Mercure is the one with the indoor rooftop pool and, on our list, the longest ride to a terminal. Accor lists an indoor rooftop pool, a fitness centre and a sauna, with Platform 818, Terrace on Two and Eve's Bar, at the Central end of George Street. It ranks thirteenth.
On our routing it's the hotel farthest from its nearer terminal on the list, by about 50 m over Sofitel Darling Harbour. White Bay Cruise Terminal is about 2.5 road miles (4.0 km) and 7 minutes off, the Overseas Passenger Terminal 2.6. Accor names no station, and the Port Authority's White Bay page lists no train, bus or ferry route.
Check-in is from 3 pm and check-out by 10 am, earlier than most. Family rooms have two double beds and sleep four at most. Accor's own guest rating is 4.4 from 8,458 reviews, which we don't score, and parking is on site with fees and no printed rate.
I'd book Mercure for the pool and sauna rather than the ride, and plan on a taxi either way.
Book it if
- You want a pool and a sauna the night before you sail.
- You're coming in through Central.
- Two double beds will do for four of you.
Look elsewhere if
- You'd rather wake up near the harbour.
- You want a slow morning, and a 10 am check-out cuts it short.
- You need the parking rate before you book.
Mercure's night: pool first, taxi after
From check-in to the gangway, using what Accor publishes and our routing for the distances.
Plan the evening around the pool and sauna, and eat at one of the three venues named above.
Mercure lists no ride to a terminal, so the taxi to White Bay Cruise Terminal is yours to arrange.
Breakfast terms aren't on the page, so ask what's served and when before you plan the morning.
It can run slow in the morning, so a car booked the night before beats one hailed at the curb.
A car park is on site — the rate question is in the driving section.
Thirteenth on 25 of 100
Accor names no station, so rail earns nothing here. The hub explains the scoring.
From the airport to George Street, then 2.5 miles on to White Bay
Sydney Airport is about 7.9 road miles from Mercure by our routing and White Bay about 2.5, roughly 7 minutes with no traffic. Every ride in between is one you book.
Accor’s page lists no airport transport, so the trip in from Sydney Airport is yours to arrange.
Take a taxi — no hotel ride is listed, and White Bay Cruise Terminal is the nearer terminal by a hair.
The distances are ours: 2.5 road miles (4.0 km) to White Bay and 2.6 to the Overseas Passenger Terminal.
From SYD without a hotel shuttle
The airport is about 15 minutes away with no traffic. Take the Airport Link to the city if you're travelling light, or a taxi for door to door — the airport page compares them.
Accor names no station, so we can't offer a train leg.
On site with fees — the rate isn't printed, so ask before you drive in.
With no hotel ride, the booking is yours, and on clear roads it's the same short taxi.
The Overseas Passenger Terminal is a touch further, at 2.6 road miles.
Landing on sail day? Skip the night and use the airport page to time the ride.
Which terminal
White BayCarnival Adventure is listed at both terminals in the Port Authority's October schedule, so the Sydney cruise guide can't pair a line with a terminal — read your documents. From Mercure it's 2.5 road miles (4.0 km) to White Bay and 2.6 to the Overseas Passenger Terminal.

No parking at the terminal on cruise daysDon't expect the terminals to take the car. The Overseas Passenger Terminal has no parking on cruise days, the Port Authority says, and White Bay's drop-off car park stops at 15 minutes — a nearby Wilson car park is the usual answer, though its page doesn’t confirm a minimum stay.
Before you book the garage, read Sydney cruise parking for the cruise-day rules.
