The verdict

The Ilikai is the after-cruise hotel as much as the before. It stores luggage before check-in and after checkout, per its FAQ, and "All of our suites have fully equipped gourmet kitchens", at the harbor end of Waikiki by the Ala Wai Harbor.

From here Pier 2 is about 2.6 miles by road, our estimate, which puts it among the four Waikiki hotels in our twenty nearest the ship. Valet is $45 a day, the lowest any Waikiki hotel in the twenty prints, level with the Prince Waikiki.

Twelfth on 26 comes down to breakfast, which isn't included, and the pools — they appear only on Expedia's page, so we don't score them. Only service animals are allowed.

Drop your bags at the desk on the way back from the ship, and spend the afternoon on the beach instead of at the airport.

Book it if

  • Families who want a full kitchen
  • A day in Waikiki after the cruise, bags stored
  • Anyone near the harbor end of Waikiki

Look elsewhere if

  • You travel with a pet.
  • You want breakfast included.

Heading out
To the terminal

The Ilikai's FAQ gives no distance to the cruise terminal. It's on Ala Moana Boulevard at the harbor end of Waikiki, by the Ala Wai Harbor, the first of the Waikiki hotels on the way from the piers. By our estimate the drive from Ilikai Hotel to Pier 2 is about 7 minutes on empty roads — so leave room for real ones.

Your car

"Valet parking is available for our hotel guests for $45.00 per day," per the hotel. That's for hotel guests, not cruise parking — the FAQ doesn't cover leaving the car while you sail.

Parking by the piers

No cruise parking at the piers

There’s no cruise parking at the piers, and Ilikai Hotel doesn’t publish any either. Harbor Court’s garage at 55 Merchant Street, about 3 miles from here by road on our estimate, caps weekdays at $21 per Parkopedia, against $45 valet at the hotel, but prints no multi-day rate.
