Hotel Albatros
The hotel across the avenue from the pier, with a restaurant, a spa included in every rate and free parking.
Pre-Cruise Hotels · Ushuaia
Eleven hotels for the night before an Antarctic voyage, scored on what they publish, not on reviews. The waterfront is a walk from the pier gate; the hills are a ride. Of the hotel and brand sites we could read, only the Wyndham says breakfast is in the rate.
Three taps and we’ll show your three picks.
Change any answer and the picks change with it. They’re built from the same published facts as the ranking below. No hotel pays for a place here. Booking.com links earn us a commission, and they don’t change the order.
Matching weighs your answers against each hotel’s published shuttle, parking, breakfast, pool, kitchen and pet policies.
Five answers, and the page builds the whole thing: the hotel, the ride in, the ride to the ship, what happens to the car, what time to leave, and how you get home. Every figure is one the hotel, the port or the company publishes, or a straight-line distance between our own map pins. Where nobody publishes a number, you’ll see that instead of a guess.
There’s no cruise parking to price here, so the plan assumes you fly in.
Who’s coming and the mood come from Your Match; the plan uses the same answers.
There are no partner links inside this planner. It’s built only from what the airport, the town’s tourism office, the lines and each hotel or its named listing publish.
Albatros wins: opposite the pier gate, with a restaurant and a spa included in every rate, on its own site. Canal Beagle, Lennox and Cilene del Faro tie on 30, on distance alone, not on their listings — their pools, breakfasts and restaurants come from those listings, which don’t score. Canal Beagle and Albatros both sit about 50 m from the pier gate by our map, and Oceanwide places Albatros directly opposite the entrance.
Narrow the eleven by what your night needs. Save the ones you like. Tick up to three to compare side by side — the order is ours, the shortlist is yours.
Why eleven? We checked twelve and left one out — it’s at the bottom of the page.

Pick how you’re arriving. The board counts what each hotel publishes, the table lights up that column, and the cards below are the rides from the airport.
There’s no public transport from the airport, per Turismo Ushuaia — though per their listings Cilene del Faro arranges transfers on request. Lennox has a shuttle for a surcharge, and Los Cauquenes runs a priced van.
Ushuaia Airport · about 5 km from the city, per Turismo Ushuaia; no public bus
Metered taxis, per Turismo Ushuaia. Some lines include the airport transfer (Quark does airport to hotel), so check first.
Booked by phone at a fixed fare, per Turismo Ushuaia. No fares are published.
Quark includes airport to hotel; HX includes the Buenos Aires flight, and Lindblad recommends a group flight with airport transfers. Oceanwide moves bags, not you.
Driving? No cruise parking is published, though several hotels list free parking for your stay, so see the parking note below.

| Shuttle not stated | Cruise parking unconfirmed | Not stated | |
Ushuaia Malvinas Argentinas International Airport (USH)The hotel lists a shuttle to the center but no airport ride — take a taxi, a remis or your line’s transfer. To the shipNo ride to the ship is listed, but the hotel runs a shuttle to the city center on a published timetable, and Quark collects bags from the lobby when it books you here. The pier gate itself is about 2.4 km away in a straight line. | |||
| Shuttle not stated | Cruise parking unconfirmed | Not stated | |
Ushuaia Malvinas Argentinas International Airport (USH)No airport ride is listed — take a taxi, a remis or your line’s transfer. To the shipBooking.com mentions a shuttle service without saying where it goes, and it puts the harbor 3 km away — so ask the hotel where the shuttle stops, or book your line’s transfer or a taxi. | |||
| Shuttle not stated | Cruise parking unconfirmed | Hotel van, US$15 pp | |
Ushuaia Malvinas Argentinas International Airport (USH)The hotel van runs airport transfers at US$15 per person each way, or US$200 private, per Michelin. Michelin puts the airport about 4 km and 10 minutes away; our map pin reads farther, so treat Michelin’s figure as the better one. To the shipThe hotel lists no ride to the pier. Michelin puts the resort about 7 km, roughly 15 minutes, from Ushuaia, and a Booking.com partner listing mentions a free minibus to the center at set times — for the pier itself, use your line’s transfer or a taxi. | |||
Every distance ends at the pier gate on Av. Maipú, and every one is a straight line between our own map pins, most of them estimated from the street address. CNN Español puts the terminal’s pier at 550 m long, and where a ship berths along it is for your line to say. The hill roads wind too — treat these as a rough guide.
Walking times assume an easy pace on streets about a third longer than the straight line. From the hills, take your line’s transfer or a taxi — not a walk with expedition bags.
Five things make a night before easy or hard, and in Ushuaia distance does most of the work, because the waterfront hotels sit at the gate and the resorts sit up the hill. Points come only from the hotel’s own site or its brand’s. Where we couldn’t read the hotel’s own site, we show what Booking.com, Frommer’s, Michelin, Great Small Hotels or Friendly Planet say, attributed, and it scores zero.
Silence scores zero, not a guess. Booking sites and other listings don’t count toward the score, even where we show what they say — and a walking time to “the harbor” isn’t a walking time to the pier.
By band, from the pier gate: the waterfront center, to about 600 m in a straight line, 30; the edge of the center, to about 1.3 km, 24; the hills, 12; out of town, 6. Arakur and Los Cauquenes are banded by the hotel’s or Michelin’s own drive times, not the straight line.
A transfer the hotel runs or arranges, with a published price, 25. A ride only inside a package 20. The hotel’s own ride with no published fare 15. A walk the hotel itself prints at half a mile or less 15. No hotel whose own site we could read publishes its own ride to the ship, so none scores here — and Quark collecting bags from three lobbies is the line’s arrangement, not the hotel’s, so it doesn’t score.
A published rate to leave the car at the hotel while you cruise 20; offered, but unpriced or not guaranteed, 14. Day rates in a public garage don’t count. No hotel scores here either — several list free parking for the stay, but none of the ones we checked says it covers the voyage.
A breakfast the hotel says is included scores 10. Of the hotel sites we could read, only Wyndham says breakfast is free — Lennox’s Frommer’s listing calls the buffet complimentary, but a listing doesn’t score. The other hotels either don’t say, or we couldn’t read their own site.
Pool 3, food or a bar on site 3, a kitchen in the room 3, a sauna or spa 3, a gym 3. Arakur is the only hotel whose own site we read that shows a pool. A spa or a gym that charges extra still counts, because it’s there. The pools at Canal Beagle, Cilene del Faro, Las Hayas and Los Cauquenes come from listings, so they don’t.
Ties are broken in order: any published parking for your cruise, any stated ride to the ship, free breakfast, then the shorter straight-line distance to the pier gate. Canal Beagle, Lennox and Cilene del Faro all score 30 and fall in that order of distance from the pier gate: about 50 m, 250 m and 300 m. Fueguino beats Arakur on 24 the same way, about 800 m against 3.8 km.
What’s left out is deliberate. Room rates move by the day, so they aren’t scored, and review scores neither. Distances are straight lines between our own map pins, not routed walks or drives, and we say so wherever they appear.
No hotel we checked publishes parking for the voyage — if you’re driving anyway, ask the hotel and your line before you plan on it.
Why there’s no calculator. No cruise parking is published for the port, so there’s no rate to feed one.
What to plan instead. The bags, not the car: Quark collects them from the hotel lobby, and Oceanwide moves them from a pick-up point. Albatros stores bags outside its check-in hours, per the hotel, and Las Lengas lists bag storage.
We checked twelve and ranked eleven. The one we left out:
| Hotel | Why it isn’t ranked |
|---|---|
| Hotel Mil810 | We couldn’t confirm its own site — so we left it out rather than score it on guesswork. |
Ushuaia’s airport is about 5 km from the city, per Turismo Ushuaia, and there’s no public bus. Take a taxi, a remis or your line’s transfer.
Coming in on your line’s package? Check whether the hotel night and the transfer are already in it — Quark builds both in. The Getting There table shows what each hotel publishes, and the airport page has the landing check.
Tours, tickets and things to do are on Booking.com. Book the day before, not sail day.

On our scoring, Hotel Albatros: opposite the pier gate, with the Prana restaurant and a spa included in every rate, per the hotel. Breakfast inclusion isn’t stated.
Two hotels sit about 50 m from the pier gate on Av. Maipú by our map, Hotel Canal Beagle and Hotel Albatros. Oceanwide names Albatros as the landmark opposite the entrance, and our pins are mostly estimated from street addresses, so treat the 50 m as rough.
From the waterfront hotels, to the gate, yes; show your boarding pass there, per Oceanwide. Where your ship berths is for your line to confirm, and lines like Quark bus you from a meeting point. From the hills, take a ride.
Quark says it books Las Lengas, Los Acebos and Albatros most often, without guaranteeing a property, and collects bags from the lobby on embarkation morning.
Of the hotel sites we could read, only Wyndham Garden del Glaciar says so, on its brand’s page. Lennox’s Frommer’s listing calls its buffet complimentary, unconfirmed by the hotel. The rest either don’t say, or we couldn’t read their own site.
Los Acebos says it’s 2.5 km from the center, Booking.com puts Las Hayas 3 km from the harbor, and Arakur says about 12 minutes. Los Cauquenes is about 7 km out, per Michelin.
