71 Nyhavn Hotel
130 rooms in two harbour warehouses at the mouth of Nyhavn, and the one hotel in our twenty that puts breakfast in every rate — about 4.9 road miles from Oceankaj.
Pre-Cruise Hotels · Copenhagen
Twenty hotels for a Copenhagen cruise, from Nordhavn to the airport, scored on what gets you to Oceankaj, not on reviews. None publishes a ride to the ship and only one puts breakfast in every rate, so distance decides most of it — breakfast, two airport parking offers and the evening do the rest.
Three taps and we’ll show your three picks.
Change any answer and the picks change with it. They’re built from the same published facts as the ranking below. No hotel pays for a place here. Booking.com links earn us a commission, and they don’t change the order.
Matching weighs your answers against each hotel’s published shuttle, parking, breakfast, pool, beach, kitchen and pet policies.
Five answers, and the page builds the whole thing: the hotel, the ride in, the ride to the ship, what happens to the car, what time to leave, and how you get home. Every figure is one the hotel, the port or the company publishes. Where nobody publishes a number, you’ll see that instead of a guess.
Who’s coming and the mood come from Your Match; the plan uses the same answers.
Partner links (transfers, rental cars, luggage storage) may earn Seabound Journeys a commission at no extra cost to you. They don't change the plan, which is built only from what each company publishes.
Ship at Oceankaj, shortest morning: Comwell Portside, 2.2 road miles. Ship at Langelinie: Go Hotel Østerport, 1.0 road mile, or Phoenix, 1.6. Want breakfast in the rate and don’t mind a 14-minute cab: 71 Nyhavn. 71 Nyhavn wins on breakfast, the only hotel in our twenty that includes it with every room, about 4.9 road miles from Oceankaj. Comwell Portside is five points back on location — about 2.2 road miles, the only bed on the Nordhavn side. Admiral Hotel is third with an outdoor pool and a seafood restaurant by Nyhavn.
Filter by what your night needs and tick up to three to set side by side — we set the order, you pick the shortlist.
We checked 26 hotels and scored the 24 that are open and publish enough to score; these are the top twenty. None of the twenty runs a shuttle to the ship or sells cruise parking. The four that scored lower, and two we couldn’t rank at all, are listed with the reasons.

Pick how you’re arriving. The board counts what each hotel publishes, the table lights up that column, and the companies below run from the airport to the port.
None of the twenty runs an airport shuttle, and only Clarion is close enough to Terminal 3 not to need one.
Copenhagen Airport · about 9.9 road miles (15.9 km) to Oceankaj, our routing; taxi about DKK 425 (about US$65) by day, per Wonderful Copenhagen
Wonderful Copenhagen, the city's tourism body, prints about DKK 425 by day on weekdays and DKK 520 in the evening and at weekends between Ocean Quay and the airport, about 40 minutes. The port operator, CMP, says DKK 450 to 550 (about US$70–85). Taxis pick up outside Terminal 3, and the airport says the rate includes a tip.
The M2 leaves from a station in direct extension of Terminal 3, every 4 to 6 minutes by day. Wonderful Copenhagen's route to Ocean Quay is the M2 from Terminal 3 to Kongens Nytorv, a change there to the M4 for Orientkaj, then bus 25 or 164 — about 40 minutes on a three-zone ticket. Up to two children under 12 travel free with each paying adult.
MSC still lists Copenhagen airport to port at €26 a person under its Summer Cruises 2025 transfers, with nothing for 2026 or 2027, so ask MSC for your sailing before you count on it. Holland America sells an airport transfer after you book, without a price on the page. Princess's page shows none.
AirportTransferPortal, a reseller, listed CPH to Oceankaj at €150 for a sedan and €173 (about US$195) for a 7-seat van, per vehicle, on October 3, 2026. Confirm with the operator it books.
The airport's Car Rental Centre is at its western end, reached by free terminal buses, with returns directly opposite. A car makes sense for the Kastrup and Ørestad hotels, not for the old town, where hotels print parking at DKK 200 to 395 (about US$30–60) a day.
Driving? The column to watch is “While you sail”. Compare hotel parking with the options on Copenhagen cruise parking, or price it out in the parking math below.

These twenty are ranked for an easy sail morning, not for the room. Copenhagen’s grand hotels sit in the old town and by Tivoli, a taxi from Oceankaj. MICHELIN gave the d’Angleterre Two Keys and Nimb, Hotel Sanders and Nobis one each, as of the 2025 Nordic selection, and Forbes rates the d’Angleterre and Nimb Four-Star.
Every distance here ends at Oceankaj, Esri’s point for Oceanvej 13 — the Ocean Quay address, not a particular gangway among quays 331 to 333. Every hotel is measured by road with no traffic, because nobody walks to Oceankaj from town; each page also gives the road miles to Langelinie.
One hotel sits in Nordhavn and seven between Østerport, Nyhavn and the lakes. Nine are around City Hall Square, the station and Kalvebod Brygge, one is in Ørestad and two are by the airport. Sailing from Langelinie or Nordre Toldbod instead? The order flips: the Østerport and Nyhavn hotels are about 1 to 2 road miles away, and Nordhavn is no longer the closest.
Numbers are the ranking. Each pin sits where the hotel is — the bands group them by distance, the way we score it.
Five things make a Copenhagen night before easy or hard, and here the ride to Oceankaj does most of the work. Points come from the hotel’s own site or its brand’s, nowhere else.
Silence scores zero, not a guess. Booking sites don’t count — Kong Arthur is scored from MICHELIN’s listing, and we say so on its page. A distance to “the harbour” or a metro stop isn’t a distance to a cruise terminal.
By band, from Oceankaj: Nordhavn 30; Østerport, Nyhavn and the lakes 25; City Hall Square and the station 20; Ørestad 15; Kastrup and the airport 10.
A transfer the hotel runs or arranges, with a published price, 25. A ride only inside a package 20. The hotel’s own ride with no published fare 15. A walk the hotel prints at half a mile or less 15. A named partner 10. Nobody in Copenhagen scores here.
A published rate to leave the car while you cruise 20; offered, but unpriced or not guaranteed, 14. Clarion’s Park, Stay & Fly has no price on the page and Go Hotel Copenhagen won’t reserve its DKK 399 week, so both score 14 — and both are airport lots, a road trip from the ship. Day rates don’t count.
A breakfast the hotel says is included scores 10. Only 71 Nyhavn says so for every room — the rest sell it separately or fold it into packages.
Pool 3, food or a bar on site 3, a kitchen in the room 3. AC Bella Sky’s spa pools count, though entry costs DKK 200.
Ties are broken in order: the lower published parking rate, any stated way to the ship, free breakfast, parking on site, the shorter road distance to Oceankaj by our routing, the lower guest parking price, then the alphabet. Four tie on 28: Phoenix and Wakeup Borgergade go first because they park on site, then Kong Arthur and Copenhagen Strand, each pair by road distance. Seven tie on 23: The Square, Comfort Vesterbro and Copenhagen Island park on site, then the Imperial, Scandic Copenhagen, Scandic Webers and Scandic Palace by distance. Go Hotel Saga takes twentieth from Wakeup Carsten Niebuhrs Gade, both on 20, by about 0.3 road miles.
What’s left out is deliberate. A July room rate tells you nothing in May, so rates aren’t scored — review scores neither. We found no official Danish star category on any hotel’s own pages, so none is printed.
No hotel in our twenty sells parking for a cruise. What they do publish runs from day rates in town to the lot by the ship — all three, priced, below.
At the hotels. Day rates, not cruise deals. Comwell Portside’s garage is capped at DKK 220 (about US$35) a day and Go Hotel Østerport charges DKK 200 per 24 hours; in town, Comfort Vesterbro prints DKK 320 a night, the three Scandics DKK 300 to 380 (about US$45–55) per 24 hours, and Kong Arthur’s public parking DKK 395 a day. Each is a price for a night in town, not a cruise week.
At the airport. Clarion’s Park, Stay & Fly bundles a night with 8 or 15 days in its P11 lot or P7 garage, price not shown, on a 2026 offer; ask Clarion whether a 2027 version exists. Go Hotel Copenhagen charges DKK 399 a week after a stay, space permitting, with no guarantee. Both are sold for flying, about 9 to 10 road miles from Oceankaj.
At the port. P-plads Oceanvej, run by By & Havn, has 242 spaces 50–100 m from Ocean Quay: DKK 22 (about US$3) an hour from 07:00 to 17:00, DKK 12 (about US$2) overnight, at most DKK 150 per 24 hours, per Wonderful Copenhagen. Norwegian lists six payment apps, ApcoaFlow and EasyPark among them. VisitCopenhagen says there’s no long-term parking at Langelinie or Nordre Toldbod; for the latter it points to an indoor lot at Dronningens Tværgade 4 at DKK 500 (about US$75) a day.
| P-plads Oceanvej, DKK 150 per 24 hours at most, as Wonderful Copenhagen prints it | — |
Our total counts each cruise night plus one day at the DKK 150 cap, so it’s a ceiling: a car parked on sail morning and collected on the last morning may pay one 24-hour period less. Prices are Wonderful Copenhagen’s, read October 3, 2026.
Every option side by side: Copenhagen cruise parking, compared.
We checked 26 hotels. Twenty-four were open and published enough to score; four of them scored below the twenty, and two we couldn’t rank at all. Six more grand hotels, from the d’Angleterre to Kurhotel Skodsborg, are on the splurge list with two of these twenty. The old Hilton Copenhagen Airport is today's Clarion, ranked above.
| Hotel | Why it isn’t in the twenty |
|---|---|
| Wakeup Copenhagen, Carsten Niebuhrs Gade | Scored 20, level with Go Hotel Saga, and placed after it on our longer road distance to Oceankaj (about 6.2 miles against 5.9). It lists no restaurant or bar. |
| Go Hotel City, Lergravsvej | Scored 15: about 7.2 road miles from Oceankaj on Amager, with no restaurant, no stated breakfast and nothing for the evening. |
| Scandic CPH Strandpark, Kastrup | Scored 13. Its free weekday shuttle runs to the airport, not the ship, and Oceankaj is about 9.7 road miles away. |
| Comfort Hotel Copenhagen Airport | Scored 13: a five-minute indoor walk to Terminal 3 and a restaurant, but about 10 road miles from Oceankaj and no parking package. |
| Scandic Front | Temporarily closed for renovation, per Scandic, with reopening expected in spring 2027. |
| Hobo Copenhagen | Not open yet — Strawberry says it opens on February 1, 2027. |
Copenhagen Airport, at Kastrup, is the one airport you need — about 9.9 road miles (15.9 km) from Oceankaj by our routing, roughly 26 minutes with no traffic. Wonderful Copenhagen puts the taxi at about 40 minutes and DKK 425 by day on weekdays, and the metro and a bus take about 40 minutes for DKK 30.
The metro leaves from a station joined to Terminal 3, so the old-town hotels are an easy first night. The Getting There table shows what every hotel publishes; the airport page has the taxi, the metro and the transfer prices.
Tours, tickets and things to do are on Booking.com. Book the day before, not sail day.

On our scoring it's 71 Nyhavn Hotel, the one hotel in our twenty that says breakfast comes with every room, about 4.9 road miles from Oceankaj by our routing. Comwell Copenhagen Portside is second, the closest to Oceankaj at about 2.2 road miles. The Admiral, with its outdoor pool, is third.
Copenhagen has three cruise quays, all run by Copenhagen Malmö Port (CMP). Oceankaj (Ocean Quay, Oceanvej 13 in Nordhavn) has quays 331 to 333 and no length limit, so the big ships start and end there; Langelinie takes ships up to 320 m and Nordre Toldbod up to 200 m. Norwegian calls Terminal 1 (C331) its primary spot, Royal Caribbean names berths 331 to 333 and Princess Ocean Quay. MSC's own page says Terminal 3 and also sends its shuttle to Terminal 1, so your documents decide.
Not to Oceankaj from the old town — it's about 4.5 to 6.4 road miles by our routing, and no hotel prints a walk to any cruise terminal. Langelinie and Nordre Toldbod are closer to the centre — MSC puts Langelinie a 15-minute walk from Østerport station, and VisitCopenhagen says both quays are 14 to 15 minutes on foot from the nearest metro or train.
No hotel sells cruise parking. Two airport hotels sell long parking: Clarion's Park, Stay & Fly bundles a night with 8 or 15 days in its lots, price not shown, named for 2026 stays, and Go Hotel Copenhagen charges DKK 399 a week after a stay but won't guarantee or reserve the space. By the ship, P-plads Oceanvej, 50–100 m from Ocean Quay, is capped at DKK 150 per 24 hours, per Wonderful Copenhagen.
Not one in force that we could find, and none of the hotels we read prints one. On September 15, 2026, sn.dk, citing Børsen, reported a government proposal for a tourist tax of DKK 20 (about US$3) a night in Copenhagen and Aarhus, plus a levy on cruise ships, with no start date. Check your booking for anything added later.
On the lines' own pages we read on October 3, 2026, five have dated sailings: Princess (Caribbean Princess homeports here in 2027), Norwegian (Norwegian Jewel in 2027), Regent, Viking and Silversea (Silver Dawn, June 2027). MSC sells Copenhagen cruises without naming ships, Holland America has a cruises-from-Copenhagen page with none shown, and Azamara's one sailing has gone. Oceania sells Copenhagen hotel packages; check its page for departures from Copenhagen before you count on it. Our Copenhagen cruise guide has who sails when.
None of our twenty runs a free one from CPH. Clarion Hotel Copenhagen Airport is steps from Terminal 3, per the airport, so it doesn't need one. From the rest it's the M2 metro from Terminal 3, the train or a taxi from the rank outside Terminal 3.
Because rates move by the day and by the season, and a ranking has to hold all year. We quote a hotel's printed from-price, dated, where it publishes one (the two Go Hotels do), but we score only what stays put: the distance to the ship, the ride, parking, breakfast and the evening.
