Holiday Inn Mobile West - I-10
The one hotel whose own page sells a van to the terminal and back, with free parking for the cruise in the same package.
Pre-Cruise Hotels · Mobile
Twenty hotels for a cruise from Mobile. Downtown, by I-65, across the bay and off I-10 — scored on what gets you to the ship, not on reviews. Pick yours, and let the trip start the night before.
Three taps and we’ll show your best three hotels.
Change any answer and the picks change with it. They’re built from the same published facts as the ranking below. Nobody pays to be here.
Matching weighs your answers against each hotel’s published shuttle, parking, breakfast, pool, beach, kitchen and pet policies.
Five answers, and the page builds the whole thing: the hotel, the ride in, the ride to the ship, what happens to the car, what time to leave, and how you get home. Every figure is one the hotel, the port or the company publishes. Where nobody publishes a number, you’ll see that instead of a guess.
Who’s coming and the mood come from Your Match; the plan uses the same answers.
Partner links (rental cars) may earn Seabound Journeys a commission at no extra cost to you. They don't change the plan, which is built only from what each company publishes.
These three earn the podium on the ride, not the room — one sells a van to the terminal on its own page, and two print a walking distance. Holiday Inn West I-10 bundles a van to the ship with parking for the cruise — though its IHG copy still names the long-retired Carnival Fantasy, so get the terms in writing. The Hampton Inn downtown is a quarter-mile from the terminal by Hilton’s count, with free breakfast. The Holiday Inn downtown says half a mile.
Filter by what matters for your night. Save the ones you like, or tick up to three to compare side by side — the order is ours, the shortlist is yours.
Add your sail date and the links open on the night before.

Pick how you’re arriving. The board counts what each hotel publishes, the table lights up that column, and the companies below run from the airport to the port.
Airline flights land at Mobile Regional (MOB), about 13 miles west of the city per Wikipedia — about 15 road miles from the terminal by our routing. Eight of the twenty are downtown, under a mile from the ship; the rest sit out by I-65, across the bay or off I-10.
Mobile Regional · about 13 miles west of Mobile, per Wikipedia
The airport names one cab company, Modern Transport, LLC, on 251-265-1029, and prints no fares or flat rate. CruiseHive puts a taxi or rideshare to the terminal at $25 to $35. A third-party fare site lists Mobile's meter at $2.50 to start and $2.06 a mile.
The airport authority says rideshares use a designated area at the southwest corner of the main terminal; Uber's own page says arrivals level, on Terminal Drive. At the cruise terminal, the City of Mobile lists six covered pick-up and drop-off lanes.
Seven companies rent at MOB, per the airport authority: Alamo, Avis, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, Thrifty and National. If you keep the car through the cruise, it sits in the terminal's garage on the daily rate, not free — $23 a day by Visit Mobile's count, $21 by CruiseHive's.
The Wave's fare is $1.25 one way with one free transfer, or $3.00 for a day pass, per the Wave. We found no Wave route to the airport. Downtown, the moda! trolley runs Monday to Friday, 7 AM to 3 PM — the Wave says $0.50, the Downtown Mobile Alliance says free.
We found no shuttle company with a published fare from MOB to the terminal. Carnival's airport-transfer page names no Mobile option or price.

These twenty are ranked for an easy sail morning, not for the room. Downtown Mobile has three AAA Four Diamond hotels, and all three made the twenty: the Battle House, the Renaissance Riverview Plaza and Fort Condé Inn, each under a mile from the terminal by our routing. The Grand Hotel at Point Clear is Four Diamond too, about 23 road miles out across the bay, so it has its own page here.
Mobile has one cruise terminal, the Alabama Cruise Terminal at 201 S. Water Street on the river. The bands measure road miles from there by our routing, hotel to ship, not as the crow flies. Downtown is under a mile — all eight of them. Airport Boulevard and the I-65 service road run about 5 to 10.6. The Eastern Shore is about 9.7 to 13 across the bay, and Tillman's Corner off I-10 about 12.
Eight of the twenty are downtown, six are by I-65 and Airport Boulevard, four are on the Eastern Shore and two are off I-10 west. The three outer bands score the same. In practice they're the same drive — 13 to 18 minutes to the ship with no traffic, by our routing.
Numbers are the ranking. Each pin sits where the hotel is — the bands group them by distance, the way we score it.
Five things decide how easy the night before is, and each one is scored only from what the hotel publishes on its own site or its brand’s.
If a hotel doesn't say it, it scores zero there — not a guess, zero. Travel sites, tourism listings and review sites don't count, and when a hotel’s own pages contradict each other, we score the claim as unconfirmed and tell you. Each page lists exactly what we couldn't confirm.
By band, from the terminal: downtown 30; Airport Boulevard and I-65 20; the Eastern Shore 20; I-10 West 20.
Hotel-run shuttle, free or with a published price, 25. A ride only inside a package or offer 20. The hotel’s own ride with no published fare 15. The hotel says you can walk: across the street, a few blocks, or half a mile or less, 15. A ride the hotel arranges through someone else, or a shuttle company it names, 10. A shuttle that doesn’t name the terminal doesn’t count.
Published rate to leave the car 20, including a package with a published price. Offered, price unpublished 14.
Sail mornings start early. A free breakfast on site scores 10, including one inside a mandatory nightly fee.
On the beach 6 (none of the twenty is), pool 3, food or a bar on site 3, a kitchen in the room 3.
Ties are broken in order: the lower published parking rate, any stated way to the ship, free breakfast, parking on site, the closer stated mileage, the lower guest parking price, then the alphabet. Seven hotels tie on 36. The four with free breakfast come first: Drury Plaza, which prints its distance, then the two Homewood Suites and the Residence Inn on the alphabet. Three downtown hotels without it follow, in order of what they charge to park — free at Candlewood, $19.72 at the Renaissance Riverview, $29 valet at the Battle House. Nine hotels finish on 33. The Holiday Inn Express West leads them because it prints its distance, then six more with free breakfast fall in alphabetical order. Hilton Garden Inn downtown and Fort Condé Inn close the twenty — no free breakfast, and the Garden Inn parks on site.
What's left out is deliberate. Room rates change daily — so they aren't scored. Neither are guest-review scores — they measure a stay in general, not a sail morning.
The ranking tells you which hotel makes the morning easiest — your dates and your budget decide the rest, so price your own night before you book the winner.
Two of the twenty print a way to leave the car while you sail — on their own pages, not on a coupon. Below are their terms, the deals that live only on Visit Mobile’s coupon pages, and the terminal’s own deck.
At the hotels: two of our twenty print a way to leave the car on their own pages. Holiday Inn West I-10 sells a park and cruise package — “free parking for the duration of your cruise”, breakfast for up to four, a van to the terminal. The Admiral’s Park & Travel Package gives “Complimentary parking for the duration of your cruise or train travel”. Neither prints a price, so both score as offers to ask about.
On Visit Mobile’s coupons: the city’s tourism bureau lists six more. The Hampton Inn downtown pairs the room with terminal parking for one car. SpringHill Suites says it pays the terminal parking. Holiday Inn Express West adds parking and a round-trip shuttle, and Fort Condé Inn lets you leave the car at no extra cost. The Battle House and Renaissance Riverview Plaza coupons didn’t load. None carries a date or a price, and none is on the hotel’s own site — so none scores. Each hotel’s page names its offer, so you know what to ask for.
At the terminal: the City of Mobile’s 500-space deck is attached to the building, prepaid through Premium Parking, per the terminal’s site. Visit Mobile says $23 a day; CruiseHive says $21, and Cruzely’s older $18 still turns up. The prepay page didn’t show a price when we read it, so check it for your dates.
For the options in town, see Mobile cruise parking, compared.
We checked 28 hotels downtown, by I-65 and Airport Boulevard, off I-10 west, on the Eastern Shore and at Point Clear. These came closest, with their scores and the reason each fell short. The Grand Hotel at Point Clear and the Malaga Inn are on the splurge list. So are four of these twenty: the Battle House, the Renaissance Riverview Plaza, Fort Condé Inn and The Admiral.
| Hotel | Score | Why it missed |
|---|---|---|
| Malaga Inn | 30 | A privately owned historic inn on Church Street with free off-street parking, about 0.6 road miles from the ship — but its homepage doesn't print breakfast, a pool or a restaurant, and we didn't read its policies page. It's on the splurge list. |
| Hilton Garden Inn Mobile West I-65/Airport Blvd. | 26 | The Garden Grille & Bar, an outdoor pool and free parking, but breakfast is paid and no cruise offer is printed. |
| Courtyard by Marriott Mobile Daphne/Eastern Shore | 26 | An indoor pool and The Bistro, but no free breakfast; a 2020 Cruzely article described a Park, Ride and Cruise package Marriott's page doesn't show. |
| Hilton Garden Inn Mobile East Bay / Daphne | 26 | The Garden Grille & Bar and an indoor pool across the bay, but no free breakfast and no cruise offer on Hilton's page. |
| Courtyard by Marriott Mobile | 23 | A Park and Cruise package with a one-way ride to the terminal — but it's only on Visit Mobile's coupon page, and breakfast isn't free. |
| Mobile Marriott | 23 | Winston's Restaurant and free parking on Airport Boulevard; its seven-night park-and-cruise package is only on Visit Mobile's coupon page, and the pool isn't stated. |
Not ranked: Quality Inn Downtown Historic District. Listed in Visit Mobile's 2026 guide, but it's gone from Choice's Mobile listing. Its Visit Mobile coupon page returns an error, so we couldn't confirm it's open. TownePlace Suites Mobile. Visit Mobile's 2026 guide still lists it at 1075 Montlimar Drive; Choice lists a MainStay Suites at that address now.
One of the twenty prints free airport transport: Holiday Inn West I-10, to and from "the Mobile Area Airports" with 24 hours’ notice. Three more name a car company and a fare from MOB. It’s Mobile Bay Transportation each time — $20 for the Residence Inn, $30 for the Fairfield, $40 for the Renaissance Riverview Plaza.
CruiseHive puts MOB 25 to 35 minutes from the terminal and the ride at $25 to $35; the airport prints no fares. Flights are due to move to Brookley, much closer to downtown, in spring 2027. The airport authority’s Build BFM site gives the season, not a date. The Getting There table shows what every hotel publishes.

On our scoring it's the Holiday Inn Mobile West on I-10. It's the one hotel whose own page sells a ride to the Alabama Cruise Terminal. The van runs there and back, about 15 minutes each way, inside a park and cruise package that also keeps the car. The Hampton Inn & Suites downtown is second, 0.25 miles from the terminal by Hilton's count, with a free hot breakfast. The Holiday Inn downtown is third, half a mile away by IHG's.
Mobile has one cruise terminal: the Alabama Cruise Terminal at 201 S. Water Street, downtown on the river, run by the City of Mobile, with its own 500-space parking deck. Visit Mobile also gives the address as One South Water Street — same building.
From downtown, yes. Two hotels put a number on it: the Hampton Inn & Suites says 0.25 miles and the Holiday Inn says 0.5. By our routing all eight of our downtown hotels are under a mile of road away. Fort Condé Inn is closest, at about 0.2 miles.
Downtown if you want to walk or take a two-minute cab to the ship, and eat out the night before. Out by I-65 if you're driving in and want free parking and breakfast. Those hotels sit about 10 road miles from the terminal by our routing — roughly a quarter-hour with no traffic. MOB is 7 to 8 miles from them, by the hotels' own counts.
Two of our twenty say so on their own pages: Holiday Inn West I-10's park and cruise package and The Admiral's Park & Travel Package. Neither prints a price. Visit Mobile's coupon pages list park-and-cruise deals at six more, which we couldn't find on the hotels' own sites, so we don't score them. The other option is the terminal's own 500-space deck — $23 a day by Visit Mobile's count, $21 by CruiseHive's.
One of our twenty runs a free shuttle from MOB: Holiday Inn West I-10. Otherwise it's a cab or rideshare — CruiseHive puts the ride from MOB to the terminal at $25 to $35. The airport names one cab company, Modern Transport, and prints no fares.
Airline flights use Mobile Regional (MOB) for now. It's about 13 miles west of the city per Wikipedia — about 15 road miles by our routing. CruiseHive puts a taxi or rideshare at $25 to $35. The airport names one cab company and prints no fares. Flights are due to move to Mobile International at Brookley, about 5 road miles from the terminal by our routing — spring 2027, per the airport authority's Build BFM site.
Carnival, and only Carnival. Spirit sails the season, October 2026 to April 2027. Carnival Valor starts year-round sailings on May 15, 2027, per Carnival and Cruise Industry News — one Visit Mobile article still names Spirit for the year-round program. American Cruise Lines' Gulf Coast cruises stop in Mobile as a port call; they don't start here.
A room rate moves by the day and climbs on sailing weekends. Any number printed here would be wrong by the time you read it. We rank on the things that hold still, not on price — the ride, the parking terms and breakfast. The booking site shows the live rate for your date.
