Sheraton Melbourne has a lap pool and no hotel shuttle. Marriott lists a complimentary indoor heated lap pool, a 24-hour fitness centre, Little Collins St Kitchen and a rooftop Terrace Bar that opens seasonally. The hotel ranks eleventh of nineteen, on 30 points, in the city rather than on the river.
The only ride on its page is a chauffeured Melbourne Star car on request, with no price. Parliament and Southern Cross stations are named as nearby without a walking time, so we credit no rail link. By our routing Station Pier is about 3.5 road miles (5.6 km) away, 10 minutes with no traffic.
Check-in is at 15:00 and check-out at 11:00. Parking is A$70 (about US$50) a night by valet, or A$40 (about US$30) a night in the car park next door, with Marriott's plain dollar sign read as Australian dollars.
I'd book it for the lap pool, and I'd ask about breakfast before I paid.
Book it if
- You'd like to swim laps indoors the night before sailing
- A rooftop bar is a bonus, if the Terrace Bar is open for your dates
- A chauffeured car on request appeals, and you'll ask what it costs
Look elsewhere if
- A hotel shuttle is non-negotiable — Marriott says there isn't one.
- Breakfast has to be in the rate, and the page gives no terms.
- You're travelling with a pet, which Marriott doesn't allow.
27 Little Collins Street to the pier in about 10 minutes
Marriott prints no cruise distance, so plan on a taxi, not a transfer; the 10 minutes in the heading is our routing.
Marriott says there's no hotel shuttle. The one ride it lists is a chauffeured Melbourne Star car on request, and it prints no price.
Chauffeured car on request
The pier is a taxi from here, since Marriott lists no shuttle.
From MEL without a hotel shuttle
By our routing Melbourne Airport is about 14.0 road miles from the hotel, roughly 24 minutes with no traffic. SkyBus gets you as far as Southern Cross, and a taxi covers the rest.
Parliament and Southern Cross are the rail names Marriott gives, with no walking time, so no rail link counts.
Valet A$70 a night, or A$40 a night next door.
Going out it's the same cab — Marriott lists no ride to the pier.
