Silversea Expeditions: the butler comes too

Four ships, a hotel at the bottom of Chile and a fare that folds in the drinks, the tips and every landing. What it doesn’t fold in is a printed price — so you start with a quote, not a brochure.

The short answer

Silversea is the expedition line for travelers who want a luxury ship first and a landing second. Every suite has a butler, the bar is open, and on expedition voyages the landings, guided tours and gear sit in the fare.

Its Antarctica program is the most built-out piece. From 2026 it runs through Puerto Williams, with a two-hour flight to King George Island and Silversea’s own hotel at the gateway. Silver Origin is a Galápagos-only ship, and Silver Cloud carries the Kimberley.

The catch is transparency on price. Silversea’s voyage pages show no fare, and international flights are an add-on. Get the quote in writing, then compare it with a line that prints its numbers.

01
Fly it or sail it

Antarctica starts with one decision about the Drake

Through March 2027, Silversea runs 40 Antarctica voyages on three ships. Here’s how they split, and how the gateway got here.

Fly the Drake

Silver Endeavour, from King George Island

A charter from Puerto Williams lands on King George Island in about two hours, per Silversea. Most sailings are six nights, round trip. Fourteen voyages in 2026–27 fly both ways.

or
Sail the Drake

Silver Wind and Silver Cloud, from Puerto Williams

Sea days on the Drake, and the reach that comes with them: the Falklands, South Georgia, Elephant Island and, on one December voyage, the Antarctic Circle. Eleven voyages sail both ways.

Nov 2022Debut

Silver Endeavour arrives

The former Crystal Endeavor opens its first Antarctic season for Silversea, replacing the smaller Silver Explorer.

2025–26Punta Arenas

38 voyages

Three ships, 20 Drake crossings and 18 fly cruises, with flights from Punta Arenas while the new hotel ran late.

43 sailings

Silversea’s 2027–28 collection lists 43 Antarctica sailings, 32 of them fly-cruise options.

On sale since Oct 2025

If you’ve read about Silversea’s “Antarctica Bridge” from Punta Arenas, that’s the older version. Silversea’s fly-cruise page lists Punta Arenas for 2025 voyages and Puerto Williams from 2026, and the current pages we read don’t use the Bridge name.

The flight is short — about two hours to King George Island, on Antarctic Airways (DAP) jets, per Silversea’s own blog.

Flying buys you time on the ice. Sailing buys you South Georgia.

The six-night fly cruises suit a first trip on a tight calendar. The longer sea crossings are the only way to reach the Falklands and South Georgia on this fleet. Read our Antarctica guide and landing sites before you choose.

Where the four ships go

The Silversea year, month by month

Dark cells are the core of each season; pale cells are the edges. Where Silversea’s pages didn’t show us a month, we say so.

The polar pair, Endeavour and Wind, swing between Antarctica and the Arctic. Silver Cloud does something odder: Antarctica in the austral summer, then the Kimberley, then a long Pacific crossing — its 2026 Grand South Pacific ran 77 days from Fremantle to Valparaíso.

Silver Origin never leaves the Galápagos. The Galápagos guide and our visitor sites page cover what its loops reach.

There’s more beyond this grid — Northern Europe and the British Isles in 2026–27, and Mediterranean expeditions on Silver Wind and a Baltic program on Endeavour in 2028–29. For the ice, start with our Arctic, Greenland, polar bear and Kimberley guides. Pick the region first, not the ship — then ask us which ship has your month.

All-inclusive, read line by line

What the fare folds in, and the one thing it doesn’t

Silversea separates its expedition and classic voyages. Bold means it’s in the expedition fare.

Every row comes from Silversea’s All-Inclusive and All-Inclusive Plus fare pages. On expedition voyages, Silversea sells All-Inclusive Plus, with a fully refundable deposit, and Last-Minute fares on select sailings.

The international flight is the gap. Silversea sells it as a Flight Package by phone, after the cruise is booked.

Door-to-Door, briefly. In March 2024 Silversea split its pricing into Door-to-Door and Port-to-Port fares; Door-to-Door covered flights and private executive transfers from home, per TravelPulse. Silversea replaced both with All-Inclusive Plus, All-Inclusive and Last-Minute fares on September 11, 2025, per Cruise Industry News.

The Antarctica Fly Cruise page still mentions complimentary private executive transfers to and from your home. Ask us which fare carries them on your date — a name that changed is a reason to check, not to assume.

The true-cost calculator

Bring your quote, we’ll add the rest

Price a Silversea expedition

Pick a voyage, type the fare Silversea quotes you, then tick what you’ll add. Published prices are filled in; the rest are yours to enter.

Silversea doesn’t show fares on the voyage pages we read on November 1, 2026, so the fare starts at $0 for you to fill. Land-program prices are Silversea’s published “from” prices per guest. Silversea runs frequent offers; your quote governs.

Count the rows marked “not published”. The flight package is the big one on every voyage, and Silversea prices it only after you book.

Ask for that number with the fare, in the same email.

05
What Silversea does publish

The land programs, priced by the night

Pre- and post-cruise programs for Antarctica, the Galápagos and the Kimberley, from Silversea’s own pages.

These are the only prices Silversea printed on the voyage pages we read. They run from about $600 to just over $1,000 a night per guest — luxury-hotel money, not budget extensions.

Price them against booking the same hotels yourself. Then decide which nights are worth handing over.

06
Who runs it

A luxury line that went to the ice

Silversea is a wholly owned subsidiary of Royal Caribbean Group, which bought Silver Endeavour for it in July 2022. The expedition fleet sits beside the line’s classic ships, not in a separate company.

That shows in the product. The same butler, the same open bar and the same restaurants come with you to the Antarctic Peninsula.

The four ships came from four directions. Silver Cloud and Silver Wind are 1990s luxury ships refitted with strengthened hulls. Silver Origin was built in the Netherlands for the Galápagos. Silver Endeavour was built for Crystal.

Compare them in our Silversea expedition ships guide. For the ocean fleet, see the Silversea guide, the Nova class, Spirit and Muse and the Millennium class.

Four lines to read twice

The fine print, card by card

Tap a card for the detail. Each comes from Silversea’s own pages.

None of these is unusual for luxury expedition travel. Each one changes what you pay or what you pack, so it belongs in the quote, not the welcome letter.

08
Insurance, plainly

Evacuation is the number that matters out there

Over $250,000What the CDC says a medical evacuation from a remote place can cost.
Not foundA published Silversea minimum for evacuation cover, on the pages we read. Ask us to confirm it for your voyage.

King George Island, South Georgia and the Kimberley coast are about as remote as cruising gets. Getting a sick guest out is slow, specialized and expensive.

Buy a plan with high evacuation limits before final payment, not after. Our expedition insurance guide compares the plans that fit.

09
Who it fits

Silversea, or someone else

Silversea fits if

You want Antarctica without the Drake

Fourteen Endeavour voyages fly both ways in 2026–27, most of them six nights, with Silversea’s own hotel at the gateway.

Silversea fits if

The suite and the service matter as much as the landing

A butler for every suite and an open bar on every voyage, plus all landings on expedition sailings.

Silversea fits if

You want the Galápagos on a 100-guest ship

Silver Origin sails only there, with a 1:10 guide-to-guest ratio, per Silversea.

Look elsewhere if

You want naturalists and a photographer first

That’s Lindblad’s whole pitch. For a similar luxury register, also price Seabourn.

Look elsewhere if

You want helicopters or a submarine

Silversea chose not to run either on Endeavour. Start with Quark or Viking.

Look elsewhere if

You want to compare prices online

Ponant and HX publish fares you can price side by side.

Straight answers

What people ask before booking Silversea

Does Silversea still fly guests to Antarctica from Punta Arenas?

Not as the main route. Silversea's Antarctica Fly Cruise page lists Punta Arenas as the gateway for 2025 voyages and Puerto Williams, Chile, from 2026. Its own blog puts the flight from Puerto Williams to King George Island at about two hours. Two Silver Cloud voyages in early 2027 still start or end in Punta Arenas, per Silversea's voyage catalog. The current pages we read don't use the name Antarctica Bridge.

What does a Silversea expedition fare include?

On expedition voyages, Silversea's fare pages list butler service in every suite, all meals, unlimited champagne, spirits and up to 50 wines, Wi-Fi, onboard gratuities, port taxes and fees, all landings and guided Zodiac, land and sea tours, and expedition gear such as a parka, backpack and water bottle, which varies by region. Charter or in-country flights and pre- or post-cruise hotels are included when the destination requires them. International flights are an optional Flight Package, bought by phone after you book.

Is Door-to-Door still a Silversea fare?

No. Silversea moved to All-Inclusive Plus, All-Inclusive and Last-Minute fares on September 11, 2025, per Cruise Industry News. It had launched Door-to-Door and Port-to-Port fares in March 2024, per TravelPulse; Door-to-Door covered international flights and private executive transfers from home. The fare pages we read on November 1, 2026 use only the newer names. Its Antarctica Fly Cruise page still mentions complimentary private executive transfers to and from your home, so ask us which fare carries them for your date.

How much does a Silversea expedition cost?

Silversea doesn't print a fare on the voyage pages we read; it prices by quote, and it runs frequent offers. What it does publish are its land programs: a three-night Santiago stay before Antarctica from $1,810 per guest, a five-night Amazon program before the Galápagos from $3,350, and a two-night Darwin stay before the Kimberley from $2,130. Ask us for the live fare on your date and we'll put the full total beside another line.

Which Silversea ship sails the Galápagos?

Only Silver Origin. Silversea calls it the first destination-specific ship it built, and its voyage catalog lists seven-night round trips from San Cristóbal almost every week from November 2026 through December 2027, with a break from late July to late August 2027. It carries 100 guests and 90 crew, and Silversea cites an expert guide-to-guest ratio of 1:10.

Do I need special insurance for a Silversea expedition?

We didn't find a published Silversea minimum for evacuation cover on the pages we read, so ask us to confirm it for your voyage. Buy strong evacuation cover anyway. The CDC says a medical evacuation from a remote place can cost more than $250,000, and Antarctica and the Kimberley are about as remote as cruising gets.

When does The Cormorant at 55 South open?

Its grand opening is November 5, 2026, per Cruise Industry News, after a delay from the 2025-26 season. It's a 150-room hotel in Puerto Williams, Chile, and Silversea says each of its 29 Antarctica Fly Cruise voyages in 2026-27 includes a stay there. Guests on earlier October voyages get a preview.

One advisor, the whole expedition

The voyage, the gateway night, and the cover that matters out there.

Expedition trips have more moving parts than a Caribbean week: a charter flight, a night in a gateway city, gear lists and an evacuation clause the line sets for you. We book them together and check that the dates and the fine print agree.

How we work. Seabound Journeys is an independent travel advisory. We aren’t affiliated with or endorsed by any cruise line on this page. When we book a voyage, the cruise line pays us a commission, at no extra cost to you; some links may be affiliate links, and they’re always labeled. None of that changes what we write. Fares, ships, itineraries and inclusions change often, so every figure here comes from the line’s own published materials on the date shown, and the line’s booking terms govern.
