Most people fly into Schiphol, and the train is the easy part. The Intercity direct reaches Rotterdam Centraal in 26 minutes, per NS, and metro D or E takes you on to Wilhelminaplein, four minutes on foot from the terminal. The smaller Rotterdam The Hague Airport is closer — about 6.5 road miles. A “Rotterdam (Amsterdam)” cruise still leaves from Rotterdam.

Fly into Schiphol and take the train. The Intercity direct runs from beneath Schiphol Plaza to Rotterdam Centraal in 26 minutes, per NS, on a normal day, with a €3.20 (about US$4) supplement on top of the fare. From Centraal, metro D or E reaches Wilhelminaplein — about four minutes on foot from Cruise Terminal Rotterdam, per Holland America.
NS schedules track works some weekends and nights, so check its planner for your travel date and the day before. If the direct train is cancelled, a slower train or a booked transfer is the backup.
Entry rules for US passports (the EU’s EES now, ETIAS when it starts) apply at Schiphol; check travel-europe.europa.eu for the current status. Your cruise line’s documents list what you need.
By road, Schiphol is about 39.3 miles (63.2 km) from the terminal by our routing, roughly 56 minutes with no traffic. Holland America puts a taxi at about €95 (about US$105), and two transfer sites quoted €123 to €138 (about US$140–155) for a booked sedan.
Rotterdam The Hague Airport is the near one, about 6.5 road miles away, with bus 33 and metro E into town. It suits a flight from elsewhere in Europe more than a long-haul arrival.
First, read the port on your booking. “Rotterdam (Amsterdam)” means Rotterdam, and a sailing that says Amsterdam leaves from a different terminal, about 40 miles north.

Schiphol sits south-west of Amsterdam, about 40 miles up the motorway and the rail line from Rotterdam. Rotterdam The Hague Airport is on the city’s northern edge, and the terminal is on the Wilhelminapier, across the Erasmus Bridge from the centre.
Brussels Airport is about 85.7 road miles (138.0 km) and 1 hr 42 min from the terminal by our routing. No line or port page we read points you there, and we didn’t verify a train, so treat it as a fallback.

City Airport Taxis quoted €135.79 (about US$150) for a three-seat sedan with meet-and-greet and an hour’s wait, and €123 for a premium sedan; AirportsTaxiTransfers quoted €137.50 (about US$155) the other way. The national meter maximum for a car is €4.31 (about US$5) to start, €3.17 (about US$4) a km and €0.52 (about US$0.58) a minute. Five rental brands share Schiphol Plaza’s Car Rental and Service Desk: Avis Budget, Enterprise, Europcar, Hertz and Sixt. Discover Cars showed rentals at Schiphol from US$28.78 a day on October 3, 2026, a price that moves daily. Rotterdam has no low-emission zone for passenger cars, per the national low-emission-zone scheme.

The check-in time on your cruise documents is the one to plan around. We found no published check-in window for Cruise Terminal Rotterdam, and Holland America says there’s no luggage storage at the pier.

The train is what makes Schiphol work for Rotterdam. The Intercity direct runs from the station under Schiphol Plaza to Rotterdam Centraal in 26 minutes, per NS, on a normal day. NS schedules track works on some weekends and nights, so check its planner for your date and the day before. NS’s 2026 price list adds a €3.20 supplement for that stretch, and €1.60 (about US$2) more if you buy a single-use card instead of tapping a bank card.
From Centraal, metro D or E runs via Stadhuis, Beurs and Leuvehaven to Wilhelminaplein, and trams 3 and 5 take the same line on the street. Those trams were numbered 23 and 25 until January 2025, so older guides are out of date. Works at Hofplein divert trams until November 22, 2026, per RET — check the app, not the guidebook.
RET takes contactless bank cards and phones at the gates. Its Tourist Day Ticket covers buses, trams, metro and the waterbus across Zuid-Holland; RET’s ticket page prices it at €17.00 (about US$19) (October 2026). An older RET airport page still shows €14.50 (about US$16), so pay what the gate or app shows.
By road, Centraal is about 2.3 miles from the terminal by our routing, roughly 7 minutes with no traffic. Taxis follow the national maximum tariff, and a fixed price is allowed only if you agree it before the ride starts.

Rotterdam The Hague Airport (RTM), about 6.5 road miles (10.5 km) and 18 minutes from Cruise Terminal Rotterdam by our routing, with no traffic. Schiphol (AMS) has far more flights and is about 39.3 miles away; Holland America says about 40 miles (65 km) and 60 minutes.
Take the Intercity direct from Schiphol Airport to Rotterdam Centraal, 26 minutes per NS on a normal day (check its planner for track works), with a €3.20 supplement on that stretch in NS's 2026 price list. A single-use card adds €1.60. From Centraal, metro D or E, or tram 3 or 5, runs to Wilhelminaplein, which Holland America puts four minutes on foot from the terminal.

Yes, for its own guests, booked through your advisor or the line with flight details 14 days ahead. Its page doesn't show the price. Going home, its "Easy Rotterdam with Airport Transfer" tour ends at Schiphol and suits only flights leaving after 3 pm.
No. MSC lists "Cruises from / to Rotterdam (Amsterdam)" and markets Amsterdam "via Rotterdam", but the ship leaves from Cruise Terminal Rotterdam on the Wilhelminapier. Amsterdam has its own cruise terminal and its own lines; check which port your booking names.
RET bus 33 runs from the airport to Meijersplein, where metro E continues to Rotterdam Centraal and on to Wilhelminaplein. The airport says the trip into the city takes about 30 minutes. Taxis wait beside the terminal building; the airport prints a booking number, +31 10 262 04 06, but no fares.
Not per Holland America, which says there's none at the pier. Bounce, a booking platform, listed nine Rotterdam storage spots from €3.50 (about US$4) a day on October 3, 2026, one about seven minutes from Centraal.

Holland America says Uber and Bolt both operate in the area, and Schiphol has a separate app pick-up point for them. Neither publishes a fixed fare for the trip.
