Pre-Cruise Hotels · Vancouver
Twenty hotels for a cruise from Vancouver, downtown and by the airport, scored on what gets you to the ship, not on reviews. Pick yours, and let the trip start the night before.
Three taps and we’ll show your best three hotels.
Change any answer and the picks change with it. They’re built from the same published facts as the ranking below. Nobody pays to be here.
Matching weighs your answers against each hotel’s published shuttle, parking, breakfast, pool, beach, kitchen and pet policies.
Five answers, and the page builds the whole thing: the hotel, the ride in, the ride to the ship, what happens to the car, what time to leave, and how you get home. Every figure is one the hotel, the port or the company publishes. Where nobody publishes a number, you’ll see that instead of a guess.
Who’s coming and the mood come from Your Match; the plan uses the same answers.
Partner links (transfers, rental cars, luggage storage, lounges) may earn Seabound Journeys a commission at no extra cost to you. They don't change the plan, which is built only from what each company publishes.
Two at Canada Place itself, and one half a mile away by its own count, not ours. The Fairmont Waterfront carries your bags over in its cruise package, Pan Pacific has an elevator down to the terminal, and the Hyatt Regency is 0.52 miles away by its own count.
Filter by what matters for your night. Save the ones you like, or tick up to three to compare side by side — the order is ours, the shortlist is yours.

These twenty are ranked for an easy sail morning, not for the room. Vancouver is the rare port where the best rooms sit by the ship: the Fairmont Waterfront, Pan Pacific and Fairmont Pacific Rim, the one Forbes Five-Star on Forbes’s Vancouver page, all make our top twenty. Three more are a short cab up the hill.
Vancouver has one cruise terminal, Canada Place, on the downtown waterfront — so the bands measure from there: Canada Place itself, the Coal Harbour and waterfront blocks, the rest of downtown, the West End, and Richmond by the airport.
Three of the twenty are at Canada Place, seven in the waterfront blocks, six further into downtown and four in Richmond by YVR.
Numbers are the ranking. Each pin sits where the hotel is — the bands group them by distance, the way we score it.
Five things decide how easy the night before is, and each one is scored only from what the hotel publishes on its own site or its brand’s.
If a hotel doesn't say it, it scores zero there — not a guess, zero. Travel sites, tourism listings and review sites don't count, and when a hotel’s own pages contradict each other, we score the claim as unconfirmed and tell you. Each page lists exactly what we couldn't confirm.
By band, from Canada Place: at Canada Place 30; Coal Harbour and the waterfront blocks 25; the rest of downtown 20; the West End 15; Richmond by YVR 10.
Hotel-run shuttle, free or with a published price, 25. A ride only inside a package or offer 20. The hotel’s own ride with no published fare 15. The hotel says you can walk: across the street, a few blocks, or half a mile or less, 15. A ride the hotel arranges through someone else, or a shuttle company it names, 10. A shuttle that doesn’t name the terminal doesn’t count.
Published rate to leave the car 20, including a package with a published price. Offered, price unpublished 14.
Sail mornings start early. A free breakfast on site scores 10, including one inside a mandatory nightly fee.
On the beach 6, pool 3, food or a bar on site 3, a kitchen in the room 3. None of the twenty is on a beach.
Ties are broken in order: the lower published parking rate, any stated way to the ship, free breakfast, parking on site, the closer stated mileage, the lower guest parking price, then the alphabet. That’s why, on 46, the Hyatt Regency (a stated distance) sits above the Marriott Pinnacle (a published parking rate), then Coast Coal Harbour and Pinnacle Harbourfront (the alphabet). The Residence Inn sits above Fairmont Pacific Rim on 36 and the Hampton Inn above the Airport Marriott on 30 (free breakfast), Accent Inns above the Radisson Blu on 27 (free parking for your stay), the Blue Horizon above the Holiday Inn on 26 (the lower parking rate), and the Georgian Court above Hotel Belmont on 23 (a published parking rate).
What's left out is deliberate. Room rates change daily — so they aren't scored. Neither are guest-review scores — they measure a stay in general, not a sail morning.
The ranking tells you which hotel makes the morning easiest. Your dates and your budget decide the rest, so price your own night before you book the winner.
No hotel on our list prints a fixed rate to leave the car while you cruise — the Fairmont Waterfront offers weekly parking on request, and four by YVR offer it too. The one priced option is the airport’s own Value Long Term lot, so set your cruise length.
| YVR Value Long Term lot, C$31 a day, C$165 a week | — |
YVR’s own Value Long Term rates, C$31 a day and C$165 a week before a pre-book discount it doesn’t print, counting the day you park and the day you leave. We charge whole weeks at the weekly rate and extra days at the daily rate, never more than another week; YVR doesn’t say how it combines them, so check your pre-book quote. Its free train runs to the terminal up to every 6 minutes from 5:10 AM to 12:56 AM, with a shuttle every 20 minutes outside those hours. Canada Place’s garage is run by Indigo, which listed C$74.50 a day at the pay station on Sept 26, 2026 (its pages wouldn’t load for us on Oct 2) — a daily rate, not a cruise price, so it isn’t in the table.
For the options in town, see Vancouver cruise parking, compared.
We checked 40 hotels downtown, in the West End and by YVR. These came closest, with their scores and the reason each fell short. Pan Pacific, the Fairmont Waterfront and Fairmont Pacific Rim are also on the splurge list, with the Rosewood Hotel Georgia, the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver and JW Marriott Parq.
| Hotel | Score | Why it missed |
|---|---|---|
| Hampton Inn by Hilton Vancouver-Airport/Richmond | 20 | A free 24-hour airport shuttle, free hot breakfast and free covered parking, but nothing about leaving the car while you cruise. |
| Holiday Inn Express Vancouver Airport-Richmond | 20 | A free airport shuttle from 3:45 AM to 1 AM and a free breakfast, level with the Hampton and behind it on guest parking, C$15 a day. |
| Best Western Plus Sands | 18 | By English Bay in the West End, with a pub that serves breakfast, but no distance to the ship or parking published. |
| Fairmont Vancouver Airport | 16 | Inside YVR itself and AAA Four Diamond, with a pool and Globe @ YVR, but nothing for cruisers and no parking terms on its page. |
| Hilton Vancouver Airport | 16 | A free airport shuttle at :10 and :40, an outdoor pool and CAVU Kitchen Bar, but breakfast is paid. |
| The Westin Wall Centre, Vancouver Airport | 16 | An indoor pool and the apron restaurant, with a shuttle by reservation, but nothing for cruisers. |
Not ranked: Samesun Vancouver. A hostel with free breakfast on Granville Street; we rank hotels.; Sandman Signature Vancouver Downtown. Its site gave us no street address or parking rate, so we couldn't place it.; Sandman Vancouver Airport. Its page lists a free airport shuttle and long-term parking rates, but gave us no address and no prices.; Moda Hotel. Its site wouldn't load for us, so nothing on it is verified.; The Victorian. Its site didn't give us an address, so we couldn't place it.; Four Points by Sheraton Vancouver Airport. Its Marriott page returned an error when we checked.; Travelodge Vancouver Airport. We couldn't find the hotel's own site; everything we found was third-party.
Four of the twenty run a free airport shuttle, all by YVR in Richmond. Downtown none does — the Canada Line is the ride in, not a hotel van.
Holland America puts YVR 9 miles and about 30 minutes from Canada Place. The Canada Line runs to Waterfront Station, next to the terminal, in under 30 minutes, and a taxi is C$46 flat on YVR’s zone map. The Getting There table shows what every hotel publishes.

On our scoring it's the Fairmont Waterfront — "just steps" from the terminal, with a cruise package that carries your bags over and weekly parking for cruise guests on request. Pan Pacific, part of the terminal building with an elevator down to it, is second, and the Hyatt Regency, 0.52 miles away by its own count, with an outdoor pool, third.
Vancouver has one cruise terminal, Canada Place, at 999 Canada Place on the downtown waterfront, next to Waterfront Station, per the port. The port's 2026 list has 29 lines, with Disney homeporting two ships; your cruise documents confirm yours.
Six of our twenty say so — Pan Pacific (a direct elevator down to the terminal), the Fairmont Waterfront ("just steps"), the Hyatt Regency (0.52 miles), the Marriott Pinnacle and Pinnacle Harbourfront ("steps from Canada Place") and Coast Coal Harbour ("a 10-minute walk"). Fairmont Pacific Rim is on Canada Place too, but doesn't describe the walk, so we don't count it — our road estimate is about 0.7 miles.
Downtown if you can: the terminal is on the downtown waterfront, and six of our twenty say you can walk to it. By YVR suits a late landing or a car you want to leave — about 8 to 10 miles from the ship by road, our estimate: the Abercorn, the Airport Marriott, Accent Inns and the Radisson Blu all run free airport shuttles and offer parking for the cruise, though none prints a fixed rate.
Downtown, the Fairmont Waterfront offers weekly self-parking to cruise guests on request. Four by YVR offer parking for the cruise too: the Abercorn's extended parking, the Airport Marriott's Park Here, Fly There (up to 21 nights), Accent Inns' long-term parking by reservation and the Radisson Blu's 7- and 14-day Park and Fly, displayed at C$494 and C$599 on Oct 2 but labelled "per night". None prints a rate you can take as a quote. YVR's Value Long Term lot is C$31 a day or C$165 a week (checked Oct 2, 2026). Indigo, which runs the Canada Place garage, listed C$74.50 a day at the pay station on Sept 26 — unconfirmed since, so ask it to price your dates.
Four of our twenty run a free shuttle from YVR: Abercorn Hotel, Airport Marriott, Accent Inns Airport and Radisson Blu Airport. All are in Richmond by the airport, and none runs a ride to the ship. None of the downtown hotels runs an airport shuttle; the Canada Line to Waterfront Station is the ride in.
The Canada Line runs to Waterfront Station, next to the terminal, in under 30 minutes, per YVR; after 6:30 PM on weekdays and all weekend it's C$10 a person with TransLink's C$6.50 airport AddFare. A taxi is C$46 flat on YVR's zone map, and the port lists C$42 flat for the ride back. planDisney panelists quoted Disney's transfer at US$28 a guest in 2026, and other lines sell theirs by phone or at booking.
The port's 2026 list has 29 — among them Disney, which homeports two ships, Holland America, Princess, Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, Norwegian, Viking and Virgin Voyages. Carnival isn't on it. Your cruise documents confirm your terminal.
You meet US officers at the terminal before an Alaska sailing — CBP calls it pre-inspection, an admissibility check, not full preclearance. The port says facial biometrics have cut the average transaction to under 10 seconds; your cruise line's documents say what to bring.
Hotel rates move every day and spike on busy sailing days, so any number we printed would be wrong by the time you read it. We rank on what doesn't change daily, like shuttles, parking policies and breakfast — your date's rate belongs to the booking site, not to us.
