The beach pick. The Fairmont El San Juan is AAA Four Diamond, "Poised on a two-mile expanse of beach" in Isla Verde, with four pools, the Chandelier Bar and the Well & Being Spa.
The hotel lists the airport taxi at $14 a taxi plus $1 a bag — per cab, not per person — and SJU is about five minutes away.
A Resort Experience Fee applies without a published amount, you must be 21 to check in, and early check-in or late check-out starts at $200 plus tax.
Book it if you land early and want the beach, and take a taxi to your pier in the morning.
Book it if

Look elsewhere if

Getting here, and on to the ship
Pick where you’re coming from. Solid lines are rides the hotel publishes; a question mark is a leg you’ll arrange yourself. At a splurge hotel, that’s usually the morning ride.
No hotel shuttle stated. The hotel lists Taxi Turístico at "$14 per taxi plus $1 for each piece of luggage", $1 more from 10 PM to 6 AM, and Uber, and puts SJU 2.4 or 2.5 miles away, "only five minutes".

No parking at the piers“There is no parking within San Juan Cruise Port,” per the port, which points drivers to the public Covadonga lot across from the Old San Juan piers; Royal Caribbean says the same for Pan American Pier 2, while Celebrity’s page says its terminal has a lot. The cheapest daily figure we found is the Isla Grande airport’s long-term lot, $8.56 a day on a local parking guide, not the operator, and a taxi from the Pan American side. None of the garages publishes a week-long cruise rate.
