 5th Avenue closes at 7 PM daily. Enterprise at 3rd and Stewart closes at 6 on weekdays and 4 on weekends, Sixt at 4, and Budget between 2 and 5 depending on the day.
Do Seattle hotels offer park-and-cruise packages?
Not that we could confirm. The Mayflower Park says it has no long-term cruise parking, and the Warwick’s package from $290 a night is sold by a third party, StayParkTravel, which we couldn’t verify.
