The verdict

The Four Seasons carries the top marks in town from both guides we use. It's the city's only Forbes Four-Star hotel on Forbes's Seattle page and AAA Four Diamond, with an outdoor infinity pool heated to 84°F year-round over Elliott Bay.

The spa is Forbes Four-Star too, check-out is noon, and Goldfinch Tavern does dinner.

No distance to either pier and no cruise shuttle — the morning is yours to arrange. The free house car runs within a mile, first come, first served, and by our road estimate Pier 66 is about 0.8 miles away, inside that radius, though the hotel doesn't say it covers the pier. Valet is $75 a night.

Ask the concierge whether the house car will take you to Pier 66, and book a cab for Pier 91, about 3.5 miles by road on our estimate.

  • You travel with a dog over 25 lb.
  • You want the cruise logistics handled.
What You Get

What you’re paying for, and what you’re not

At the Four Seasons the money buys the pool and the ratings — not the morning, which you still arrange. Green is on offer, gold comes with a cost or a catch, grey isn’t there or isn’t stated.

Heading out
To the terminal

Four Seasons gives no distance to either pier. The hotel is across the street from the Seattle Art Museum and a block from Pike Place Market, in its words. Our road estimate is about 0.8 miles to Pier 66 and 3.5 miles to Pier 91 — empty-road figures, so pad them for traffic. Allow more than our estimate of 14 minutes from Four Seasons Seattle to Pier 91 — that figure assumes empty roads.
