The ss Rotterdam comes first, and the car park is the reason. Cruise Port Rotterdam's official long-stay lot is the one in front of the ship: €19 (about US$20) per 24 hours, paid at the hotel's reception when you're back, with a free shuttle to Cruise Terminal Rotterdam for boarding passengers.
No other hotel in our twenty can say that, and it's worth 30 points on our scale — parking and a ride, not luxury. The shuttle is the port's, though, and its page sits under parking, so a guest arriving by train should ask the desk whether it can ride too.
Read the price fine print. The hotel's own FAQ prints €22 (about US$25) for a 24-hour ticket on the same lot, the port says €19 for cruise passengers, and MSC's older page says €13 (about US$15). We go by the port, which runs it.
Breakfast is a buffet from 6:30 on weekdays, priced nowhere we could see. Book it if you're driving in, and ask for the cruise rate in writing when you check in.
Book it if
- You're driving and want the port's own lot at the door
- You'd like to sleep aboard a retired ocean liner
- You want the water taxi from the pontoon
Look elsewhere if
- Your dog is travelling with you.
- You need the room-only breakfast price up front.
- You'd rather walk to the ship than take a shuttle.
