Antarctic Peninsula
November to MarchUshuaia round trips of 9 and 11 nights, with the charter from Buenos Aires included.
Lowest fare we found: $12,150, March 8, 2027.
World Navigator, World Traveller and World Voyager came off the same Portuguese line, with the same eight suite plans. What separates them now is the calendar — and from November 2026, who sells you the winter.
Pick the voyage, not the yacht. The three sisters share a hull design, an ice rating and the same suite plans, so the real choice is the departure and the suite collection.
Two fleet facts change the shopping. World Voyager sails Antarctica for Quark from November 2026, so Atlas’s own Antarctic voyages run on World Navigator and World Traveller only. And the 2019 sister World Explorer was never an Atlas ship; it leaves the family entirely as Windstar’s Star Explorer.
Atlas Adventurer is the one different ship. It’s twice the size, and it debuts in late 2028.
Tap a sort button. The meters redraw against the largest yacht, and Atlas Adventurer will win most of them.
Suite counts and sizes are Atlas’s own. The guest figure for the sisters is Seatrade Cruise News’s 198 — Atlas itself says only “fewer than 200”, and Cruise Industry News has used 200.
Atlas doesn’t publish length, crew counts or Zodiac numbers on its ship pages, so we’ve left them out, not borrowed them. Sort by largest suite if space matters more to you than group size.
Six Mystic ships, five from West Sea in Portugal and one from China, three of them Atlas’s today. Dates come from Atlas and the trade press named in the sources.
Mystic’s first ship sails for Nicko Cruises, Rivages du Monde and Quark. It never flies the Atlas flag.
Delivered by West Sea for Nicko Cruises. It debuts in April 2021 with a Canary Islands voyage from Tenerife.
The first Atlas voyage sails the Mediterranean on August 4, 2021. Atlas certifies it at Polar Category C and Ice Class 1B.
Handed over in Portugal on October 7, 2022, then straight to Antarctica for its first season.
Windstar announces in April 2024 that it’s buying World Seeker, first meant for Atlas, and World Explorer. They become Star Seeker (2025) and Star Explorer (December 2026).
World Voyager starts three Antarctic seasons for Quark. Atlas Adventurer, announced in January 2026, is due in late 2028.
Most Atlas reading online mixes these hulls up. Star Explorer and Star Seeker look like Atlas yachts because they’re the same family — but Windstar says neither will sail as an expedition ship or to the poles.
Check the ship name on any review before you trust it for an Atlas booking.
On the sisters, the jump that matters is from Signature to Concierge. A Horizon suite is the same 270 sq ft as a Veranda, but it adds wash-and-fold laundry and priority access to experiences.
The Adventure Ocean suites sit on Deck 3. They’re the smallest at 183 sq ft, and the cheapest way aboard.
Reserve suites bring a butler and an expanded in-room menu. On the June 2027 Svalbard voyage they run from $17,004 to $20,064, against $11,054 for the entry suite.
Book Concierge if laundry matters on a long polar trip — it’s the cheapest collection that includes it.
Gear and spaces from Atlas’s ship and voyage pages. Where Atlas is silent, the row says so.
| Kit | What Atlas publishes | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|
| Zodiacs | Zodiac safaris and landings on polar voyages; no count published | Quark lists 18 on World Voyager in its configuration |
| Water’s Edge | An open deck about 30 ft above the sea, with heated seating | On the sisters; Atlas named it in its 2026–27 Antarctic release |
| Kayaks | Optional kayaking in Antarctica, at extra cost | Price not published; ask us |
| Camping | Listed for Antarctica “when conditions allow” | Not on every departure |
| Open Bridge | Listed among World Voyager’s spaces | Bridge visits depend on the captain and conditions |
| Binoculars, walking sticks | Included on every voyage | Always Included list |
| Parka and vest | Yours to keep on the polar voyages we read | Not on Epicurean voyages; an Atlas backpack there |
| Helicopters, submarines | None listed | Compare Quark’s Ultramarine for helicopters |
Atlas describes its kit in experiences, not inventories. That’s the honest gap on these pages: no Zodiac count, no kayak count, no crew number.
The spaces aboard are better documented — the Dome, the Open Bridge, a pool and hot tub, and SeaSpa by L’OCCITANE on World Voyager.
Kayaking is the one priced extra in Antarctica, and Atlas doesn’t publish the price. Ask us before you plan around it.
The Explorer’s Table is the other: a tasting menu for 10 guests in the Observation Lounge, listed at $179 per guest in March 2025. Reservations open 60 days out.
Try “World Voyager” with “Polar”. Two cards answer, and only one of them is an Atlas booking.
Ushuaia round trips of 9 and 11 nights, with the charter from Buenos Aires included.
Lowest fare we found: $12,150, March 8, 2027.
7-night King George Island fly-cruises, the 18-night South Georgia voyage, and Buenos Aires transits via the Falklands.
The widest Antarctic menu of the three.
Three Antarctic seasons on charter. You book these through Quark, on Quark’s terms.
Not on Atlas’s Antarctic list.
Arctic Circle Explorer, Reykjavík to Longyearbyen, from $11,054, plus Tromsø legs.
The Svalbard specialist of the three.
Reykjavík to Nuuk, Nuuk to Churchill (16 nights) and Nuuk to St. John’s (17 nights).
For Greenland with Hudson Bay.
Nice to Naples, Naples to Athens, Livorno to Dubrovnik, Monte Carlo to Lisbon.
Food-led weeks from $5,047.
Las Palmas to Seville, London to Glasgow, Dover to Lisbon.
Shoulder-season Europe.
A 10-night Las Palmas round trip from $4,599, then Dover to Oslo.
The lowest per-night fares we found.
Marigot to St. John’s and St. John’s to Bridgetown, 7 and 8 nights.
Two departures only.
Kobe, Hong Kong, Bali and Singapore, then Mahé, Mombasa and Cape Town.
A new ship; dates can move.
No yacht matches that pair. Widen one filter.
Deployments come from Atlas’s ship, Antarctica and Arctic pages for 2026 to 2029. For the places themselves, read our Antarctica landing sites, Arctic, Greenland and polar bear guides.
One yacht, two operators, and a different booking depending on the month.
Three consecutive Antarctic seasons on charter. Quark lists it at 168 guests in its configuration, with 18 Zodiacs and the Science & Discovery program on every departure. Quark’s fares, inclusions and terms apply.
Back under the Atlas banner for Svalbard, Iceland, the British Isles and Iberia, with Atlas’s bar, onboard gratuities and suite collections. Atlas lists 26 itineraries for it.
Quark confirmed the charter in February 2025, Cruise Industry News reported. The deal extends Mystic’s relationship with Quark: World Voyager takes over the Antarctic role World Explorer used to fill.
Atlas lost a third of its Antarctic capacity for independent bookings as a result — two yachts, not three.
The same hull, two very different fares. Quark’s inclusions aren’t Atlas’s, so compare the two products, not the ship.
Read our Quark fleet guide for World Voyager’s Quark cabins before you choose a winter.
Tap a card for the detail. Each one comes from Atlas’s pages or the trade press in the sources.
None of these rules a yacht out. Each one changes what you’re actually buying — so settle it before the deposit, not after.
Our judgement, built on Atlas’s listings. Narrow it to a yacht, then compare two dates.
Its March 8, 2027 Ushuaia round trip, from $12,150, is the lowest Antarctic fare we found on Atlas.
It runs the 7-night King George Island fly-cruises in December, with the Punta Arenas charter included.
Most of Atlas’s Svalbard and Iceland departures, June to September.
The Nuuk and Churchill voyages in July and August, with the Labrador coast on the way to St. John’s.
No Atlas yacht lists either. Compare Quark’s Ultramarine and Ponant’s Charcot.
Atlas sails neither. Start with our Galápagos and Kimberley guides, then Lindblad’s fleet.
Three in service and one on order. Atlas's yachts page lists World Navigator, World Traveller and World Voyager, each with 100 suites, plus Atlas Adventurer, a 400-guest sailing yacht due in late 2028. From November 2026 World Voyager spends its winters on charter to Quark Expeditions, so Atlas sells Antarctica on two yachts.
Yes, for half the year. Seatrade Cruise News reported that World Voyager goes on charter to Quark Expeditions for three consecutive Antarctic seasons from November 2026 and stays an Atlas ship, sailing for Atlas in northern Europe and the Arctic. Atlas's own listings for it start in April 2027 and run through the summer.
Both went to Windstar Cruises. World Explorer, the first ship Mystic built in 2019, sailed for Nicko Cruises, Quark and Rivages du Monde, and isn't an Atlas ship; it's being converted in Portugal as Windstar's Star Explorer, with a first voyage due December 28, 2026. World Seeker, first meant for Atlas, entered Windstar service as Star Seeker in 2025.
A 400-guest sailing yacht with solid sails on three carbon masts, announced in January 2026 for a late-2028 debut. Atlas lists 200 suites, from 254 sq ft to a 1,365 sq ft two-bedroom Owner's Suite. Its first voyages sail Asia and Africa from November 2028, including a 128-night Kobe to Cape Town voyage from $90,999.
Atlas lists Polar Category C and Ice Class 1B for its yachts. That's a Polar Code category, not a numbered PC polar class, and it suits the Antarctic Peninsula and summer Arctic routes Atlas sails. Quark's page for World Voyager gives the same 1B rating. Atlas Adventurer is also reported at Ice Class 1B, Polar Category C.
Nearly. They come from the same Mystic series built at West Sea in Portugal, and Seatrade calls them three identical 198-passenger ships. Atlas lists the same eight suite categories on each, from 183 to 465 sq ft. The differences Atlas’s pages show are mostly restaurant names and deployments.
Send us the region, the month and how many are traveling. We’ll confirm which yacht runs your departure, which suites are still open, and whether a guarantee fare makes sense.
No fee, no obligation. You pay the cruise line’s own fare. A real advisor replies, usually within one business day.
Answers come straight from this guide.
Answers come from our guides and are general information. Confirm details with us before you book.
Suite counts, sizes, ice ratings and deployments are Atlas’s own; guest counts for the sisters and Atlas Adventurer’s dimensions are trade press, and sources differ (Atlas says fewer than 200 guests; Seatrade 198; Cruise Industry News 200). The picks and the trap cards are our judgement. Plans for a ship still being built can change.
Expedition trips have more moving parts than a Caribbean week: a charter flight, a night in a gateway city, gear lists and an evacuation clause the line sets for you. We book them together and check that the dates and the fine print agree.
How we work. Seabound Journeys is an independent travel advisory. We aren’t affiliated with or endorsed by any cruise line on this page. When we book a voyage, the cruise line pays us a commission, at no extra cost to you; some links may be affiliate links, and they’re always labeled. None of that changes what we write. Fares, ships, itineraries and inclusions change often, so every figure here comes from the line’s own published materials on the date shown, and the line’s booking terms govern.
