Your flight lands at Philadelphia International, and the ship is next door. PhilaPort says the terminal at 4 Atlantic Avenue is “adjacent to Philadelphia International Airport” — by our routing it’s about 5.4 road miles and 14 minutes from Terminal B.
It’s adjacent on the map, not on foot, so it’s a cab, a rideshare or Norwegian’s own transfer. The cab runs on the meter, because the $32 flat fare is for Center City. No official page describes a bus or train to the terminal. Land the day before if you can.
Take a cab or rideshare if
- You’re going straight to the ship with checked bags
- Two to four of you can split one metered fare
- You land the morning you sail
Rent a car if
- You want a few days in Philadelphia first
- You’re happy to pay $16 a day at the port’s lot while you cruise
- Or you can drop it before you board

One airport, right beside the ship
PHL sits about 7 miles from Center City, per Wikipedia. The terminal is on its southeast edge at 4 Atlantic Avenue, in Tinicum Township — Entrance A — and the port’s only parking lot is on the other side of the airport, at the Clarion on Industrial Highway in Essington.
PHL, and the long way round

What the ride to the ship costs
The row is per cab, not per person, so a full cab splits nicely. And it’s our arithmetic from the PPA tariff, not a quoted fare.
| Taxi by the meter, our arithmetic from the PPA tariff | — |
One way, in US dollars, before tip. Our arithmetic on the PPA tariff over our 5.4-mile routing from Terminal B: $2.70 for the first tenth of a mile, $0.30 for each tenth after, the $1.50 airport exit fee and the $1.45 October 2026 fuel surcharge — about $21.55. The PPA’s airport minimum is $13.
Other ways in: Norwegian sells airport transfers between PHL and the terminal, and PhilaPort sends you to Norwegian for the price. Dav El | BostonCoach advertises private cars to Norwegian’s Philadelphia sailings without prices. We didn’t find a Philadelphia port-transfer listing on Viator to point you to.
Landing on sail day? Check your timing
We didn’t find a Philadelphia boarding cutoff on Norwegian’s pages, so the only row here is our own margin, and we say so. Put in your scheduled landing and the sailing time from your cruise documents.
- Cab or rideshare, any lineOur margin, not Norwegian’s — three hours from touchdown to sailing, with a 15-minute drive inside it.—
What counts is the check-in window you chose in MyNCL — and PhilaPort asks you not to arrive before 9:30 AM, or you may be asked to leave and come back.
Land the day before. Wake up by the ship.
We ranked twenty hotels for a Philadelphia cruise, fourteen of them on Island Avenue, Bartram Avenue and the airport’s own roads, about 3.8 to 5.4 road miles from the terminal by our routing. Send your sail date and flight, and we’ll match the hotel night to your landing.
The morning you’re back
Disembarkation generally runs from 7:00 to 9:30 AM, per PhilaPort, and you collect your bags before you call a car to 4 Atlantic Avenue. We found no earliest-flight rule from Norwegian, so put in your flight and when you expect to be off, and this lays out the ride and the wait.
Partner links (rental cars) may earn Seabound Journeys a commission at no extra cost to you. They don't change the plan, which is built only from what each company publishes.
SEPTA, Amtrak and your suitcase
Not to the ship. The SEPTA Airport Line runs every 30 minutes from Terminals E and F, C and D, B and A to Eastwick, Penn Medicine, 30th Street, Suburban, Jefferson and Temple University — about 25 minutes to Center City, per SEPTA. Regional Rail fares run $5.00 to $13.00, and contactless tap-to-pay works across SEPTA, per PHL.
SEPTA buses 37, 108 and 115 stop at Arrivals Road Zone 1. No official page says any of them reaches 4 Atlantic Avenue, so we don’t either.
Amtrak’s William H. Gray III 30th Street Station is at 2955 Market Street, on the Airport Line. Acela, the Northeast Regional, the Keystone and the Pennsylvanian stop there, and so does NJ Transit’s Atlantic City Line, per PHL.
Bags: PhilaPort lists no luggage storage at the terminal, and Bounce has no store at PHL — its nearest are in Center City, from $2.25 a day. For Norwegian, the terminal and where the ships go, see our Philadelphia cruise guide.
Flying in the day before
A hotel night buys back the whole of sail morning — a late flight becomes a late dinner, not a missed ship. In Philadelphia the airport hotels are the ones nearest the terminal, too.
Fourteen of our top twenty run a free PHL shuttle. The Hampton runs every 30 minutes around the clock, Embassy Suites 24 hours, and the Airport Marriott needs none — it connects to Terminal B.

Philadelphia cruise airport FAQ
What is the closest airport to the Philadelphia cruise terminal?
Philadelphia International (PHL). PhilaPort says the terminal at 4 Atlantic Avenue is "adjacent to Philadelphia International Airport" and gives no mileage. Our own routing from Terminal B, at One Arrivals Road, makes it about 5.4 road miles and 14 minutes with no traffic — adjacent on the map, a short drive by road.
How much is a taxi from PHL to the cruise terminal?
About $22, by our arithmetic — not a quote. The PPA's $32 flat fare covers PHL to Center City only, and the terminal is outside that zone, so the meter runs: $2.70 for the first tenth of a mile, $0.30 for each tenth after, a $1.50 airport exit fee and a $1.45 fuel surcharge in October 2026. Over our 5.4-mile routing that's about $21.55 before tip. The PPA's airport minimum is $13.
Where do Uber and Lyft pick up at PHL?
Zone 7 on the Commercial Transportation Roadway, per PHL. Taxis are at Zone 5 and hotel shuttles at Zone 4. At the cruise terminal, PhilaPort says drop-off is directly in front of the embarkation area.
Is there a train or bus from PHL to the cruise terminal?
Not one any official page describes. The SEPTA Airport Line runs every 30 minutes from the terminals to Center City in about 25 minutes, and SEPTA buses 37, 108 and 115 stop at Arrivals Road Zone 1 — but PhilaPort mentions no transit to 4 Atlantic Avenue, so plan on a cab or rideshare.
Does Norwegian run a transfer from PHL?
Yes. PhilaPort says guests who buy Norwegian's airport transfers ride between PHL and the terminal. It sends you to Norwegian for availability, reservations and pricing, and we found no published price.
Can I fly into Newark or Baltimore instead?
You can, but it's the long way. We found no official distance from either. Our routing gives about 92.5 road miles and just under two hours from Newark (EWR), and about 103.5 miles and 2 hours 15 minutes from BWI, both with no traffic.
Can I rent a car at PHL for a Philadelphia cruise?
Yes. Discover Cars lists nine suppliers at PHL, from $55 a day with an $87 average on its page, last updated October 2, 2026. Rental shuttles use Zone 2. There's no parking at the terminal, though, so a rental means paying the port's lot at the Clarion, $16 a day, while you sail — or dropping the car first.
Can I store luggage near the Philadelphia cruise terminal?
We found nowhere. PhilaPort lists no luggage storage at the terminal, and Bounce says "We don't have stores at the airport yet" — its nearest spots are in Center City, from $2.25 a day. LoungePair sells no lounge passes at PHL.
What time do you get off the ship in Philadelphia?
PhilaPort says disembarkation generally runs between 7:00 and 9:30 AM, and asks you to allow extra time for luggage and the terminal. Rideshare and private pick-up use 4 Atlantic Avenue — book the car once you have your bags, not before.
Can I fly home the same day I get off the ship?
Probably, since the airport is next door. Norwegian publishes no earliest-flight rule for Philadelphia that we could find, so count from the 9:30 AM end of the disembarkation window, add the bags and the ride, then airport security.
Want the flights and transfers handled?
